Everyone needs to takemeasures to avoidoverheating at this time ofyear, though Pitta
predominant types need to takespecial care in following a Pittareducing diet and lifestylethroughout the summer. Pitta is theAyurvedic dosha made up of fireand water with qualities such as hot, penetrating, oily, sharp, liquid andsour. Its primary function ismetabolism and transformation inthe body, of both food andinformation received by the senses.
For example, all digestive enzymesand bodily hormones are linked withPitta dosha. Our agni (digestive fire)is easily displaced by external heat, drawing internal fire to the surfacewith results such as heat rash/prickly heat, other skin problems, bloodshot eyes, diarrhoea and otherdigestive complaints.
Aggravated Pitta can also manifestin excess anger and losing one’scool- so worth keeping a lid on thisdosha!
To stay well this Summer (think
cooling, calming and moderation):
Adapt your daily routine: Getup early to enjoy the coolmornings, and enjoy walkingbarefoot on dewy grass if youcan. Similarly, enjoy moonlitwalks in the cooler evenings.
 Avoid sun exposure between
noon and 3pm, especially ifyou are a Pitta type withfreckles, moles and paler skin (itages your skin, increases cancerrisk and is highly aggravating toPitta!)
Practice a daily massage withcooling coconut oil to nourishand clear heat from the skin.(normally solid but liquid in thesummer heat, suggesting this isthe best time to use this oilrather than in winter when it’sset solid). No need to heat theoil, and wash off with a coolshower afterwards, avoiding hot

There is a famous proverb, which says "A child showsits feet in the cradle". Thisstands uniquely proved in
the case of Maharshi Sadafal DeoJi. He had a natural devotionaltendency from his infancy.
In his very infancy, Sadguru Deo Jistarted doing strange works. Even asa child he would sit on a rectangularwooden plank and command thechildren to salute him as he was aMahatma. He would take thechildren to the mango orchard, imitate the Satya Narayan Katha (areligious story of the Hindus),proclaim the glory of the Lord inchorus and distribute the pieces ofmango as the Prasad (pious foodoffered as oblation to God). Thenthere were rehearsals of the acts ofLord Rama along with hiscompanions in which he wouldimmerse himself.
When he started going to school, hewas very intelligent and diligent inhis studies, but whenever he feltdistracted he would sit in somelonely place and meditate or go totemple of Shiva and reverently bowbefore the Lord and recite Shiva-Stotra. During his childhood he wasa staunch devotee of Shiva. Earlybath, Pranayams, recitation ofShiva-Mantra and Havan were thedaily routines for both morning andevening. At the age of nine, when heonce forgot the Guru-Mantra, heapproached the Kul-Guru (the Guruof the family) who was a devotee ofShiva, for dictating to him theMantra again and offered the Gurugrains in token of this gift. The Guruobliged him by dictating to him theShiva-Mantra. Once when he wasfive year old, he was drowning in apond when incidentally Pandit SriRambaran Choubey of villageMeuli, who happened to pass thatway, saw him and rescued him fromthe water. Thus leading a pure andsincere life according to the dictatesof the religion, he continued hisearly studies. Whenever he feltdistracted in the mind, he wouldhumbly pray to Lord Shiva.
"O Lord Shankar! I do not knowwhat duties I should perform. I have

Those days Swamiji used to shut
himself in a room at his native house
and practice Yoga. Sometimes he
would go out to a thickly grown field
of Arhar plants or to a garden or
jungle nearby and sit in meditation
for hours together. If per chance
someone went near, he would
entreat him to leave him alone or
alternatively he would himself move
out and sit in Sadhana at some
other place. This was the state of his
total Vairagya and he preferred to be
alone and at isolated places. This
state is known as the Awadhoot
state of mind.
