The NDMVPS's K.B.T. College of Engineering, Nashik has been serving the society
of Savitribai Phule Pune University in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering,
ME Mechanical (Design Engineering) and ME Civil (Construction Management).
The purpose of this Newsletter is to provide information to the student-staff fraternity of
Nashik and society at large of the news, including relevant announcements and updates that we
believe are important to them. However, this newsletter is also a valuable tool for bolstering
morale, promoting unity, team spirit, motivating and rewarding achievements of KBT COE,
available on the college website: www.kbtcoe.org

Department of Information Technology
▪ Workshop on “Basics of Python” by
FOSSEE IIT Bombay(19/07/2018)
Department of Information Technology in
collaboration with FOSSEE IIT Bombay
organized a three days’ workshop on “Basics
of Python” during 19th July 2018 to 21st July
2018 for final year students. Prof. Prabhu
Ramachandran (IIT Bombay) guided students
through online videos. The participants got in-
depth knowledge and hands on practice on
Python. During the sessions various online
quizzes and practice sessions were also
conducted by FOSSEE.

▪ Workshop on “Cyber Security” by
Mr. Bhushan Kavishwar(07/07/2018)
Department of IT Engineering organized a
01-Day workshop on “Cyber Security” on 7th
July 2018. Mr. Bhushan Kavishwar (Network
Security Expert) was invited as resource person
for this workshop. He guided the students on
need of Cyber Security, types of Cyber-attacks
and ways to prevent them. The students of
second and third year took the benefit of the
session.

▪ Workshop on “Career Guidance” by
Mr. Suraj & Akshay (04/07/2018)
Department of IT Engineering organized a
workshop on “Career Guidance” for the
students of SE, TE and BE on 4th July 2018.

(Mozilla Ambassador) were invited as resource
person for this workshop. They guided students
on importance of skill development,
expectations of IT industry and selection of
project topics through interactive sessions.

▪ Seminar on Red Hat by Red-Hat
academy, IRT (05/07/2018)
Department Information Technology
started a new Red-Hat Academy Lab in
September 2017. Under this academy various
courses were conducted for students during last
year. 19 students from IT department were
certified under this course. Hence in this year
Red-Hat academy organized an introductory
session on Red-Hat certification on 5th July
2018. Ms. Amreen Gayas (CEO, Red Hat
Academy) and Mr. Aditya Bagul (Technical
Director, Red-Hat Academy) were the resource
person for this seminar. They guided the
students on Red-Hat, its certification and utility
in IT industry. TE and BE-IT students took the
benefit of this seminar.
▪ Training on "Project Based Learning"
by Ms. R. R. Tajanpure (07/07/2018)
The Department of IT Engineering
organized a training session on “Project Based
Learning” on 7th July 2018. Ms. R. R.
Tajanpure (Assistant Professor) was the
resource person for this session. She briefly
explained different learning styles, Bloom’s
Taxonomy and need of PBL. The faculty
members of IT and E&TC department took the
benefit of the training session.

▪ Workshop on “Basics of Python” by
FOSSEE IIT Bombay(12/07/2018)
Department of Electronics &
Telecommunication Engineering in
collaboration with FOSSEE IIT Bombay
organized a three days’ workshop on “Basics of
Python” during 12th July to 14th July 2018 for
the students. Prof. Prabhu Ramachandran (IIT
Bombay) guided students through online
videos. The participants got in-depth
knowledge and hands on practice on Python.

practice sessions were also conducted.

initiated a 45 days’ workshop on “Industrial
Internet of Things (IIOT)” in association with
Raspi Invents Private Limited Nashik from 4th

▪ Workshop on “Project to Product and
Entrepreneurship” by Ms. Premlata
Mishra (11/07/2018)
Computer Engineering Department
organized a workshop on “Project to Product
and Entrepreneurship” for the students of final
year. Ms. Premlata Mishra (Advent Engineers
Pvt. Ltd.) guided the students to be a successful
entrepreneur. During the session, project ideas
were presented by students through a group
activity. Ms. Harshada Gite specified the
technical skills required for the development of
project ideas in to tangible product.

▪ IoT Workshop (13/07/2018)
Computer Engineering Department
organized a workshop on Internet of Things
(IoT) for the third year and final year students.
The sessions were conducted by Mr. Shekhar
Borse (Raspi Invent). The workshop included
hands on sessions. He demonstrated the
interfacing of various sensors and Raspberry Pi
and explained “ThingSpeak” which is an open
source Internet of Things (IoT) application,
API to store and retrieve data from things using
the HTTP protocol over the Internet or via a
Local Area Network.

▪ Training for Technical Staff (22nd to 28th
July 2018)
Mr. Amol B. Sabale (ANA, Computer
Engineering) conducted CCNA training for the
technical staff of Information Technology and
Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering
departments. The training included the Cisco
switch configuration, Cisco router
configuration, Cyberoam firewall 300iNG
configuration. He also demonstrated the
configuration of D-link Wi-Fi access point
during the training.

▪ Training for Technical Staff (7th&14th
July 2018)
Department of Computer Engineering
organized a Computer training program for the
technical staff of the college. The training
sessions were conducted by Mr. V.S. Jadhav
and Mr. A. B. Sabale. Mr. Jadhav explained
computer hardware, printer, projector, scanner
and Mr. A. B. Sabale explained installation of
operating system, antivirus and networking.
The training also included the demonstration of
the explained concepts.

▪ Seminar on “Career Opportunities for
Mechanical Engineers” by Mr. Sampat
Chate (24/07/2018)
A seminar on “Career Opportunities for
Mechanical Engineers” was organized by
Department of Mechanical Engineering for
third year students for which Mr. Sampat Chate
(Assistant Director, District Skill Development
Center, Nashik) was invited as an expert
speaker on 24th July 2018.

Mechanical Engineers in government sectors.
He also guided the students regarding the
preparation of various exams like GATE, GRE,
TOEFL, IELTS etc.

(16/07/2018)
Department of Mechanical Engineering has
organized a seminar on ‘IPR’ on 16th July
2018. Mr. Sagar Pol from Indian Patent Office,
Mumbai was invited as an expert for the
session. Mr. Sagar covered topics such as
importance of Patent, Patent drafting, Patent
filing process and Patent examination
process in this seminar.

3. Industrial Visits
▪ Digital Impact Square (18/07/2018)
Staff of the institute during the visit
As a part of Industry – Institute Interaction
activities, the institute organized a faculty

member visit to TCS’s Digital Impact Square
on 18th July 2018. Mr. Sandeep (Project Head,
DISQ) discussed the plan and activities to be
carried out in this academic year under this
collaboration. On this visit, faculty members
were given an opportunity to observe and
discuss the ongoing DISQ project with the
respective developers.

Department of Civil Engineering organized
an industrial visit at Wastewater Treatment
Plant, Tapovan, Nashik for the students of final
year on 13th July 2018.Mr. Matale guided the
students on process and working of the plant.

▪ Concrete Pavement Construction site
(13/07/2018)
Department of Civil Engineering organized
an industrial visit at Concrete Pavement
Construction Site on 13th July 2018.The site
visit was conducted to show the construction
stages of permanent road pavement. During
visit, the students observed special features of
smart road such as underground ducts for
passage of utilities. Smart pavement, digit
signals, solar powered street lamps etc. among
other things.

Talekar (09/07/2018)
Mr. S. A. Talekar (Assistant Professor,
Computer Engineering) delivered an expert talk

on Artificial Intelligence to the final year
students of Electronics and Telecommunication
engineering on 9th July 2018. In this lecture he
explained detailed AI applications with the help
of practical examples.

▪ Stress Management (06/07/2018)
Department of Electronics &
Telecommunication Engineering organized an
expert talk on Stress Management on 6th July
2018. Dr. Mukesh Daund, Dr. Sunita Samant
and Dr. Chinmay Palsodkar were invited as the
resource persons. They explained the
techniques of handling stress and emotions
through various games and activities. Students
of BE-E&TC took the benefit of the session.

▪ “Aptitude Test Session”(14/07/2018)
Department of Instrumentation & Control
engineering organized a session on “Aptitude
Test Preparation” for various exams on 14th
July 2018 for third and final year students. Mr.
Kiran Derle (Target Campus, Nashik) was
invited as an expert for the session. He
demonstrated various tricks for solving the
aptitude questions.

“Problem solving & Critical thinking” on
14thJuly 2018 on the occasion of World Youth

Skill day. Mr. Avinash Mahajan (Director,
Vividha Biotech, Sinnar Nashik) was invited as
an expert. He focused on Microcontroller,
programming applications, measurement of
PH, dryness, wetness, problem solving skill,
critical thinking etc.
▪ Internet of Things (IOT) by Mr. Shekhar
Borse (03/07/2018)
Mr. Shekhar Borse (Director and Founder,
Raspi Invents, Nashik) conducted an expert
session on “Internet of Things” (IOT) and its
future scope on 3rd July 2018 for the students of
Instrumentation & Control Engineering. He
focused on key role the Instrumentation &
Control engineer’s plays in sensor technology
& application of embedded system design. He
also explored the applications of IOT in various
sector like Agriculture, Biomedical,
Pharmaceutical, Robotics manufacturing etc.

▪ “Civil Engineering Software” by
Mr. Garvit Devide (26/07/2018)
Mr. Garvit Devide (Civil Engineering
Software Academy, Pune) delivered an expert
talk on Civil Engineering Software used in
practice on 26th July 2018. He is a practicing
RCC consultant and has nine years of
experience in structural engineering. He
focused on stadd pro, e-tabs and AutoCAD
software which are being used most commonly.

▪ “Road Safety and Traffic rules” by
Mr. Sandeep Nimse (21/07/2018)
Department of Computer Engineering
organized a session on “Road Safety and
Traffic rules” for the students of second year on
21st July 2018. Mr. Sandeep Nimse, (Inspector,
RTO-Nashik) guided the students on road
safety techniques and the traffic rules. He also
emphasized the importance of use of helmets
for safety.

(13/07/2018)
Department of Computer Engineering
organized a session on the occasion of Skill
development day for the final year students.
The session was conducted by Mr. Sunil Joshi
(Technical Head, V3 Solutions). He explained
various skills and latest technical platforms
used for project development. He also
emphasized on importance of soft skills
essential while working in team on a project.

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell,
Department of Electronics &
Telecommunication Engineering in association
with Udyogwardhini organized a three days
“Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp” from 19th
to 21st July 2018. The experts from various
fields and entrepreneurs were invited to
enlighten the audience with their knowledge on

▪ Paper Bag Making Workshop by Mrs.
ShubhangiBairagi (10/07/2018)
Mrs. Shubhangi Bairagi and students during the

Paper bags serve as an environment
friendly alternative to the plastic bags and
owing to the decision of banning plastic bags,
the ED Cell of the institute in collaboration
with Department of MBA organized a Paper
Bag Making workshop on 10th July 2018. Ms.
Shubhangi Bairagi was invited to demonstrate
the process of paper bag making. The ED Cell
coordinators and the students of the institute
took the benefit of the session.

▪ Guidance session on GATE Entrance
Exam 2018-19
Department of information technology has
started “GATE Study Center” for students
under the guidance of Dr. V. R. Sonawane
(HoD). Under this center, IT department
organized a guidance session on GATE
entrance exam 2019 on 25th July 2018. It was
conducted by Dr. V. R. Sonawane (HoD). In
this session he gave brief introduction and
importance of GATE exam. He also briefly
explained future plans and activities of this
center.

▪ Visit of Industry Representatives
(27/07/2018)
Dignitaries from Armstrong Machines Pvt.
Ltd., Nashik visited the department on 27th July
2018. Mr. Pranav Majgaonkar (M.D.) along
with his team interacted with Dr. N. S Patil
(Education Officer, MVP Samaj) and other
faculty members. Dr. A. R. Kulkarni (HoD)
gave presentation on various activities of the
department. They visited all the laboratories,
took feedback from students, appreciated the
innovative work done by students and showed
keen interest in working together in future on
various projects.

▪ MoU with V3 Data Solutions
(10/07/2018)
Department of Computer Engineering and
V3 Data Solutions have signed an MOU for the
purpose of strengthening the Industry Institute
Interaction. V3 Data Solutions works for
promotion of FOSS (Free Open Source
Software) in the IT industry. Under this MOU,
the training courses on open source
technologies will be conducted. This MOU will
also benefit the students for industrial projects
and career development in IT sector.

▪ Android Application (28/07/2018)
Application on Android Playstore
Mr. Aditya Marathe, student of TE-IT, has
developed his second application “Zone XII-
JCI India” which is live on play store. Hence to
acknowledge the efforts taken by him and to
motivate all the students of IT department, Dr.
V. R. Sonawane (HoD) felicitated Mr. Aditya
Marathe for his achievement.

▪ Android Application (26/07/2018)
Mr. Suyog Bhambar of third year has
developed an application to control
microcontroller based 4x4 Robot. He has
created a graphical user interface to control the
direction of Robot. He used Android studio: An
app maker software (MIT) to create this
application.

▪ Orientation Program (26/07/2018)
The main objective of Orientation program
is to introduce students to college and
departmental activities and facilities which will
support for their educational and personal
growth. Hence Department of Information

▪ World Youth Skill Day Celebration
(16/07/2018)

Information Technology celebrated World
Youth Skills Day on 16th July 2018. Ms. S. S.

Kaushalya Din on 17th July 2018. Mr. Avinash
Shirode, (former Aerospace Engineer, ISRO)
was invited as chief guest. He emphasized on
the importance of skill development and
entrepreneurship. Dr. K. S. Holkar (Principal),
Dr. M. P. Kadam (HoD), and all civil
engineering faculty and students took the
benefit of the program.

▪ Student Orientation Program

An orientation program was organized for
the students of Computer Engineering
department. Dr. K. S. Holkar (Principal)
addressed the students and guided them on the
importance of projects, trainings, visits and
practical work in the engineering course. He
also emphasized on punctuality and efforts for
acquiring technical skills. Dr. V. S. Pawar
(HoD) and staff of the department gave the
introduction of the program and various
curricular & co-curricular activities during the
academic year.

The main objective of Orientation program
is to introduce students to college and
departmental activities and facilities which will
support for their educational and personal
growth. The induction program for the First
Year Engineering students was organized
during 26th July to 31st July 2018. Various
