If there is a question that you do not want to answer because of privacy concerns, then

2. The Court and the parties estimate that, after a jury is selected, this case may last
approximately 22 trial days. The trial will begin on January 19, 2016 and last until approximatelyFebruary 23, 2016. To be on the safe side, therefore, we are requiring that the jurors who serve on
this case must be available through the end of February 2016. Trial will be in session, generallyspeaking, from Monday to Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. to
noon. The Court will arrange for hotel accommodations near the courthouse in Phoenix, Arizona.
Jurors are free to return home on Fridays and return to Phoenix on Sunday. Your travel costs will
be reimbursed.

STATEMENT OF CASE:
The Plaintiff in this case is the United States of America represented by the Department of Justice.
The Defendants are the City of Hildale, Utah; the Town of Colorado City, Arizona; and Twin City

Water Authority. In this case, the United States has alleged that the Defendants engaged in a
pattern or practice of police misconduct and have violated the First, Fourth, and Fourteenth
Amendments of the United States’ Constitution. Specifically, the United States has alleged thatthe Defendants’ shared police department, the Marshal’s Department, has engaged in a pattern or
practice of misconduct that includes giving control over police operations to the Fundamentalist
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (“FLDS Church”), a religious group, in violation ofthe First Amendment; engaging in unreasonable searches and seizures in violation of the Fourth
Amendment; and discriminating on the basis of religion in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment.
The United States has also alleged that the Defendants violated the federal Fair Housing Act byengaging in a pattern or practice of discrimination in housing on the basis of religion. Specifically,
the United States has alleged that the Defendants denied water services and police services on the
basis of religion. The Defendants deny all of these allegations. Specifically, the Defendants assert
that their police officers have not engaged in a pattern or practice of misconduct and do notdiscriminate on the basis or religion. The Defendants also assert that they have not engaged in any
pattern or practice to deny water services or police services to any resident due to religion.
