It is great to see all our stu-

dents after the long break.

During the first week of each

term, students will discuss

what they did during their

holidays and set up goals

they would like to achieve

during the next term. This

week YK-K class revised

writing their own names,

useful words and expres-

sions, to prepare for work in

Term 2. During the long

break many kindergarten

students visited somewhere

special. Students drew pic-

tures and talked about their

exciting time away during

these holidays. Firstly, they

drew pictures of the places

they visited, what they saw,

or what they ate. After draw-

ing their pictures, students

recounted basic sentences

such as “I went ~”~いきま

した or other basic words

such as animal names or

family names, to the class.

Students who have previous

Japanese knowledge talked

about their stories and

traced hiragana sentences

with the teacher’s assistance.

Other students who have a

stronger background in Jap-

anese talked about their sto-

ries further and wrote in

their journals, which were

presented to the class. This

term, kindergarten students

will start learning Hiragana.
