Graphene Oxide Graphene oxide (GO) is a single monomolecular layer of graphite with various oxygen

containing functionalities such as epoxide, carbonyl, carboxyl and hydroxyl groups. GO is one of

the possible synthetic precursor of Graphene. It has potential application in catalysis, biotechnology and biomedical engineering.

Reduced Graphene Oxide Reduced graphene oxide (rGO) has similar structure as graphene but contains residual oxygen

and other heteroatoms as well as structural defects. Since rGO can be made as a thin film from

an aqueous dispersion of GO in water and has moderate conductivity, it is attractive for use in

electronic devices. In addition to being components in electronic devices, rGO is widely used for

nanocomposite materials, polymer composite materials, energy storage, biomedical applications

and catalysis.

Silica Nanoparticles Silica nanoparticles (Silicon dioxide) are nanosized spheres which appears as white colour

powder. Due to their stability, low toxicity and ability to be functionalized with a range of

molecules and polymers, these nanoparticles are widely used in biomedical research. Further,

monodispersed silica nanoparticles self-assemble to form photonic crystals which exhibits

interesting optical properties.

Silver Nanoparticles Silver nanoparticles have unique optical, electrical, and thermal properties. They have wide

applications in biomedical area as an antibacterial/antifungal/anti-viral/anti-inflammatory agent,.

Besides this, Silver nanoparticles are used as a plasmonic material and optical antenna in

photovoltaics and a potential candidate for synthesis of conductive composites.

TiO2 Nanoparticles TiO2 (Titanium dioxide) is one of the largely explored photocatalytic nanomaterials due to its

high nontoxicity and incredible stability. Being a UV resistant material, TiO2 nanoparticles are

used in paint and cosmetics industries. Furthermore, TiO2 has vast application in photvoltaics

and solar photon assisted water splitting.

OPAL Synthesis of Silica Nanoparticles Silica nanoparticle when organized in a particular repetitive ordered structure, show a particular optical property called diffraction. This diffraction results in different color light reflected from the surface, which is a function of Particle Size. This property best deals with Silica nanoparticles due to its highly mono dispersed nanoparticles.

Solar Cell Fabrication Solar Cell being one of the most promising devices to harvest solar energy, has been a key research area in energy sector. Today nanotechnology plays an important role in enhancing the performance of solar cell. Dye Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC) is one of the breakthrough in this field which uses nanotechnology to bring a cheap, highly efficient and easy to fabricate solar cell in real world. Here we fabricate fully functioning DSSC with TiO2 nanoparticles.

Electrochemical Synthesis of rGO Though Graphene is one of the highly explored materials and having its extraordinary application, its synthesis has not been that much easy. Here we synthesize rGO electrochemically. This is also called ECRGO (Elecrochemically Reduced Graphene Oxide). It is the fastest synthesis of graphene.

Conductivity Test of rGO One of the most important property of rGO is its conductivity. Its conductivity enhancement depends on the degree of reduction of Graphene oxide. With this experiment we analyze the conductivity of reduced Grapheen Oxide and compare it with conductivity of Graphene Oxide.

TiO2 Nanoparticles as Photocatalyst

Water splitting hydrogen generation is one of the key research topics in the field of hydrogen generation. TiO2 has been accepted as one of the widely explored semiconductor materials for these photocatalytic applications. Here we use TiO2 (Anatase) to understand its photocatalytic activity in solar water splitting / hydrogen generation.
