I am happy to announce that on Saturday, May 16th the long awaited flagpole was at last raised at West Seattle Eagles #2643! Thank you for your patience! When I took on the Patriotism/Flagpole Chairmanship it sounded like a great idea at the time, but I really had no idea what I was getting myself into. Not only was it my first time chairing anything, I had no concept of what purchasing and installing a flagpole would entail. In the end I think the timing is perfect. When it is making news that people around the country are stomping on and burning flags, West Seattle #2643 can be proud to say that we have a shiny, gor- geous, new 35 foot flagpole with our American flag waving a top adorning our front parking lot. I want to say thank you to everyone that donated time and/or money and to those who purchased stars to help raise funds for our flagpole. The wall of the lounge covered in stars was really a sight to see. I also want to give a special shout out to Albert Glencross who surprised us with a very nice size donation and to Obie Wilkerson who recently donated the proceeds of one of his steak nights to the cause. Without all of you, this undertaking would not have been possible. I also would like to give a shout out to West Seattle Construction for digging the 5 ft. hole and in- stalling the foundation sleeve for the flagpole. I really was at loss on how I was going to get this done. Cheryl Wilson (I love you, Cheryl) jokinglyasked them if they wanted to dig the hole for us and they stepped up and did it. Also, thank you to our brothers and sister Don Gregg, Chad Schmidt, Jason West, Dean Overton, Rich Renn, Jeff Sell, Zane Fitterer and Marty Kilgore who helped raise the pole. Again, I was at a loss on how we were going to get a 227 pound pole from horizontal to vertical. There was one scary moment, but these brothers came through for me. Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!! Please join us on Flag Day Saturday, June 14th at 2:30pm for the official flag raising ceremony. Greeting Aerie Brothers and Sisters,

It is with great excitement that, again, I begin my term as your president. I look forward to representing you and our Aerie. As a quick recap, I finished my term as YOUR Worthy President a year ago, and after much searching and asking the general Membership to no avail, I was asked to reprise my role as Worthy Vice President, and therefore again, Presi-dent. I do look forward to Service, and Responsibility, and I hope that in the coming year, we can reveal your drive for leadership.

Don Gregg, Jr. Past Worthy President. Thank you so much for your enthusiasm, leadership and Service to our beloved club for the past year. You have done a wonderful job. Enjoy the fruits of your labor! We have an excellent slate of officers for the coming year. Some are new faces, some are more well known and I know that ALL of you are ready to roll up your sleeves and pitch in a hand when ever and where ever necessary. Please become familiar with our Officers, their faces and introduce yourself, we would love to hear your thoughts and ideas. More on that later.

I have not selected a charity yet, and am more than willing to listen to suggestions.

I look forward to serving you in the coming year. Most importantly, and in the short term is Street Fair. Every year, the Officers have the hardest time in agreeing in what to do for this frenetic, frantic weekend. Our volunteer list is always severely lacking and the onus always falls on very few people-many of those Auxiliary (this is historically and Aerie function) It is NOT the Auxiliary's event and it is improper to continue to rely on them for filling out the volunteer schedule. Brothers!! - let us finally staff this event in the spirit of People Helping People. Sign up sheets will soon be in the Social Room for Security, Door Staff, Cooking, Cleaning, All Around Assistance. Your participation is not only requested, but needed most urgently. The lack of volunteerism may see a different experience during Street Fair.

On that note Brothers, Street Fair is but ONE event thought out the entire year. There are some in this club who give and give of themselves in betterment of our beloved Club. We ALL pay the same dues for membership. We ALL have been through the same initiation. We should ALL have the same enthusiasm for the betterment of our Club, of our communi-ty and of society in general. In that vein, I ask you all. Every-single-one of you...Commit. Commit yourselves to an event. Commit yourself to a charity, commit yourself to a cause greater than yourself. Come to the club for dinner. For breakfast. Any event. As you all receive the same calendar I do, I know there are ALWAYS fun things going on here. We are working on ways to speak a more technological language when it comes to Club event, more to come on that front.

It can NOT be said enough. We NEED you. Your Club NEEDS you. The Membership NEEDS you. I know that times are hard, and that giving of time and of yourself is difficult. The friendships that are struck during a stint in the kitchen are legendary. The funds you raise are satisfying in the knowledge that you are giving back to a need greater than your own. In short, volunteerism in itself is a grand reward.

The meeting schedule for the Aerie has not and will not change (at least in the near future) Meetings are the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:30, right upstairs from the social room. Many of you are here during meeting times. Take a half hour and come and see what the closed door is all about! It is your RIGHT as members, as well as your RESPONI-BILITY. The Junction is a living, breathing, changing thing. Please become a part of our Club's future.

Fraternally Yours, Zane Fitterer Worthy President

    Brothers and Sisters,

I am honored to serve as your Madam President for the coming 2015-2016 Eagle year. Thank you for this opportunity.

The chairs for the Auxiliary are filled with awesome sisters, and I am looking forward to an exciting year serving

    (working) with them.

I would like to thank Amy McGrath for again serving as Madam President this past year. I have learned a lot from her,

and will carry that information with me into the coming year. I, again, will have large shoes to fill following her, but I

know I will be able to lean on her experience for continued success. With the help and support of our Auxiliary Sisters, I

will endeavor to be the best Madam President I can be.

I look forward to working with Worthy President, Zane Fitterer, and the Aerie Officers to accomplish our goals, while

    having a great time together.

My goal for this year is to create a team environment where everyones voice is heard as long as the voice is well in-

tended for the good of the membership. Keep in mind, Sisters and Brothers, there is no I in TEAM. Its best that we

all work better together to achieve a common goal.

My charity for this year is Sacred Heart under the umbrella of Catholic Community Services. It is a shelter for domestic

violence victims. If you would like to know more information about this wonderful organization, their website is

    www.ccsww.org.

Sisters, if you havent already paid your dues they are past due. The dues are now $36.00 per year. You can either

mail them in or come down the club to pay them.

Dont forget: EMOALONMTHAEY!! Every member owes at least one new member to his/her Aerie/Auxiliary

every year. If we all sign up just one new member to our order, we can accomplish so much!

Again, thank you for the opportunity of letting me serve as your Madam President. I look forward to seeing each of you

at the club, during a meeting, or out and about in the community. If you would like to get involved in any way or have

questions or concerns, you can always reach me by email at [email protected].
