1. The International Competition of Applied Mathematics KANGAROO
• The tests are grouped by grades: I, II, III, IV, V-VI, VII-VIII, IX-X, XI-XII • For the V-VIII grades, 40 questions are proposed so that the competitors can choose maximum 30, based on preferences and level of difficulty
• For the VII-VIII grades, 10 out of these 40 problems are applications of mathematics in sciences (physics, chemistry, biology) • For the IX-XII grades, 20 out of 50 problems are applications of mathematics in informatics)
If the pupil has wrongly filled in the circle with the incorrect answer and he wants to change it, then he can fill in the other circles corresponding to the wrong answers and in this way the circle left blank will indicate the correct answer
The pupil has the possibility to increase his score if he is sure of the answer. If he fills in the little circle from the column entitled ‘Sure’ and the answer is correct, then he will receive an additional point (for instance, 6 instead of 5) but if the answer is wrong then he will lose 2 points (for instance, -3.25 instead of –1.25).
