Four years ago we relocated to our new and larger premises in 71 Victoria Street, and our name change was due to change of ownership, so we can be independent and ensure our ongoing viability. Currently working at the practice is Dr Byron Sadler. He has worked in the practice since its in- ception. Dr Sadler has a wealth of experience and has expertise in the detection and treatment of skin cancer. He has diagnosed more than 302 melanomas and countless basal and squamous cell carcino- mas in this time. Dr Nihal Pathirana joined the clinic in 2012 and works five days a week. He came to Australia with his family from Sri Lanka over five years ago and worked in Coonamble initially. Like Dr Sadler he is fully qualified in skin cancer detection and treatment. He has detected more than 63 melanomas in that short time. We also offer a “full body mapping” service available on a Tuesday with our registered nurse, Pam Sadler. Call the clinic for further details 6550 1733. The clinic also has two fully equipped opera- tion theatres. Melanoma is the most common cancer be- tween the ages of 15-24. There are no limits with in regard to having a full skin check, no referral needed, and we bulk bill pensioners, DVA and healthcare card holders. Appointments are necessary and can be made by phoning 6550 1733. So don’t forget to Slip Slop Slap, and remember to apply sunscreen to all the un-covered areas in- cluding the back of hands, tops of ears, and not forgetting that unmentionable spot on top of the head. Rainwater tanks are empty and the only advice I can give is pray. They say that prayer can move mountains when all we need is an hour or two of good, steady, soaking rain. Remy and I have reduced our water consumption by half with the clever use of compost, sugar cane and lucerne mulches on our garden beds and pots. We are quite happy to show you how to get the best results with minimum effort. After all, I grew a flourishing vegetable garden in the middle of the Egyptian desert. In Queensland I was using a no dig gardening method several years before Ester Deans published her book. My very first garden was my mum’s green window box when I was just six-years-old. Now over 80 years later I have produced a method of growing plants in pots using less water.
