As summer quickly approaches, Im thinking about the upcoming ministries atDelta Lake Bible Conference Center. Another full Summer season of camps ison the schedule. Staff has been selected and will soon arrive for orientation andtraining. Registrations are being received for Family, Youth and Haven Camps.Also, some very lovely and functional physical changes to the Delta Center andLog Cabin are underway with completion expected before Family BibleConference commences. When you come, I assure you that what you see willcause you to proclaim, Praise the Lord!

During Family Bible Conference a significant milestone will be marked theburning of the Delta Center Mortgage! The original debt of close to $500,000taken on in the early 90s to build the Center was paid off in January. Now thatsworth celebrating!! Funds necessary to complete the stonework and construct aroof overhanging the Delta Caf area were also made available and that work israpidly approaching completion.

If you are a District Official Worker, I passionately urge you to take advantage

of the discount voucher sent to you from Delta to attend all or part of FamilyCamp. Come and see what the Lord is doing at the camp. Rev. Scott Slocum,pastor at Essex Junction Vermont, will be the evening speaker and a solid lineup of other presenters will provide us with wonderful spiritual meals during theweek.

Pray for Rick Barnard and the entire Delta staff as they prepare for a verybusy and challenging Summer of ministry. Pray that lives of many children,youth and adults will be touched and transformed by the Lord Jesus Christ atDelta this Summer.

Delta Lake is your camp. Please support it through your prayers andparticipation.

DAILY GRATITUDE AND THANKSGIVING

Recently I had the opportunity to participate in a church revitalization conferenceentitled: Embers to a Flame in Auburn, Alabama. The book, From Embers toa Flame is filled with many good principles for pastors/church leaders to praythrough and discover those areas the Lord would guide them to pursue.

Under the third major topic, RECOVER, Strategy #3 Gospel-Driven and Christ-Centered, the author of the book and leader of this section of the seminar, HarryL. Reeder III, emphasized the Theological Foundation of Church Vitality.

He states: The gospel is the glorious message that Gods grace has, is and willovercome our sin through the life, death, burial, resurrection and continualintercession of His Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ.

As I heard and contemplated that deliverance message again, I wondered,does the average person in our pews, really know the gospel, are they grippedby the gospel, believe the gospel and even more importantly SHARE thegospel? Reeder spells out the following:

Oh, the smiles! The sparkles in their eyes! The joy on their faces! Seven women raised their hands toaccept Jesus Christ as their Savior at the Colonie Alliance Church Mother/Daughter Banquet. Keith andMaryellen Hobson and I nearly danced with happiness at what God had done. The three of us stayed at thechurch a long time reliving the moment seven souls were saved.

The event was well planned. The speaker gave a salvation message and an invitation to receive Christ.Gospels of John and Steps to Peace with God lay on the altar awaiting those who were seeking that peace.

Bibles were available for those who didnt have one. Women of the church were prepared and eager to meettheir new-born sisters and invite them to a ladies Bible study. The tables decorated, the prime rib prepared,games played, gifts given, songs sung. Humans worked hard to make the moment memorable, but Godorchestrated it all.

Humbled at what God had done, Keith started talking about prayer. He said the church had prayedfervently for weeks that people would come. It was their biggest attendance for a Mother/Daughter banquet ever.Many were not from the church. The church prayed passionately for women to accept Christ. Some of thoseseven women had been prayed for by name. Several had been prayed for for years.

I posted my praise on face book: Colonie Alliance Church prayed fervently for two weeks for thosecoming to the Mother/Daughter banquet. Tonight seven women walked to the altar to indicate they prayed toaccept Jesus as their Savior. My heart is soaring.

Jonathan Graf, Vice President at Harvest Prayer Ministries commented on my status. He said, I wish

more churches would learn what prayer can doespecially when we turn our prayers from the fix it kind to theKingdom kind.I agree with Jonathans comment and I agree with the C&MAs core values that lost people matter to God

and He wants them found and that prayer is the primary work of the people of God. May we hear moretestimonies of what God does when we make prayer the primary work. There are lost people out there. Hewants them found. Im turning my prayers from fix it kind to Kingdom kind. How about you?

"EVANGELSIM" is one of the most feared words in our Christian vocabulary. Why? Because so often weseem to "fail" at it, we can't seem to "close the deal." What if sharing your faith meant just being yourself?At the Savior's Chapel in Rochester, we are taking everyone (at least that's the goal) through a study onevangelism because we feel that part of the responsibility of the church is to equip the church to "go makedisciples."

The book we are using is entitled: "Evangelism Without Additives" by Jim Henderson. We are calling

our Adult Christian Growth classes: "Simple Evangelism." Sharing your faith has never been easier. If theGospel really is good news, why do most Christians avoid evangelism? Why is "witnessing" often a negativeexperience, for both the sender and the receiver. Wouldn't it be great if you could communicate the goodnews without having to become a spiritual salesperson? What if you didn't have to make a speech in orderto share your faith? What if you could use everyday experiences to nudge others closer to Jesus? What if thethings you're already doing counted as evangelism?

Evangelism can be as normal as asking great questions and paying attention to people who needJesus. It involves doing things you already do, but with a new purpose. Jesus called attention to theimportance of even the smallest acts, saying those who offer "a cup of cold water" will be rewarded.

This book isn't another program or pitch. It's a handbook on how to make real connections with non-believers. It gives us the beginning steps towards sharing Christ. Most believers don't even start becausethey are afraid they can't finish well. This book is helping our people to step out and make the effort for

Christ. So many of our folks have said, "What a relief this is to me. I can do this. It takes the pressure andguilt off."A WORD OF CAUTION: Some of you may recognize the name of the author as a man strongly

supporting the Emergent Church Movement. This is true. However, we shouldn't "throw the baby out withthe bath water." By using this book, you are in no way "signing on" to the emergent church principles. Inthe final chapter the author makes this statement: "After reading the first eleven chapters of this book, youmight wonder what I believe about conversion or coming to faith, or what some refer to as "getting saved."In this book we have focused most of our attention on the very front end of the conversion or disciple-makingprocess because that's where most of us ordinary types struggle." We, at the Savior's Chapel, will befollowing this study up in our small groups with another evangelism study which will take them to the nextstep in their relationships that they have built.

I strongly recommend this book to get your folks out of their pews and into the community to beginbuilding relationships with "sinners."
