Jeannette Ausfresser, 90, ofSummit died on May 23.
Born in the Bronx, N.Y., Mrs.Ausfresser lived in Queens, N.Y.,before moving to New Jersey 18years ago.
She was a patron of the arts.Mrs. Ausfresser was a lifelongantiques collector. Special items inher collection included Victorianhat pins and Chinese Foo dogs. Shehad been a volunteer in the pedi-atric surgery department of BoothMemorial Hospital in Queens.
Surviving are a son, ReynoldAufraser, and a daughter, PamelaBerman.

Charlotte BarcasCharlotte T. Barcas, 84, of Clark
died May 22 in Trinitas RegionalMedical Center, Elizabeth.
Born in Manhattan, N.Y., Mrs.Barcas moved to Clark 46 yearsago. She was employed as a book-keeper for Fischer Scientific,Springfield, for many years beforeretiring. Mrs. Barcas was a commu-nicant of St. John the ApostleChurch, Clark.
Surviving are her husband of 56years, Peter J.; a son, Peter P.; adaughter, Charlotte Roncaioli, andfive grandchildren.

Edna BuehlerEdna Behm Buehler, 92, of
Union died May 22 in Care One inMorristown.
Born in Mechanicsville, Pa.,Mrs. Buehler lived in Scotch Plainsfor 62 years before settling toSchaefer Gardens in Union. Shewas the owner of Paul's StationeryStore in South Plainfield and retiredin (981.
Mrs. Buehler was a member ofthe Fanwood PresbyterianWomen's Circle and the KnittingClub that provided blankets for pre-mature babies. She also was an avidbowler.
Surviving are three daughters,Bonnie McKimm, Judy James andBeth Weslock; nine grandchildrenand seven great-grandchildren.

Carmen BumsCarmen D. Burns, 87, of Spring-
field died on May 22.Born in Richmond, Va., Mrs.
Burns lived in Brooklyn, N.Y.,before residing in Springfield for51 years. She was a member of theUnion Baptist Church, Orange, formore than 60 years.
Surviving are her husband of 63years, Lawrence V.; three sons, Dr.Michael L., Vincent M. andLawrence A. Burns; four sisters,
Audrey, Winnie, Maime and Flo-rence, and a grandchild.

ingston.Born in Madison, Mr. DeFranco
moved to Summit 61 years ago. Hewas a postal clerk for the SummitPost Office for 38 years and retired18 years ago. Mr. DeFranco was aveteran of the Marine Corps andserved during the Korean War. Hewas a member of WEINPO ofSummit, and he was an avidbowler.
Surviving are a daughter, Bar-bara Pecca; two sons, Philip andJoseph Jr.; a brother, Lucian; a sis-ter, Rosaria Kaufman; five grand-children and 13 great-grandchil-dren.

DeJohn, 93, ofCedar Grove,formerly ofUnion, died on
May 24.Born in Newark, Mr. DeJohn
lived in Orange for many years andin Toms River for 15 years beforemoving to Union in 1996. Heserved in the Army Air Corps in theSouth Pacific during World War IIand was decorated for his service.Mr. DeJohn worked for many yearsas a tractor-trailer driver prior to hisretirement.
Surviving are a daughter, DianeOstella; a son, George; four grand-chilJrvn and (wo great-grandchil-dren.

William Graff Sr.William J.
Graff Sr., 65, ofLinden diedMay 23 athome.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr.Graff lived in Long Island beforemoving to Linden 30 years ago.
He was a principal in the com-pliance department for AXA Equi-table Financial Co., New York City,where he worked for 35 yearsbefore retiring in 1999.
Mr. Graff was a graduate of St.John University, where he receivedtwo masters degrees in finance. Hewas an Army veteran and served inVietnam.
Mr. Graff was a member of theLinden American Legion Post 102and a life member of the VFW Post
5796 in Kings Park, N.Y., and theNew Jersey Vietnam MemorialCommittee.
Surviving are his wife. Rose;two sons, Matthew and William Jr.;a daughter, Christine Jordan; twobrothers, Gerald and Dennis; a sis-ter, Loretta Graff, and a grandchild.

Frank, 65, alifelong resi-dent of Linden,died May 22 in
the Delaire Nursing Home, Linden.Mr. Frank was a stock handler,
otherwise known as a purchasingagent, for Public Service Electric &Gas Co. in Linden, Essex andSewaren for 36 years and retired in2005.
He was an Army veteran andserved from 1965 to 1967. Mr.Frank was a member of the LindenKnights of Columbus, Loyal Orderof the Moose and the AmericanLegion Post 5, Rah way.
He also was an usher for St.Theresa Church, Linden. Survivingare a brother, Fred, and a sister,Diane Barker.

Joseph HorowitzJoseph Horowitz, 84, of Spring-
field died May 19 at home.Born in Newark, Mr. Horowitz
lived in Springfield for more than50 years.
He was an attorney and partnerwith his son, Victor, in Horowitz &Horowitz of Perth Amboy for morethan 45 years. Mr. Horowitz alsowas a municipal judge in Spring-field.
He graduated from New YorkUniversity Law School in 1952.Mr. Horowitz was a secretary ofSCORE, a member of the JewishHistorical Society, governor of theMaplewood Country Club and for-mer president of the MiddlesexCounty Bar Association.
Also surviving are his wife,Marilyn Schneider; a daughter,Judith Eiss; a sister, MarjorieGrossbarth, and four grandchildren.

Mrs. Hutchison enlisted in theArmy Nurse Corps in 1940, earningthe rank of first lieutenant and wasdecorated with the American Cam-paign and World War II Victorymedals. She was stationed at thetroop hospital as assistant chiefnurse at Fort Oglethorpe, Ga., fromJune 22, 1941 until Dec. 1945, car-ing for the United States military.Mrs. Hutchison returned from theEuropean Theater during WorldWar II.
After the war, she worked asnight supervisor at Elizabeth Gen-eral Hospital, now Trinitas Region-al Medical Center, Elizabeth, asoffice nurse to Dr. Frederick Carra-cino and as a private duty nurse.She received a bachelor of sciencedegree in nursing from Jersey CityState College in 1966 and workedas a school nurse in the Hillsideschool system.
Mrs. Hutchison was active inthe Third Presbyterian Church,Elizabeth, and the Hillside Presby-terian Church. She served as travelcoordinator for the HillsideSeniors.
After retiring to Toms River,Mrs. Hutchison participated in sen-ior activities, trips and events. Shespent the last six years of her life atCare One in Jackson and was activein Care One's recreational activitiesand trips, arts and crafts, baking,canning, gardening and crocheting.Mrs. Hutchison served as residentcouncil president from 2005 untilOctober 2010.
She would have celebrated 69years of marriage with husband,James, on June 20.
Also surviving are a daughter,Carol Hutchison; a son, James; fourgrandchildren and two great-grand-children.

Anthony MaffieAnthony F. Maffie, 78, of Union
died May 23 in Livingston.Born in Newark, Mr. Maffie
was a longtime resident of Union.He graduated from MuhlenbergCollege. Mr. Maffie worked forUnion Carbide as a plant managerbefore retiring after 32 years. Helater worked for the Union schoolsystem as a custodian for nine yearsbefore his retirement in 1996. Mr.Maffie was a member of the UnionKnights of Columbus Council4504.
Surviving are a son, Frank; twodaughters, Ann Neuhaus and Anto-nia Smith, and five grandchildren.

Laura NasoLaura Naso of Kenilworth died
May 22 in Overlook Medical Cen-ter, Summit.
Born in Italy, Mrs. Naso lived inNewark before moving to Kenil-worth.
Surviving are a son, Michael; adaughter, Theresa Somma, andthree grandchildren.

Philip VetronePhilip G Vetrone, 84, of Spring-
field died May 21 in OverlookMedical Center, Summit.
Born in Newark, Mr. Vetronelived in Springfield for 40 years.He was an honorary life member ofthe Knights of Columbus, Spring-field Council 5560.
Mr. Vetrone also served as anusher at St. James Church, Spring-field, for more than 30 years.
Surviving are two daughters,MaryAnn Sarracino and GraceKenny-Buckley; three sisters, MaryGatti, Madeline Lucarella and Ros-alie Klementowicz; eight grand-children and two great-grandchil-dren.
