From Fabric A, fussy cut:twelve 10-1/2” squares

From Fabric B, cut:eight 2-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut: thirty-one 2-1/2” x 10-1/2” sashing strips

From Fabric C, cut:two 2-1/2” x WOF strips. Subcut: twenty 2-1/2” squares for the cornerstones

From Fabric D, cut:fi ve 4-1/2” x WOF strips. Sew together, end to end, then trim to yield: two 4-1/2” x 50-1/2” side inner borders two 4-1/2” x 46-1/2” top/bottom inner borders

From Fabric E, cut:two 3-7/8” x WOF strips. Subcut: sixteen 3-7/8” squareseleven* 2-1/8” x WOF strips. Sew together, end-to-end, then trim to yield: four 2-1/8” x 58-1/2” for the side pieced borders four 2-1/8” x 46-1/2” for the top/bottom pieced borders *by trimming the selvages sparingly, you may be able to make these borders from ten WOF strips instead.two 2-1/8” x WOF strips. Set aside for strip piecing. eight 2-1/2” x WOF strips for the binding

From Fabric F, cut:eleven* 2-1/8” x WOF strips. Sew together, end-to-end, then trim to yield: four 2-1/8” x 58-1/2” for the side pieced borders four 2-1/8” x 46-1/2” for the top/bottom pieced borders *by trimming the selvages sparingly, you may be able to make these borders from ten WOF strips instead.two 2-1/8” x WOF strips. From Fabric H, cut:fi ve 3-1/2” x length of fabric strips. Sew together, end-to-end, and set aside for the side pieced bordersFrom the remaining with of fabric, cut: nine 3-1/2” x width of fabric strips. Sew together, end-to-end, and set aside for the top and bottom pieced borders

Cutting Instructions

Step 1: Arrange the Fabric A blocks together as indicated in the Quilt Assembly Diagram. Sew each row together, using Fabric B sashing strips between each block and at the beginning and end of each row. Press seams toward the sashing. Repeat to make four block rows.

Step 2: Gather four cornerstone squares and three sashing strips. Sew each row together, using cornerstones between each sashing strip and at the beginning and end of each row. Press seams toward the sashing. Repeat to make fi ve sashing rows.

Step 3: Sew the sashing and block rows together, pinning and nesting the seams. Press seams open or to the sashing.

Step 4: Sew the Fabric D side inner borders to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the borders. Sew the Fabric D top and bottom inner borders to the quilt center. Press toward the borders.

Step 5: Sew the 58-1/2” strips together along the longest side, in the following order:2-1/8” Fabric E - 2-1/8” Fabric F - 3-7/8” Fabric G - 2-1/8” Fabric F - Fabric 2-1/8” E. Press the seams to one side. Repeat to make the second side pieced border.

Assemble the Pieced Border and Blocks

Step 6: Repeat Step 6 with the 46-1/2” strips to form the top and bottom pieced borders.

Step 7: Sew one 2-1/8” Fabric E and F strip together along one long edge. Press the seam toward the darker fabric. Repeat with the second pair of strips. Subcut the strip sets into thirty-two 2-1/8” x 2-3/4 units. Sew two units together to form a four-patch, pressing the seam open or to one side. Repeat to make sixteen four-patch units.

Step 8: Gather four four-patch units, four Fabric E squares and one Fabric G square. Arrange in three rows of three, following the Block Assembly Diagram and noting the fabric placement and orientation of the four-patch units. Sew the squares together to form rows, pressing the seams away from the Fabric E squares. Sew the rows together to form the block, pressing the seams to one side. Repeat to make four corner blocks.

Step 9: Sew a completed corner block from Step 8 to opposite ends of a top pieced border from Step 6, pressing the seams toward the pieced border. Repeat with the bottom pieced border.

Step 10: Sew a side pieced border from Step 5 to the left and right edges of the quilt center, pressing the seams toward the pieced border.

Step 11: Sew the top pieced border from Step 9 to the top of the quilt center, pressing the seams toward the quilt center. Repeat with the bottom pieced border.

Step 12: Measure the length of the quilt through the center. Cut two Fabric H side border strips to this length. Sew the borders to the sides of the quilt center. Press toward the border. Measure the width of the quilt through the center. Cut two Fabric H top/bottom border strips to this width. Sew the borders to the top and bottom of the quilt center. Press toward the border.

Your quilt top is complete! Baste, quilt, bind and enjoy!
