Keeping address points up to date using GIS
• On-line editing made it possible for gmina officers tomodify the location and attributes of address points(city/town, street, address number), as well as tointroduce new points directly in the application.
• Modifications were saved directly on a server, withoutthe need for their repeated introduction by StatisticalOffices, which greatly streamlined and accelerated futureupdating.

Keeping address points up to date using GIS
• The Statistical Offices could also monitor the progress of workcarried out by the employees of Gmina Offices on an ongoingbasis. Changes introduced by gmina offices, following theirverification and approval by Statistical Offices, wereautomatically introduced to a list, which constituted a basisfor further census work.
• Alternatively, changes in the location of address points andintroduction of new points could also have been made onmap printouts, on which a given point was located.
• Statistical Offices were tasked to introduce the amendmentssent by the gminas on printouts. Most gminas, however, chose the on-line way. 2

GIS support for the dispatcher:
• presenting the sampled address points on maps
• displaying the interviewer's on-line position onmaps
• Based on the GIS analysis of a given situation, appropriate decisions regarding enumerators’ relocations in the field could be taken and emergencies could be addressed immediately.
• The enumerators could receive instructions on-line by having them sent to their handheld devices.
• Custom software was developed to manage resources and monitor the course of the census, backed by handheld devices integrated on-line with the entire census management system.

Census data dissemination
The main objectives of the Portal•The spatial presentation of collected data, in particular:•Agricultural Census 2010•Population and Housing Census 2011•Local Data Bank – a huge database withstatistical data for years 2009-2012
•The spatial presentation of the geostatisticalanalysis results
•Completing tasks associated with INSPIREDirective guidelines implementation
Geostatistics Portal

The portal allows statistical data presentation in form of any spatial unit:

• 5’ grid• 1 km2 grid• administrative division• urban division• statistical division• any other polygon

The Global Statistical Geospatial FrameworkGSGF
Why a Statistical Geospatial Framework? The Global Framework provides the international community with a common approach to connecting socio-economic and environmental data to a location, and improves the accessibility and usability of this geospatially-enabled data. Figure below highlights the importance of location information as an integrating tool between the three domains: society, the economy and the environment.

National combined censuses were implemented in compliance with the Generic Statistical
Business Process Model
Lesson learned:The GSBPM model could be suitable for register
based census
The customized GSBPM model is being implemented for current statistical surveys with additional GIS components concerning linkage
of statistical data with spatial data.
