    BIOGRAPHY

    Kai-Oi Joyce Yung graduated from University of Dundee, BA (Hons) Fine Art, 2006(1:1). Prior, Yung studied BA (hons) French Language and Literature at SheffieldUniversity (2:1, 1999) working at Ketchum public relations, London, for clients from

    Sony, Microsoft to Warner Brothers.

    Selected exhibitions include: Shadow Dance, the Bluecoat,Amongst Dark Trees, AClearing, Grundy Art Gallery, Interval; A Narrative Psychosis, Cornerhouse soloexhibition, Image Wars,Abrons Arts Centre, New York City,1911-2011, JCCAC,

    Hong Kong, Sock Exchange, FACT, Far West, Arnolfini, Nightcomers, IstanbulBiennial, Kopas Experimental Arts Festival, Seoul,Art Bin, South London Gallery,Paradise Stories, funded by European Capital of Culture & RIBA and The WormholeSaloon, Whitechapel Gallery, London. Residencies include: Tarot de Marseille, La

Liveperformances include Gestalt, Calvert 22, Military Craft I & II, Guangzhou Live andGolden Thread Gallery, Belfast, The System Is Done, Lets Start Again, HKJCAC and

    Follow Me, West Kowloon Cultural District, Hong Kong and Getting To Know You,National Theatre, London andAltered States, Performance Space, London.

    Gallery education is key to Yungs participatory approach, she has devised,facilitated and led diverse workshops projects including Genus Puzzle Project,National History Museum and Southbank Centre, London, Zaha Hadid Architects,Manchester International Festival and Contemporary Chinese Art and Globalisation,Cornerhouse, and Treasures, Tate Liverpool and collaboration with Artur Zmijewski,

    Following Bauhaus,A Foundation. Her mini residency Inhabitable Spaces at SouthLondon Gallery investigated how we relate to each other. Awards include:

    Professional Artist Development, Chinese Arts Centre has also invited her toundertake a residency and exhibition. Yung was selected Top 50 inGuardian/Courvoisier Future 500 awardsand is invited as part of British CouncilsNational Charter TN2020 and Axis Choice Artist by its curatorial team. Paneldiscussion and talks include Mediamatic, Amsterdam, Living Between The Lines,Tate and Interlace, Nottingham Art Gallery. She is a critical writer for publicationssuch as A-N and freelance artist assessor for ACE. Coverage includes The

    Guardian, Art Monthly, BBC, Sky Culture, South China Morning Post, A-Ns FutureForecastand European Magazine. Lecturing includes Hong Kong Art School, Lincoln

    University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, City University, Hong Kong and

    Liverpool John Moores. Art fairs include Scope, New York & Miami and collectionsinclude Asia Art Archive and Vivienne Westwood. Forthcoming includes ACE fundedresearch to Brazil and Belize. Yung was commissioned as consultant for mobile techplatform, Artspotter and helped to restructure their curatorial and artistic content

    direction.
