Meeting MinutesWTCA MeetingAugust 11, 2014

Carol & Ken Clowes’ HouseJill Booker called the meet-

ing to order.Randy moved to approve the

July minutes; Lori seconded.Motion passed.OFFICERS REPORTSTREASURER REPORT• Pat G. gave the treasure’s re-

port.•Lori gave the LBC treasurer’s

report and said that weneed to reorder checks. JDmoved to authorize $100for checks. Donna seconded.Motion passed.

TOUR REPORTS•MS-150: More than $230K

was raised for MS. Althoughthere was some road con-struction, which might havehampered registration, therewere 204 riders and it was agreat event. Thanks to Ains-ley & Ken for sagging andhelping get cars to Post fromMidland. WTCA had 8-9 peo-ple riding plus some others.

Next year the route will endin Lubbock, with a layover inLamesa or Seminole.

•Hotter-N-Hell is coming up.•The Quitaque Ride will be to-

ward the last of Septemberor first of October. Last year,it was a one-day ride withcamping optional. Most likelythat will be the plan for 2014.

RACE REPORTS•Most Chaps are doing the

HHH tour, not the race.•Last Wednesday, they started

the cyclocross practice. Thefirst race is on Aug 13

•TTT is on the second Thurs-day, August 14. Be there by6 to be registered to leave by6:30 pm. Starts at HorseshoeCanyon.

•Bobby is assembling anotherChap jersey order. Theyneed to order at least 10.

OLD BUSINESS•Jill spoke about the WTCA

non-profit status. We willneed to have a committee torevise the slate of officers toconform to the new constitu-tion.

•The Officers meeting tookplace to put together a bud-get.

NEW BUSINESS•The Christmas party is on

the 1st Friday of Decem-ber. Carol will check with theMcInturff Center.

•Ian mentioned dogs on theTT rides. Someone crashedlast week after a dog ran infrom of him. There was aconfrontation with the own-ers. Do we have a processin place to mediate? Julie, a

coach for NICA, volunteeredto talk to dog owners. A dan-gerous dog designation ex-ists if a dog actually bitesa person. A repeat offensecalls for filing a complaint.Mike Kelly mentioned that at50th & FM 400, the ownerput up an electric fence tocontain their dogs. Some rid-ers have changed routes toavoid that intersection. DavidNelson said a legal proceed-ing exists to declare a dogdangerous, through which ajudge can order the dog tobe put down. Always call thesheriff if a dog causes acrash or bites a rider. Home-owner’s insurance can coverinjuries incurred by a dog at-tack or provide a settlement.

CLUB RIDES•8:30 am is good for the moder-

ate Saturday ride start time.To help clarify the changingaspects of weekly ride times,Liza will check ride times onwebsite and type them up ina Word document to be re-viewed by Jill, and then sub-mitted to Cait.

•The September meeting is atBill Younts’ home at 5815116th.Pat C, moved to adjourn, Bill

seconded.
