Kakao Friends launches the Smart Scale at

Paris Design Week

-Kakao IX participates at Maison & Objet to launch the first product in Home Kit series

[August 2019] Kakao IX, the retail branch of Kakao Corp. will launch the Smart Scale at the world’s

largest interior design trade show, Maison & Objet. The representative in Europe announced that

this is the first time Kakao is participating and the product will be exhibited within the Smart Gift

category.

Kakao Friends Home Kit

The cloud-inspired Smart Scale records and tracks users' weight changes. With its uniquely

warm texture, you can imagine walking on the clouds and enjoy managing your weight with a

series of friendly feedback animations on the app.

Kakao Friends Homekit, the very first collaborative project with the award-winning design

studio, Nendo, led by Oki Sato, showcases contemporary smart home appliances with a

companion app that are inspired by various pleasant imaginations and Kakao Friends

characters. These simple yet memorable objects consist of seven products: body scale,

humidifier, air purifier, thermometer, alarm, table lamp, and sensor. Throughout the series, the

Homekit demonstrates a continuous aesthetic theme, which contributes to the unique

experience that Kakao aims to achieve.

As September approaches, the city of Paris will turn to the world’s major design hub. From

September 5th to 14th, the French capital will host Paris Design Week, inaugurating and

accompanying the Maison & Objet trade fair. The ninth edition will boast the abundance of new

additions guaranteed to delight fans of lifestyle, arts and crafts and design.

Maison & Objet is a biannual fair and a hub for interior designers and lifestyle professionals since

1995. It is the ultimate platform to discover new brands and new collections from some of the

world’s most sought-after designers. Smart Gift is a sector that is built for new creative ideas and

unique bespoke gifts. Other brands within the category include Pylones, Legami, Native Union,

Christian Lacroix Galison.
