Keeping skincancer in check
No rain and gardens are parchedHI Manning gardenersStill no flipping rain for our
parched gardens. DorotheaMcKellar’s famous words ring sotrue - “I love a sunburnt country ...of droughts and flooding rains ...”
Only all we have is drought, nota drop of rain for over two monthsin our part of the woods.
Rainwater tanks are empty andthe only advice I can give is pray. They say that prayer can movemountains when all we need is anhour or two of good, steady, soaking rain. Remy and I havereduced our water consumption byhalf with the clever use ofcompost, sugar cane and lucernemulches on our garden beds andpots.
We are quite happy to show youhow to get the best results withminimum effort. After all, I grew a
flourishing vegetable garden in themiddle of the Egyptian desert. InQueensland I was using a no diggardening method several yearsbefore Ester Deans published herbook. My very first garden was mymum’s green window box when Iwas just six-years-old.
Now over 80 years later I haveproduced a method of growingplants in pots using less water.
BougainvilleaVisit my place at 8 Bushland
Drive and see Taree’s finestdisplay of beautiful Bougainvillea,a plant that requires little waterand blooms three times a year.
I am now giving Pete’s PlantCorner a rest until our gardens getsome decent rain.
