We know that grapes come in a variety of flavours, very much like our mangoes and wines are generally named after the grape they are made from.

White:

Chardonnay Pinot Grigio Riesling Sauvignon Blanc

To taste wine, we must use three of our five senses – sight, smell, taste, sound and touch. Begin by looking at your glass of wine in reasonably good light against a pale background. Give the glass a little swirl and stick your nose in to take sniff. Swirling opens up the wine and allows for the collision of molecules so you may better appreciate the aromas. The more you swirl, the more you open-up the aromas.

Go-ahead, take that first sip! Your nose would have prepared your mouth for what you are about to taste. Savour the flavours rolling the wine gently around your mouth so that it reaches every taste-bud.

Here are some common descriptions used:

Acidity - Perceived as tartness, imparted by natural acids in wine. Desirable for balance with sweetness.
