Open-Source healthcare technology solutionsWith distribution in over 15 countries, Kanteron Systems is a world leader in open-source healthcare technology solutions (PACS, multimodal diagnostic workstations,

HIS, RIS, HDI, EMR, Augmented Reality for surgery, etc).

Satisfaction at ISSSTE in Mexico (which provides health care to more than 10 million Mexican citizens) with Kanteron Systems solutions is such that a year after being installed in the National Medical Center "20 de Noviembre", they have already asked for 57 additional viewing stations and three more diagnostic KDS (request pending).

Initial ly a 6-server PACS with redundancy and 70TB of storage was installed. Additionally a Long Term storage system based on optical disc with a capacity of 27TB was also installed, fully accessible from these diagnostic workstations, which allows the conservation of all studies conducted over a period of at least 5 years, in compliance with Mexican Health regulations.

More than 300 light viewers were installed on all outpatient medical personnel PCs around the CMN “20 de Noviembre”.

The FIRST Blue Room in Latin America was projected and built to house all diagnostic units, a solution that was replicated in three other hospitals.

For visualization of medical images, 9 KDS diagnostic workstation and 23 review workstations were installed (kiosk, mobile or embedded).

In addition, the system originally installed only at the CMN 20 de Noviembre in Mexico City, has been acquired by the ISSSTE and installed in 3 additional High Specialty hospitals: Hospital "Bicentennial of Independence" in Tultit lan, Edo. Mex., Hospital "Centennial of the Revolution" in Emiliano Zapata, Edo. of Morelos, and Hospital de Morelia in Morelia, Edo. Michoacan.

As for the savings that these systems have accounted for these four hospitals we can list a few:• Savings on fi lms, which enabled

the CMN a full ROI in just 2 years.

• Increased productivity in more relaxed shifts.

• The most important thing is that allows much more accurate diagnoses allowing even to transform invasive into minimally invasive surgical interventions.

• Stop printing $100 f i lms - and now burn CD/DVD which cost 0.15 $

At CMN “20 de Noviembre” Kanteron Systems’ PACS, 42 modalities of all kinds have been integrated to date (several mammography, angiograms, monoplane and biplane digital XRays, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, two MRI 1.5 and 3 Tesla, two CT, CR, hemodynamics, nuclear medicine,

endoscopies, etc). All from different brands.

As soon as the migration to the new data network is finished, wil l culminate the integration of all other remaining modalities available at the CMN (approx. 40 more) to Kanteron Systems’ PACS.

In this successful instal lat ion, Kanteron Systems was fortunate to have the help of Mexican distr ibutors Ceurac SA de CV.

“It is quite an honor for Ceurac to have participated in this effort bringing Centro Médico Nacional “20 de Noviembre” leading-edge technology that al lows them to offer better care and continue their dedication to Mexico’s healthcare.”
