Hello Summer

It is high time that I introduce myself to the Surfcrest community. When Kim Marie left

GoldenWest Management I was plucked out of retirement and asked to join the Surfcrest team in September of 2016. I've had the opportunity to

meet many owners during my monthly property walks, Board meetings as well as

phone and email conversations. You have a beautiful community and your Board of

Directors work long hours outside their monthly meetings to make sure it stays that way. My 14 years of experience as a Property Manager is

barely noticeable compared to the collective years your friends and neighbors have given to

Surfcrest. Should you see me on site please free to ask me anything or email me

at [email protected].

Anyone that grew up in Southern Cal knows Naugles. Started by an original

partner of Del Taco back in 1970, Naugles grew to 225 restaurants by 1986. Ironically

Naugles and Del Taco were both purchased by another owner in 1988.

Seeking to improve brand awareness the new owner opted to change most of the Naugles restaurants to Del Taco outlets,

and a California icon was lost…

But guess what ? They’re BAaaack, and right here in Huntington Beach! If you

long for an original Bun Taco or Combo Cup, you can get those, along with

Naugles other “blast from the past” menu items, on the boardwalk across from the

HB Hyatt at their seasonal beachfront location. It’s the perfect remedy for a summer taco craving, and if you bike

there you burn some of the calories you consume, so it’s a win-win.

Relive the past AND make some new memories at the same time- head down to Naugles (and don't forget the extra red

sauce on the side…).

Marilyn & Wes Grangruth Marilyn & Wes came to Surfcrest via their daughter Kelly, who lives in the Estates. They promised her that if new condos were ever built by the beach they would move… the rest, as they say, is history. These great neighbors were some of the original residents to move into the community.

Daughter Kelly is still close by, just up the street. Marilyn & Wes have 2 grandsons, Weston 27, and Austin, 23. They call son-in-law Bill the “dream son they always longed for”. Awwww…. Most of the family still lives in CA, with some outside in Minnesota and Florida. Talk about your weather extremes !

We asked Marilyn & Wes a few questions about the city they love to call home:

What do you like most about HB ? Perfect weather, lots of attractions, friendly people… You can be active or just lay low. What is your fav HB restaurant? We love Mexican food at Mario’s! And Super Mex for yummy fish tacos. What do you like most about Surfcrest? Location and wonderful neighbors- being able to interact with children & young adults who are always smiling. Favorite thing to do in HB? Bike path- Tuesday night Farmers Market tamales on Main Street- We look forward to checking out the new Senior Center at the Park. What does it take to be an HB “Local”? The beach is a “people” place- we like to give back to the community. Paying property taxes better qualify us as being locals !
