Approximate Weekly Attendance: beginning: 650 present: 1,000 I transitioned with the previous pastor of 23 years. Once elected Lead Pastor, I

immediately hired the previous pastor to oversee Pastoral Care. This was a successful transition allowing minimum disruption in the church. We have been able to turn a large and established church from being missions minded to being missional. Since my election, we have been involved in multiple forms of community service. Our local and foreign engagement has increased, and our foreign missions giving has increased more than 20%. Valley Assembly is among the top missions giving churches in the Northwest Ministry Network and in the General Council of the Assemblies of God. Valley Assembly has been on a steady rate of growth since I became Lead Pastor. Valley has made great strides in adopting a new paradigm without major conflict and with continued growth and health.

Approximate Weekly Attendance: beginning: 60 end: 200 When I began pastoring SCC, the church attendance averaged sixty and the relationships

were extremely dysfunctional. The building was in serious disrepair. During the seven years I pastored SCC, the church experienced reconciliation and healthy community. Following that experience, the church began to thrive relationally, spiritually, numerically, and financially. We performed approximately $250,000 in renovations with no debt, and grew to a weekly attendance of about 200.

January 2011

Dear Reader,

Opportunity. It isn’t often I have the opportunity to brag about Kent Mankins in print. I relish this opportunity to share my experiences and insights concerning Kent!

Kent is first and foremost—a leader. A leader who is able to see the big picture and articulate that preferred future.

Kent is a leader who embraces change—leans into it actually—while ensuring his team and thosewith long term investment in the organization are willingly on-board.

People follow Kent. They trust his leadership. Kent has the intriguing ability to respond with empathy and respect in his interactions with others.Kent listens. I always know I have been heard as I dialogue with Kent. Kent is curious: I sense in him an inquisitiveness for new data—new perspectives—new opportunities. Kent always keeps me on my toes as we dialogue!

I consider Kent Mankins a friend, collaborator, theologian and missional leader. I heartily recommend him to you.

I’d be happy to continue the conversation about Kent with you! Please feel free to contact me via my cell: 360-509-0924.

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing in reference to my good friend and colleague Dr. Kent Mankins.

I have known Kent for the past five years and have found him to be an exceptional thinker, speaker and writer. He is personable, articulate, conscientious, and just fun to be around. Kent has been preparing himself for an academic teaching role for several years now and I am convinced that any institution would benefit from having him on faculty.

I have already invited him to teach in our doctoral program and believe that he would be a good fit your program. Additionally, Kent loves people and would be devoted to interacting with students on a personal and developmental level – that is what he is all about.

I would highly recommend Kent without reservation for any position you think he might qualify.

If I can be of any further service to you, please do not hesitate to contact me at the numbers or email on this letterhead.

Sincerely,

Samuel D. Rima M.Div.; D.Min.; Ph.D. (candidate)

To Whomever this May Concern

Kent Mankins has been part of our doctoral group for the past four years, and last January he was successful in his viva, subject to the inevitable minor amendments, which he is currently undertaking, and will complete shortly. During this period Kent also taught a module on Hermeneutics and Storytelling for our masters students in social and economic transformation.

Kent proved himself to be extremely able, and dedicated, in both his doctoral and his teaching work. He is a gifted communicator and facilitator, and has proved to be very adept in both dealing with the relevant literature, on trans-cultural leadership, and also the methodologies required for his thesis. He in fact also played a facilitative role in our doctoral group, which is something that seemingly comes naturally to him.

On all these counts I can commend him very highly as an academic, a facilitator and a communicator in areas related to culture, organizational behavior and leadership in your academic institution

Regarding: Personal Recommendation for Kent Mankins

To whom it may Concern,

I personally recommend Kent Mankins. I have known Kent for approximately 14 years. I have observed him in social situations as well as in an occasional professional context. He is outgoing, friendly, and genuinely interested in those with whom he comes into contact. Kent exhibits strong leadership skills in these situations.

I have had the opportunity to observe him in the pursuit of his Ph.D. over the past several years. During this time he has worked a full-time job, been a father to two small boys, and a faithful husband to his wife. In my opinion he has successfully balanced his education, career, and family. This speaks of his ability to not only lead others, but to lead himself in discipline, time management, and the placement of priorities. Kent is passionate about the research he conducted while earning his Ph.D. and has a strong desire to positively contribute to society- both locally and internationally.

If I can be of any assistance or answer any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sincerely,

Dr. David Hagelin, DDS12121 E. Broadway Bldg 5, Spokane, WA, 99206(509)926-5031
