Myth: If I starve myself I will lose more weight

Fact: You need to eat to burn fat!

This is one of the biggest mistakes people make

when exercising intensely or lightly. They’ve

heard they need to “eat less and move more.”

Therefore, we falsely assume that if we eat

nothing and exercise will burn the highest

amount of fat.

Which does have some logic to it, but it

couldn’t be farther from the truth.

By playing the starvation game you cannot win.

Your body will slow down, it will store body

fat, and you’ll feel tired, weak, lethargic and

sluggish.

Yes you will lose weight – but it’s not the kind

you are after. You will burn muscle (the stuff

we are trying to build) and your body will store

fat. To make matters worse, when you

eventually fail – and all “starvation” diets are

unsustainable – you will put on all the weight

you once lost and probably 10-30% more.

You’re then left with a body that is a less

efficient fat burner.

COMMON MYTHS WITH EXERCISE

Common lifestyle Myths that people believe are correct, when in actual fact you are doing your body harm!

What you need to do is commit to eating 5-7

small, frequent meals throughout the day. You

shouldn’t go more than 3 hours without meals

whilst you’re awake. There are a few reasons

for this. Firstly, it convinces your mind that

there is an abundance of energy and food

coming at regular intervals, and it knows that

there’s no famine just around the corner. It will

boost your energy, as you now have more

energy coming in at regular intervals. It will

also reduce hunger – the leading cause of

overeating – as you are constantly “refilling”

the tank.

Right now, your body is burning fuel like a

small, 2-cylinder car. What you want to do

however is replace that motor with a large, V8

engine that will really use up your food sources,

and ultimately, your fat stores!

I hope this this article has given you an insight

into how you should eat not only as an athlete

but also for everyday life.
