The event will be held at Ade- laide’s Eagle Park Mountain Bike Complex with several junior riders going along to learn from other riders. CARR vice-president Ben Gooley said: ‘‘We’ve got about 16 people going as part of our group, but there may be a few members that are going separately. ‘‘Last year we didn’t have a big junior contingent like we have this year, as a lot of juniors are heading down to get some experience, and it will be an eye-opener to see how the fast guys run. ‘‘JP (CARR president John Pyper) has instructed the kids to bring their camera along to take photos, especially when the fast elite guys are going around the track. ‘‘He wants to see how they tackle different obstacles and learn as much as they can. ‘‘The Merida team down there are also going to help out by teaching the young guys skills and having a bit of time out with them.’’ A lot of preparation has gone into next week’s tournament and Gooley praised the younger riders for their efforts in the lead-up to the event. He said: ‘‘JP has had us doing Anzac Hill sprints and getting us feeling a little bit sick in the mornings and regretting having had breakfast, but the kids have been going nuts after doing some of them. ‘‘Having the national champion- ships to work towards has given them motivation to go out riding every weekend and work towards the event.’’ Gooley believes that the group will be extremely competitive dur- ing the event. He said: ‘‘The good thing about the nationals is that it attracts all sorts of riders that have ridden from a couple of months to 50 years and there are categories for everyone so it’s not so much that everyone is going to go down there and get flogged by a whole heap of elite riders. ‘‘If you race in your category, there will be a lot of riders to race against with different abilities, which will keep everyone inter- ested.’’ Alice Springs will host the NT Titles on the Easter weekend, an event Gooley hopes the commun- ity will support. He said: ‘‘We’ve already got a couple of sponsors on board as well as a few more possible sponsors. ‘‘The NT Titles on the Easter weekend will have races from a 4-hour enduro down to a 40-second Anzac Hill sprint that we hope we can get the community involved in and cheer everyone on.’’ The Central Australian Rough Riders thank everyone for their support. Crushing victory BASKETBALL Dale Fletcher FEDERAL Wallabies Storm continued their impressive Alice Springs Basketball Association League Men form with a re- sounding 37-point win against Memo Magic at the Traeger Park Basketball Stadium on Tuesday night. The current league leaders dominated from the opening tip and swished five con- secutive three- pointers to enjoy a double-digit lead from quarter time, to run out 71-34 winners. Chris Atkinson led the way for Federal with 19 points, while Jason Wilmot added 15 points. Rockets won a high- scoring affair against Nyewente 88-72. Nyewente’s Michael Sevallos was on fire and scored a game- high 32 points. Rockets enjoyed a comfortable lead throughout the match after trailing by three points at the first change. Junior Saena was on target for Rockets, scoring 29 points. In League Women, Michelle Ellis scored a game-high 18 points and again guided Fed- eral Wallabies Storm to a 45-31 success against Memo Mus- tangs. The Mustangs could score only two points in the final quarter as Federal Wallabies Storm suf- focated the Memo at- tack. Rockets Farno again showed they are a threat to take out the League Women championship, with great contributions from Lauren Parai (16 points) and Ginnae Soloman (14 points), were simply too good for Memo Jets, claim- ing the honours by 39 points. Warriors’ win aim RUGBY UNION Warren Thomson Devils’ Mark Newman wins a line out during the last Warriors-Devils clash KIWI Warriors will be out to further enhance their finals chances when they take on Fed- eral Devils on Saturday night at Anzac Oval. Warriors have been in good form for the last three weeks and were rewarded with their first win of the season, a 35-33 win over Cubs, that has kept their fin- als chances alive. They are now only two wins behind Cubs and an upset win against Federal Devils, who have a two-win ad- vantage at the top of the ladder, will give them a massive oppor- tunity to topple Cubs off third spot during the last three games of the season. But a win will be a massive challenge, with Devils coming into this game with six consecu- tive wins. Devils coach Tim Blacker said: ‘‘I couldn’t be happier with the way we are playing. ‘‘Our game against Cubs was clinical and we played very well. Last week against Eagles, they certainly gave it to us but we managed to pull through. ‘‘Last time we played Warriors, they held us out for 50 minutes and have played well since, and defeated Cubs last week. ‘‘Warriors have always been a talented side and their training has come through at the right end of the season.’’ One percenters will be the focus in tomor- row night’s game as they try to get every- thing running smoothly into the finals. Blacker said: ‘‘Our fo- cus this week is getting the little things right. ‘‘Rugby is a game of inches and this week- end will we need to take inches instead of giving them. ‘‘The team is looking good at the moment. We missed training on Tuesday night as there were wives and girlfriends to attend to, but we put in double the effort at last night’s training.’’ Devils will be looking forward to a good de- fensive test as Warriors will be hungry to hang on to possession to limit Devils’ offence. Warriors coach James Nolan said: ‘‘Our focus is always on controlling the ball and maintaining possess- ion. ‘‘Devils have backs who are devastating runners but it will hard for them to have an impact if we have the ball and they don’t.’’ Warriors captain Zach Mather will no longer take part in this season and the team line-up won’t be con- firmed until tomorrow, but Nolan says the team is keeping up-beat due to some great games in the past few weeks. He said: ‘‘It’s nice to see the game finally come together and hopefully we can get some more wins.’’
