DO NOT ASSUME YOUR BOOKING IS CONFIRMED WITHOUT A CONFIRMATION EMAIL OSHC TERM FEES MUST BE UP TO DATE BEFORE BOOKINGS CAN BE ACCEPTED The daily cost is $75 per child (unless booking an activity with an additional cost). *Please note: Unless a Doctor’s Certificate is provided this amount is Non-Refundable once your child has received a confirmed booking All Radford College OSHC programs, except Before School Care, are approved services for both Child Care Benefit (CCB) and Child Care Rebate (CCR) If your child does not have sun smart clothing (sleeved shirt), enclosed foot wear, a sun smart hat and a drink bottle on a daily basis, you will be asked to source these prior to your child being accepted into the Program that day About our Program Radford College Outside School Hours Care aims to provide a safe, caring and educational environment that enables children to participate in play, recreational and relaxation experiences, interact positively with peers and adults, and develop life skills. We endeavour to provide an environment and experiences, which stimulate wonder and curiosity, respect and independence. Our educator to child ratio during all excursions is 1:8. At all other times our ratio is 1:11. Risk assessments for all activities and excursions are completed and available upon request. About our staff The program is staffed according to Service Approval issued by the Children’s Policy and Regulation Unit. Heidi Norton, Rachelle Hayward and Jordan Austin are the qualified Coordinators for this program and at least one is on the premises at all times. They will be supported by experienced assistants, most of whom your children will know from After School Care. All staff members hold Working with Vulnerable People cards and a number hold a First Aid Certificate, including asthma and anaphylaxis training. What to bring As we do not provide food for the children, please supply all food for your child, including morning and afternoon snacks and lunch, as well as a drink bottle. A transportable lunch is one in a bag, not a normal lunch box. PLEASE DO NOT SEND FOODS CONTAINING NUTS. It is recommended children wear suitable clothes for play. All care is taken for messy activities (smocks provided) but no responsibility is held for soiled or dirty clothing as a result of play. Money and valuables are best left at home as no responsibility can be taken for children’s personal items.

Junior Years April Program Highlights

Monday 16th April – Slot Car Racing (JS/EY Combined)

*Please arrive by 9:00am, arrival back at Radford by 3.00pm

Ready, Set, Go! Today we are off and racing at Mitchell’s Indoor Slot Car Centre, where the cars run smooth and fast! The children will have fun controlling the slot cars on multiple race tracks reaching speeds of 200km. The real question is…who will be our next Lightening McQueen?

Transport will be by Radford bus. We will leave school at 9.30am and return by 3.00pm. There will be approximately 100 children attending this excursion with 13 Staff (three different sessions). *Please pack a clearly labelled transportable lunch and full water bottle.

Tuesday 17th April – Hoyts Movie Theatre “Sherlock Gnomes” (Rated PG) (JS/EY Combined)

*Please arrive by 8:30am, arrival back at Radford by 2.00pm

Help Sherlock Gnomes solve the mystery of the missing Gnomes! After lots of Garden Gnomes go missing, Gnomeo and Juliet look to Detective Gnomes to help solve the case of their missing family and friends. Transport will be by Radford bus. We will leave school at 9.00am and return by 2.00pm. There will be approximately 50 children attending this excursion with 7 Staff.

Tuesday 17th April – Hoyts Movie Theatre “Peter Rabbit” (Rated G) (JS/EY Combined) *Please arrive by 8:30am, arrival back at Radford by 2.00pm

Peter Rabbit and his three sisters – Flopsy, Mopsy and Cotton-Tail enjoy spending their days in Mrs McGregor’s vegetable garden. When one of Mr. Mcgregor’s relatives suddenly move in, he’s less than thrilled to discover a new family of rabbits in his home. Transport will be by Radford bus. We will leave school at 9.00am and return by 2.00pm. There will be approximately 50 children attending this excursion with 7 Staff.

Wednesday 18th April – Cheernastics! (JS/EY Combined)

*Please arrive by 9:30am, arrival back at Radford by 2.30pm

Today children will have the opportunity to learn the basics of gymnastics, where they will combine tumbling, stunt work, jumping, acrobatics and dance! They will then learn an action-packed routine to “show off” all their new skills for the end of session performance.

Transport will be by Radford bus. We will leave school at 10.00am and return by 2.30pm. There will be approximately 80 children attending this excursion with 10 Staff (two different sessions).

OR

Wednesday 18th April – Bushwalk – Yerrabi Walking Track (JS) *Please arrive by 9:00am, arrival back at Radford by 5.00pm

A walk at the southern end of Namadgi National Park, Yerrabi Track will meander through forest,

swampy grassland and an exposed hilltop (Boboyan Trigg), ending at a rocky outcrop with

sweeping views of the Bimberi Wilderness. Children will need to bring a packed lunch, drink

bottle, small backpack and warm clothing. This excursion is only suitable for children who enjoy

being active and are happy to walk the 4 kilometre bush track.

Transport will be by Radford bus. We will leave school at 9.30am and return by 5.00pm. There will be approximately 50 children attending this excursion with 7 Staff

Thursday 19th April – Challenge Accepted! (In House Day – JS)

*Please arrive by 9:00am

Are you up for a challenge? Can you think outside the box? Come and test out your thinking skills at our team challenge day where your creativity will be encouraged, and your social skills put to the test. Your team will compete against all the others for the ultimate prize and the OSHC Team Challenge Trophy. There will be approximately 100 children attending this incursion with 10 Staff.

Friday 20th April – Questacon (JS/EY Combined) *Please arrive by 8:30am, arrival back at Radford by 3.00pm

With over 200 hands on exhibits and 8 interactive rooms all investigating the wonders of Science, we will keep ourselves ridiculously busy! Upon our return to Radford, we will get “hands on” with some science experiments. **It is very important that you arrive by 8.30am today so that we can arrive at Questacon in time for the Science Show

Transport will be by Radford bus. We will leave school at 8.45am and return by 3.00pm. There will be approximately 120 children attending this excursion with 15 Staff. *Please pack a clearly labelled transportable lunch and full water bottle.

Monday 23rd April – Lake Ginninderra Bike Ride (JS) *Please arrive by 9:00am, arrival back at Radford by 4.00pm Today children need to bring their bikes and helmets to school, for an adventurous ride around Lake Ginninderra. We will ride from Radford to the Lake and then let loose to explore and play (under supervision). Return to Radford will be via pedal power. This excursion is only suitable for confident riders who want to be active for the entire day. Children will need to bring a small backpack or have a drink bottle holder on their bike. *Please pack a clearly labelled transportable lunch in a paper bag. These will be transported separately to our lunch spot.

Transport will be by Bicycle to and from Radford. We will leave school at 9.30am and return by 4.00pm. There will be approximately 30 children attending this excursion with 5 Staff

Monday 23rd April – Dr Graham Walker “Going Ballistics” (In House Day JS/EY Combined) *Please arrive by 9:00am

Combine eggs, teddy bears, vacuum cleaners, rockets and basketballs with plenty of explosive gasses and you have the recipe to go Ballistics! Today we welcome the world renowned Dr Walker to present engaging, entertaining and educational science experiments right here at Radford!

There will be approximately 80 children attending this incursion with 8 Staff.

Tuesday 24th April – Super Robotics Workshop (In House Day – JS) *Please arrive by 9:00am

Super Robotics takes educational robotics to the next level! Children can use hand held controllers

to drive robots right out of the box. Today, children will have the opportunity to learn the basics of

Robotics, exercise creative thinking, design a Robot and then engage in a Robot controlled soccer

match! We are only limited by our imaginations!!

There will be approximately 80 children attending this incursion with 8 Staff.

Thursday 26th April – Bubble Soccer AND Nerf War Challenge (In House Day – JS) *Please arrive by 9:00am

We are SO excited today as we not only get to play an action-packed game of bubble soccer in giant inflatable balls, but we also get to have the ultimate Nerf War experience in a battle arena with lots of obstacles. Let the fun begin!! *Please note: All activities are supervised by dedicated instructors and the children are fully briefed and wear safety glasses. There will be approximately 100 children attending this incursion with 10 Staff

Friday 27th April – Mogo Zoo (JS/EY Combined) *Please arrive by 7.15am (Bus will depart on time at 7.30am!) arrival back at Radford by 6.00pm

Today we are heading down to Mogo, located 10km south of Batemans Bay, to visit Mogo Zoo. The Zoo provides an amazing opportunity to meet with over 250 animals in a beautiful bush setting. This collection includes; Gorillas, Meerkats, Snow Leopards, Perigone Falcons and the stunning and rare White Lions. We will enjoy our lunch at the Zoo before heading to the beach for a quick paddle in the water with our feet and an opportunity to build a sand castle! We will then board the bus for our relaxing journey back to Canberra. *Please Note this is a Long Day Excursion. Please pack plenty of food including morning and afternoon tea, lunch, sunscreen, a water bottle, clothes that can get wet (boardies and rashie are fine), enclosed footwear that can get wet and a towel. Transport will be by Radford bus. We will leave school at 7.30am and will return by 6pm. There will be approximately 35 children attending this excursion with 4 Staff.

Friday 27th April – LEGO BRICKS (In House Day - JS/EY Combined) *Please arrive by 9.00am

Today the children will enter the Bricks 4 Kidz “Amusement Park” full of thousands of pieces of LEGO and build their favourite rides. They will learn how to make things spin, roll, turn and rock. Motorised models maximise the action and fun! After the session, children will have the opportunity to create their very own LEGO masterpieces!
