Meet Mandalay neighbour Peter WrightThis month we meet one of Club Mandalay’s newest members, Peter Wright.

He and his family are currently building in the Estate and are looking forward to moving in once their home is complete.

Peter works for Tiger Air as a pilot and enjoys his working days flying around Australia. As a young child Peter had the opportunity to sit in the cockpit of a plane which ignited his passion for flying.

Peter’s young son Paddy, is already a fan of Monday’s Munchkin Club where he gets to spend the morning playing with the other Mandalay kids. We look forward to seeing you both around the Clubhouse.

Continued weekly rainfall through April and May coupled with above average temperatures has seen all couch surfaces retain reasonable growth and colour throughout April and into May.

Nitrogen iron and pigment dye application to both fairways and tee tops will aid in colour retention through winter. As the couch surfaces go into dormancy this is used by the grass to protect itself from cold weather and also store energy reserves for the upcoming spring and summer.

We have introduced pre-emergent herbicide to the tank mix of round up for spraying garden bed weeds, which has resulted in reduced germination of weeds.

During the winter months extra mulch will be placed around the golf course and estate gardens beds for weed suppression and moisture retention.

Sand importation for the bunkers continued throughout April and May with works focused on moving existing sand around bunkers to aid in sand depth consistency and overall presentation.

Our heights for all cut surfaces were lifted at the end of April to improve leaf protection and surface presentation. The height changes are as follows:

We are hoping to see good Winter and Spring rainfall to fill the dams ready for next summer’s irrigation season.

MEET YOUR COMMITTEE - FIONA WELLINGTON

Fiona has lived on the Mandalay estate for a year and is one of the inaugural members of the Members Committee.

A keen golfer and exerciser, Fiona loves Mandalay’s resort-style club and living.

A 25 year resident of Mitchell Shire, Fiona, has served on several committees and is heavily involved in local activities.

Fiona is very passionate about the success of Mandalay and is honoured to be a member of the Club Mandalay Members Committee.

Remember to always enter the bunker at its lowest point and not walk down the face. This aids your game and also the games of all golfers to follow.

HIT THE GYM AND WIN A FITBIT THIS WINTER!To keep you motivated over Winter, Club Mandalay wants to reward the member who uses the gym most with a FITBIT Flex.

The FITBIT is designed to keep track of your activity and help you reach your fitness goals.

Head Chef Steve

Meet Steve Collins, our Head Chef.

Steve has been with Club Mandalay since opening in August 2015 and is responsible for producing some exceptional menus.

Steve has over 20 years of culinary experience working throughout Australia and his speciality is modern Australian cuisine using locally sourced produce wherever possible.

His most sought after creation thus far has been the deconstructed Pavlova but he has plenty of other delicious ideas in the wings!
