Life, senior active and junior active members shall be eligible to participate in all classes at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions at the Preliminary Level or above and Combined Driving Competitions at the Advanced Level, Dressage, Reining and Vaulting Competitions and Endurance Rides. A nonmember may participate as a handler, rider, driver, owner, lessee, agent, coach or trainer at Regular Competitions, Eventing Competitions, Dressage Competitions, Reining Competitions and Combined Driving Competitions upon payment of a $30 Show Pass fee. Participants in the following classes are exempted from the Requirements of this rule: 1) leadline; 2) exhibitions; 3) games and races; 4) classes for 4-H members; 5) walk trot and academy classes (academy classes are classes limited to horses used regularly in a lesson program); 6) USDF introductory level tests, pas de deux and quadrille classes; 7) NRHA Endorsed Reining Competitions. 8) Opportunity classes, 9) citizens of other nations who have proof, in English, of current membership in good standing of their own National Federation, 10) USEA beginner novice division; and 11) assistant handlers in Dressage Sport Horse Breeding classes.

The Horse Show Management reserves the right to limit entries in the Welcome Stake, as well as Franktown Meadows 3’ Hunter Derby and USHJA International Hunter Derby classes, to refuse, accept conditionally, or to cancel any entries, disqualify any riders or exhibitors, prohibit exhibition of entries, cancel awards, prizes, change any course, reschedule any class, after due notice to the exhibitors; to change rings or rotate judges; to change specifications in the class as competition warrants. Each horse entered in the competition will be under the control of competition management, but the management will in no case be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur, and it shall be a condition of entry that each exhibitor hold the competition and the officials, employees, sponsors of the competition blameless for any loss or accident to his/her horse(s), employee(s), or equipment. The same horse may compete in the Welcome Stake, Franktown Meadows 3’ Hunter Derby, and USHJA International Hunter Derby at Franktown Meadows.

EVERY CLASS OFFERED HEREIN WHICH IS COVERED BY THE RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE CURRENT USEF RULE BOOK WILL BE CONDUCTED

drugs/MEdicationsCurrent USEF Rules relating to drugs and medications will be enforced. A payment of $16.00 ($8.00 drug and med., $8.00 USEF Admin.) will be required for each horse entered. In accordance with Federal Waste Tracking Act of 1989 which restricts the disposal of medical waste, Bio Hazardous Medical Waste Containers will be provided in the stable area. All exhibitors and their agents will be responsible for the proper disposal of this waste.

PolingManual Poling and the use of bamboo offsets are prohibited at all times on the grounds of Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility. In the event of a violation of this regulation, the involved horse and trainer of record indicated on the entry form may be suspended from further competition at the show at which the violation occurred.

24 Hour rulEAll horses competing in the International Hunter Derby must be on the competition grounds 24 hours prior to the start of the first round. A horse may be exempt from this 24 hour period for certain circumstances only if approved by the USHJA and the competition management prior to the 24 hour deadline.

RefundsBefore the closing date of entries full refunds will be given. After the closing date of entries, STALL FEES WILL NOT BE REFUNDED. After the show starts, with the official show vet’s certificate only, entry refunds will be given, minus a $50 scratch fee and fees for classes already held prior to notification at the horse show office, whether exhibited in or not.

Motorized VehiclesMinors who do not have a valid driver’s license which allows them to operate a motorized vehicle in the state in which they reside will not be permitted to operate a motorized vehicle of any kind including, but not limited to, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, or farm utility vehicles on the competition grounds of licensed competitions. Minors who have a valid temporary license may operate the above described motorized vehicles as long as they are accompanied by an adult with a valid driver’s license. The parent(s), legal guardian(s), or individual who signs the entry blank as a parent or guardian of a minor operating a motorized vehicle in violation of this rule are solely responsible for any damages, claims, losses, or actions resulting from operation. Violations of this rule be cause for sanctions against the parent(s), guardian(s) and/or trainer(s) who are responsible for the child committing the offense. Penalties may include exclusion of the child, parent(s), guardian(s), and/or trainer(s) from the competition grounds for the remainder of the competition and charges being filed against any of the above individuals in accordance with Chapter 6. Wheelchairs and other mobility assistance devices for individuals with disabilities are exempt from this rule.

JogAll horses entered in the International Hunter Derby class must jog for soundness during the Official Jog prior to the start of the first round in order to compete. The Official Jog must be held within 12 hours of the start of the first round. This jog will be run in a manner similar to an FEI jog. A horse must be officially entered in the class before it will be allowed to jog. Proper attire is required (i.e., riding clothes or proper attire which an exhibitor would wear to compete in a model class). All horses must be presented at the Official Jog with their actual competition number and wearing a conventional hunter bridle, including noseband. The judging panel for the Official Jog shall consist of the competition veterinarian and a minimum of

one judge from the judging panels officiating for the class. The jog surface must be level. Horses shall be evaluated from the side and following consultation with the veterinarian, the decision of the participating judge(s) is final and binding and not subject to further appeal of any kind. If a horse does not pass the jog; the exhibitor may request to re-present the horse to the judge(s). The judge(s) may decide to allow the horse to re-present at any time up to one hour prior to the start of the class. The vet and one of the judges from the original panel must be present.

FarriErNo farrier other than the official horse show farrier will be permitted to shoe horses on the horse show grounds without the express permission of show management.

• A bending line

• A long approach to a single fence

The course may also include:

• Tight turn options

• Different tracks

• Clever options for jump approaches

No rider meeting is required. An order of go shall be drawn by hand or computer generated and posted at least one hour prior to the start of the class.

Round 2 Handy Hunter CourseThere will be a minimum of eight obstacles. Fences will be set at 3’, with a minimum of two option fences set at 3'5". Round two will be judged on performance, hunter pace and jumping style, quality and substance, movement, handiness, and brilliance of pace. After the score is given, one point will be added for each high option fence jumped without major fault (maximum of four points).

The top 12 horses from the first round will return for the second round. They will return in reverse order of score for the first round; lowest score going first and highest score going last. The classic will be judged by two judges sitting together. The score from round one will be added to the score from round two to obtain the overall score from each horse.

Jump Off RoundThe Judging Panel must award a different base score to each competitor in any one round. All ties in all rounds will be broken using the base score (before adding height bonus points) of that round. In the case of ties occurring in the overall results, the Second Round base scores (before adding height bonus points) will be used to break any ties. There will NOT be a jump off for tied horses.

sPEciFications • Open to all eligible horses who are recorded with the Federation and registered with USHJA.

• Competition Managemtn will collect and remit to USHJA the per horse entrant fee of $50.

• Horses must be on the property a minimum of 24 hours prior to the start of the class and must remain on the competition grounds until competition of the class.

• All horses must be ridden in the designated school areas and competition numbers must be worn at all times while mounted.

• The order of go will be drawn by hand at the rider’s meeting. In the case of multiple horses being ridden by the same rider, every effort will be made that there will be a minimum of eight horses (if available) separating multiple rides.

• All horses entered must jog for soundness during the Official Jog prior to the start of the first round in order to compete. The Official Jog must be held within 12 hours of the start of the first round. This jog will be run in a manner similar to an FEI jog.

• Formal/dress attire required (per HU125).

• Riders are limited to competing on no more than four horses.

• In order to earn USEF Horse of the Year points, exhibitors must declare in which section points are to count by submitting a completed USHJA Declaration Form to the Show Office by the end of the competition. Only Juniors and Amateurs may declare for the applicable Junior or Amateur-Owner section. In order to earn points toward IHD Awards and Finals, Horses must be enrolled in the International Hunter Derby program. Enrollment is not required to compete in the class.

two round classicFences 3’6”-4’, with at least four (4) option fences 4’3” or higher per round. To be judged under the Open Numerical scoring system by two panels of two judges each. One Panel will be designated the tie-breaking panel for Round 1; this panel will also be the tie-breaking panel for the jump-off, if any. The other Panel will be the tie-breaking panel for Round 2. To be scored on quality, movement, jumping style, manners and way of going. Pace and brilliance are to be rewarded. Jumping decorations to utilize a shorter track is not permissible in any round.

Round 1 Classic Hunter Style CourseTo be shown over a Hunter Classic course of at least 10 fences. In addition to the base score, each judging panel must award an Option Bonus Score consisting of one additional point for every higher height option fence jumped. Scores will be added to determine the total score for the round. The top 12 will return in reverse of scores for the Second Round. In the case of ties, the Base score of the tie-breaking panel will be used to break the tie.

Round 2 Handy Hunter CourseTo be shown over a Handy Hunter course of at least 10 fences. In addition to the base score, each judging panel must award an Option Bonus Score consisting of one additional point for every higher height option fence jumped and a Handy Bonus Score between zero and 10 bonus points. Scores will be added to determine the total score for the round. In the case of ties, the Base score of the tie-breaking panel will be used to break the tie.

Scores from Round 1 and Round 2 will be added to determine the overall winners. In the case of a tie for First Place, a Jump-off will be held. In the case of ties for all other places, the Base score of the Round 2 tie-breaking panel will be used to break the tie.

Jump Off RoundIn the case of an overall tie for First Place, a Jump-off will be held. To be shown over a course of at least 8 fences. Scoring to be the same as for the Handy Hunter Round. Jump-off score to be added to the total score from Round 1 and Round 2 to determine the winners.
