If your child is interested, MEETS THE AIMS CRITERIA (found online) and has not yet signed up to an individual code, then please email our Director of Sport:[email protected]. There are strict qualifying standards, we will have students competing in: swimming, tennis, rock climbing, multi-sport, yachting, canoe slalom sport, golf, mountain biking, badminton and table tennis players. Other sports on offer are: BMX, squash and indoor bowls. It is a highly competitive competition. This year, the event will take place in Tauranga and Mount Maunganui from 8 -13 September. We look forward to another large and successful BBI team to represent BBI this year. PARKING / STOPPING Bucklands Beach Road is a busy road. If possible, please encourage your child to walk to and from school. Alternatively, your child could be dropped off and picked up at a point close to school. Please note that St John’s Church next door to us, also runs a kindergarten, and is not to be used as a pick up or drop off place. Strictly no parking in the bus bay area. Please ensure that you obey the parking restrictions around the school – especially yellow line areas or on the footpaths. The speed limit is 40km in the immediate area around the school. If you are collecting students from the bus bay, please park in the areas provided. This is a “no waiting” area as the bus needs to get through, so please just drop off or pick up in this area. STUDENTS LEAVING SCHOOL DURING SCHOOL HOURS/ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL Please ensure that if students are leaving school early or during the school day, that a note is sent to the class teacher stating the time and the reason. Students are expected to be at the office signed out and waiting for their parents at the specified time. This avoids interruptions to student learning in the classroom, and also teaches students to take some responsibility for themselves. In cases of emergency – then of course the office staff will go to classes to call students when necessary. If your child is away for any reason please ensure you inform the office. Students should not be arriving at school before 8am as there is no supervision unless they are at school for a specific activity eg. running club, cheerleading.

To whomever heard Mike King and to those who did not hear him, he has established a Nationwide programme called “I Am Hope”. This charity has an aim to raise awareness of mental health issues with youth and to raise funds so that all students aged under 19 can access free counselling. Mike King stipulated that this ‘is absolutely true, free counselling for any student and they can go for as many times as they need’; it does not matter the wealth, the ethnicity, the gender- it applies to ALL students. This website https://www.iamhope.org.nz/chooseacounsellor has been setup by Mike King and the “I am Hope Foundation”. This is the place you can go to find access to the free counselling.
