JUNE 2020 NRL22 OFFICIAL COURSE OF FIRE June introduction: Welcome to the first COF of the 2020/2021 season. NRL22 is an absolute amazing shooting sport and a great opportunity for new and seasoned shooters to compete on a level playing field. As many states are beginning to loosen the restrictions on public gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic make sure that you are still adhere to your local laws and policies. Continue to maintain at least a 6-foot separation from each other and If you are planning on using another person’s rifle/gear we recommend that shooters bring sanitation wipes with them and wipe down what was borrowed. The NRL22 website was completely overhauled to allow shooters to have their own shooter profile so that they can see how well they are doing throughout the season and where they stand compared to the rest of the competition. If you aren’t a member of the NRL22 we highly recommend that you become a member so that you can not only see your standings and track your points but so that you can be entered in the monthly live prize drawings. You will also be able to compete in NRL22X matches and you’ll have access to special NRL discounts from participating sponsors. Thank you to all the advisors and competitors that played a vital role in this year’s official rules. These rules will not be altered unless there was a gross oversight on our part. All rule questions should be directed at each club’s Match Director. The 2020/2021 NRL22 rules can be found at https://nrl22.org/about/rules/. If you need clarification on the rule change regarding equipment then click this link https://youtu.be/OlQTW8NG1Mo. Now we’d like to introduce a seasoned COF designer, Match Director, and competitor, Erik Severson from Sage Range out of Ridgecrest, CA. Range requirements: This month’s COF will require the NRL22 standard target package, ladder, tire, 55-gallon barrel, stop watch that can time down to a tenth of a second. We will not require MDs to have the 2020/2021 expansion pack for this month’s COF. This will allow MD’s to have sufficient time to purchase the extra targets. Safety suggestions: Weed whacker plastic string works very well for Empty Chamber Indicators (ECI). Using ECI ensures a rifle is not loaded and especially useful for Ruger 10/22’s. The stages’ starting positions were deliberately set up for safety. Ensure RO’s are very close to new shooters and kids, especially in the positional and barricade stages in case the 180 rule is broken or a transition is made without the action open or safety engaged. Scoring submissions: Download the NRL22 Scores sheet from the downloads section on NRL22.org, fill out the results, and submit scores sheet to [email protected], followed by payment for admin fee. Deadline for submissions is July 1st, 2020. Keep in mind that only NRL22 members are eligible for prizes and while we have a 30-day grace period for membership, if the prizes are already distributed, it is the competitor's loss. The live Facebook show for prizes will happen on July 8th, 2020.
