Dell Axim X30
• Received 12 Axim X30 pdas in 2004
• Used primarily for data collection activities on outer island field trips.
(8th Grade) Big Island
• Lava toe and vesicle measurements at Pu’u Huluhulu and near eruption site.
– Vesicles signify presence of gas in lava during cooling
– Vesicle shape provides lava viscosity info

• Measurements (length, width, vesicle shape, gps loc., etc…) collected and inputted into pdas
• Data beamed to one pda and saved onto sd card
• Data uploaded onto Internet for further analysis upon returning to school

• Water chemistry testing at Salt Pond Beach Park and Kokee stream in Kauai.
• Other testing sites included Pauoa and Nuuanu streams on Oahu– Data uploaded to UH
database at www.hawaii.edu/environment
