It’s 10 In Kino Without looking at your watch, can you tell me what time it is? It’s time to head to Kino Bay! Because it’s 10 in Kino.

No, we are not referring to daylight savings. The time in Kino Bay and the entire state of Sonora and Arizona never changes.

However, it’s 10 in Kino: 10 activities and attractions you must visit. From one of the best views of Kino to Tiburón Island and an

encounter with the Seri tribe. IT’s 10 IN KINO:

1. Cerro Prieto: a short easy hike and a spectacular view.

2. Bicycle: cross the desert mountains of Kino Bay

3. Boat ride: to explore the surrounding islands and enjoy the fishing possibilities.

4. Tiburón Island: with an area of 1.208 square kilometers, is the largest island in the country.

5. Seri Tribe: museum, Punta Chueca, Desemboque, New Year

6. Scuba Diving and Snorkeling: discover the treasures of the "Aquarium of the World"

7. Tour of the Bay: tour the most beautiful spots on board the “Igüibus” (e-gwi-boose)

8. Fishing: throughout the year and international tournaments in the fall and spring

9. Water sports: Kayak, catamaran, boating, banana boat, swimming

10. Gastronomic Route: indulge yourself with the freshest oyster, marlin, clams, scallops, etc.

** Each of these attractions will be discussed in our next editions. Along with anual events and sports competitions. **

On Thursday July 24 at 6:00 pm, while several people enjoyed the atmosphere of the bar at the top,

inside the restaurant at Casablanca Inn Hotel & Restaurant Bar, the Organizing Committee of the In-

ternational Corvina Fishing Tournament discussed point of views and shared ideas with the common

goal of making the 2011 tournament a success.

Sipping a delicious iced tea and coffee with the Casablanca Inn taste, the committee reached several

agreements. Undoubtedly the most significant one is that this year only 1 (one) corvina per day will

be accepted for judging purposes. The prize will go to the (one) largest corvina. As you may well

remember, in the 2010 tournament, the rules specified that 2 (two) corvinas were accepted. This is

the major change to the rules.

Other modifications to the tournament rules are being analyzed and will soon appear on our

official website: www.bahidekino.com.mx in English and Spanish

In February 2001, several golfers got together in hopes of getting a place to install a golf course. After

seeing several sites, they had finally found the property that is now known as the Kino Bay Desert Golf

Course.

At a meeting with Mr. Fausto Garcia, the interested golfers talked about the possibility of a commodatum

from the Sonora state government. In February 2002, the state issued the commodatum.

Once the paperwork was in order, the golfers rented machinery and construction began. 10 days later,

they were able to play the first golf tournament on March 15, 2002. Since then improvements to the golf

course have not stopped.

The Kino Bay Desert Golf Course holds about 5 tournaments a year and Kino Bay’s Club Deportivo holds

four a year. Women's League plays every Saturday morning during the winter and couples league play

every other Wednesday. This year the Ladies Club Ladies Club Kino organize a benefit tournament for the

children in Old Kino. Get your clubs ready!

Membership costs (in pesos):

1 Day: $60 MXN

1 Week: $200 MXN

1 Month: $520 MXN

On October 22, 1977, Roy and Mary Francis Morwood, along with 23 other people voted to organize a

club to ensure navigation safety and general assistance to athletes..

Each of them contributed $500 pesos to establishing a small working fund. The first Board consisted of Tom

Turner, Tom Crutchfield, Keelor Oliver, Scott Llewelyn, and as alternates, Alain Ferrari. The first officers

were:

President: Eldon Heaton

Vice-President: Fausto Garcia

Secretaries: Bob Jarratt and Polly Boyle

Treasurer: Roy Morwood

Tom Turner was named chairman of the bailout program, which soon received the name "Rescue One".

One of the founders, who was very helpful in implementing the organization of the club was Santiago Gar-

cía de la Garza, then member of the Department of Tourism and owner of the Posada del Mar Hotel. The now

familiar logo was designed by Raul Gutierrez, a young man working at the Hotel.

The club continues to operate as a Mexican non-profit organization and as such is subject to existing laws

and regulations of the Mexican Government. In addition to organizing golf tournaments and member activi-

ties, the club provides support at events like the International Fishing Tournament croaker as well as many

other works in the community.

Kino Bay Club Deportivo is an exclusive club for members only. However, membership is open to all. .

El Despertar de una Riviera, A.C. and the Kino Bay Tourism Office greatly

appreciate the support the club provides us at events and other projects.
