!This year was an exciting year for me. My goal for the year was to

push the boundaries of what was possible in the elementary school art room. Since my evaluation last year I have found interesting ways to engage students in traditional and digital media. 5th graders in the normal Elementary school setting have begun incorporating digital media, manufacturing techniques and advanced design concepts into their creative processes. All of this is inspired by teaching and learning in experimental ways after school and over the summer.

During the 2013-2014 school year I expanded our Art and Technology program and named it Project STEAM MD. The goal of Project STEAM MD was to involve students, parents and educators in a program that would empower students with the creative problem solving skills needed to compete as future entrepreneurs and workers of the near future. Also, I needed a means to ov the limitations of time and As the year has progressed the parents, students, community, and staff have collaborated to build an innovative and flexible program that has begun and will continue to enrich STEAM activities at New Town Elementary School. In the 2014 - 2015 school year we have grown to include many partners within the community, along with parents and businesses as well as colleges and universities.

This year I've focused my data for Art Content and Literacy on my Linear Perspective Unit. The students designed a 3D fantasy world on a flat 2D plane. They showed a full understanding and grasped concepts such as one point perspective, size diminution, vanishing point, and orthogonal lines. The data below shows their pre-and post test scores for

Literacy and rubric scores for Content. The Blue represents the students pretest and the Green represents the students post tests. You can see that all the students improved a great deal. We can also see that all of their work show a deep understanding and ownership of the concepts and the skills that Linear Perspective uses. Professional fields such as engineering, architecture, computer science and design use the same skill sets.

!In this lesson I did not reach our Literacy goals. 81% of the students scored 70 - 100 in their post test. The same students who did not reach the Literary goals were able to demonstrate understanding of the concepts in their art work.

In the future I would like to allow the students to collaborate with other classes. I think that it would be exciting to have fifth-grade classes collaborate with other fifth-grade classes, fourth-graders collaborate with other the fourth-graders and so on.

During every lesson the students keep track their progress using rubrics. Depending on the class the rubric may be posted on the board, handed out individually, and/or be the subject of class discussion. Each class processes and student processes the information differently. The students progress and rubric are often tracked on the back of the students paper. Depending on the student and the situation (new, absent, IEP, etc.) the rubric may be adjusted.

I communicate consistently with parents through face to face meetings, emails, social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter). I built a website , blog, and newsletter to help parents keep track of upcoming events such as the Maker Movement, and Destination Imagination that take place outside of the school. I also contact parents through newsletters various activities are students could be involved with before and after school and on weekends, and summer tIme. If a parent has a concern, I like to provide a time for the parent to come in for face to face visits. I often

I began an after school program to explore and push the boundaries of student education in STEAM. The program is a collaboration with students and teachers to prepare students to be inventors and entrepreneurs. I developed a mentoring and job training program that provides high school and middle school students the opportunity to teach elementary school students various skills in science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Throughout the school year I provide support for BCPS teachers and staff mentoring students and providing assistance with behavior management. I consistently provide other teachers with support in classroom management, materials, and positive feedback. I collaborate with current and former teachers at New Town to provide after school and summer enrichment for students.

Domain 4F Showing Professionalism

During the school year I dress appropriately. Since January I've been consistently on time. I help and aide student learning with after school and summer programs. I encouraged and began after school teams for creative and competitive school activities.
