As we continue to Strive for Excellence and close out the school year, this year’s Annual Fund focus was on providing optimal learning for our students through enhancements in both the classroom and the facility. One enhancement is the construction and installation of IClass Tables in the Digital Media Lab that will be constructed over the summer. This instrument allows for projections to be viewed di-rectly at the student work station. This enables students to work in focused groups or individually at their own pace while being monitored by the teacher. The tables allow for intellectual expan-sion via the introduction of linking a classroom down the hall or across the globe. Contributions received will also allow for upgrades to technology, curriculum enhancement and professional development as well strengthening our outstanding athletic and arts programs. The Annual Fund also provides assistance to students and families that fall on catastrophic hardships through contributions to the Sister Patricia Flarity Scholarship Fund. We acknowledge all of our donors to the Annual Fund in this newsletter. It is not too late to join them.!.The 2013-2014 Annual Fund ends June 30th. You can make a difference by visiting www.depaulcatholic.org and clicking on the Make a Gift button.

WAYS TO GIVE TO THE ANNUAL FUND

Cash: An outright cash gift qualifies as a charitable deduction for federal income tax purposes. Cash gifts can be sent via mail to Maureen O’Connor, Director of Development, DePaul Catholic High School, 1512 Alps Road, Wayne, NJ 07470. Credit card donations can also be made over the phone by calling 973-694-3702, ext. 440. Online Giving: Giving is only a click away. Visit the DePaul Catholic website www.depaulcatholic.org and click on the donate now button. Securities: A gift of securities, stocks and bonds entitles the donor to an income tax de-duction; a gift of appreciated securities may also reduce capital gains tax li-ability. To arrange for a transfer, please contact Maureen O’Connor, Director of Development at 973-694-3702, ext. 440. Matching Gifts Many corporations provide resources to supplement the support by employ-ees for charitable institutions. This is a simple and effective way for contribu-tors to increase the value of their gifts. Donors are encouraged to check with their respective employer’s Human Resources Department about the avail-ability of this program.

A Student Information Commons provides a sense of ownership to students in their education which, in turn, keeps them engaged and motivated. The Com-mons also encourages sharing of information for increased knowledge. As DePaul Catholic continues to Strive for Excellence, the Board of Trustees, Administration, faculty, staff and students see the growing need for a space that will allow students to grow academically beyond the classroom. After con-ducting a thorough assessment of the facility, it has been concluded that the relocation of the existing Media Center to what is now the Assembly Room, would allow for optimal and beneficial use of space for both the students and faculty. The renovation will transform the existing Assembly Room into the Informa-tion Commons. The space will become an efficient research and study center for our students and will provide them with a comfortable and inviting space for both individual and group work. This project will require the construction of two meeting/group study rooms for use by both the students and faculty. Carpeting, new glass doors for the en-trance, individual study centers, new furniture to include tables and chairs as well as comfortable seating will also be included in the renovation. The addi-tion of a complete research database and staffing will round out this project.

“When I transferred here as a freshman

from a public school, I was looking for a place to study be-

tween practices and classes. The Student

Information Com-mons will serve as a place for me to gain direction and access to the resources that

are necessary to succeed as a college prepara-

tory student. “

Mission Statement

DePaul Catholic High School is a co-educational diocesan college preparatory high school whose mission is to foster the

spiritual, intellectual, physical and social growth of its stu-dents. DePaul Catholic enables all students to deepen their faith by teaching the doctrine and traditions of the Catholic

Church; by strengthening their sense of social justice and so-cietal responsibility, and by helping students form a personal

relationship with Jesus Christ. The school community also develops young men and women from varying backgrounds

into skilled, compassionate citizens who respect the dignity of all people and leaders who are willing to meet the challenges of

a complex global society.

A commemorative bench is a wonder-ful way to give a gift in honor or mem-ory of a loved one. Your gift will pro-vide a lasting tribute for generations

to come, as well as supporting the mission of DePaul Catholic. Contact

Maureen O’Connor at 973-694-3702, ext. 440 for more information.
