Principal’s Report Swimming Carnival 2019 Due to some issues with availability of the pool next year and as an attempt to try and cash in on the success of the recent swimming program, we have decide to hold our carnival this year on the 12 December – Mrs Mealing will place a full description on the website so families can see what is going to be happening. School Captains 2019 Congratulations to all of the students who participated last week. There was a great roll out from Year 5 with ten boys and eight girls presenting their speeches to a large audience. Good luck to all of the nominees Class Formation and Student Enrolment 2019 Please let us know if you are aware of anyone who wants to enrol their child/children at our school, or if you are thinking of moving away. That will help us finalise our numbers and plan our class placements. If you have any feedback about class placements next year, please contact your child’s teacher and let them know. At this stage we expect to form fourteen classes with the numbers of students that we have or who have presented to enrol in Kindergarten. This is an increase of one class from last year and will see the continuation and expansion of the senior campus – with 3 x 5/6 classes and one class of students in years 4/5. Stage 2 will stay in B Block with a 2/3 class and 2 x 3/4 classes. Stage 1 will have 4 classes in D Block with a K-1 and 3 x 1/2 classes. The Kindergarten area will have 3 x straight Kindergarten classes.
Newsletter We are gradually placing more and more information on the website and using facebook to promote the activities that are happening at the school. We are talking about only producing one newsletter per term which would be sent home each term in Week 9 as a showcase of all of the things the school has been doing. If you have any feedback on this change please contact Mrs Lewis in the office or the P&C.
School Planning The Support Unit playground is finally completed and this has enabled us to focus on a couple of other areas of the school. Mr Hollis and Mr Powick are keeping the grounds looking great. We have decided to revamp the Infants’ park removing some of the older equipment and replacing it. At the same time we will replace the softfall with some certified pine bark, creating a safe and challenging place for the students to play.
A colour LED sign will be installed on the Elbow St fence line, enabling us to promote our wonderful school activities and to let people know what is going on more easily. The feedback from the concert was overwhelmingly positive and we are also looking at a semi-permanent stage that might remain in the playground for lunchtime activities.
Over the summer vacation contractors are building an additional disabled access toilet in the Kinder area adjacent to the existing toilets and replacing a lot of the uneven and broken concrete in the Kinder courtyard. Some of our footpaths will be replaced and updated as part of this process.
Longer term plans will see the disabled ramp access, to the rear of the library replaced by a lift which will also provide access to the top floor of B block. This will see much easier access from the infants to the primary side of the school.
Our school has recently undertaken some training for environmental projects and we are looking at creating a team of students to contribute their energy to the plan. We will start with a waste audit and a new bin system allowing us to separate our rubbish more easily. These students will be selected from each class next year as part of a revamped SRC.

Thank you to parents and staff who supported
the ten day swimming school. Our students have
gained many skills and hopefully they will be able to put these into practice over the holiday period.
What a fantastic day. We got to use all the digital technology toys all day. We worked in small groups and rotated around each of the activities. My favourite was the virtual reality google. It was like we were under water looking at the sea life.
Thanks to all the family members who came to watch us learn and have fun. It was good to see so many parents having a go at the toys too.
