Telehealth is an innovative and feasible option to provide specialty care in rural hospitals. This session will review technolog y, processes and outcomes for acute telenephrolog y consults for patients who are admitted in rural hospitals, describe Telenephrolog y services including 24 hour nephrolog y physician coverage and in-patient dialysis services through e–Dialysis and discuss outcomes for both ESRD and non-ESRD patient care in rural hospitals via telemedicine including mortality rates and length of hospital stay.

times, it gets frustrating to initiate many patients on therapy only to be matched by the patients who leave PD. This high turnover in PD programs creates a high “churn” rate that creates a challenge for both patients and their healthcare providers. This education day will focus on teaching participants strategies to “turn down the churn” so PD programs can grow and patients are treated successfully with PD for longer periods of time.
