A GAME NOT FOR THE MEEK Sunday’s showdown features 2 of the game’s best defenses. If the meek shall inherit the earth, it will not be the defenses for either the Ravens or Steelers. Pittsburgh enters the contest ranked No. 1, while the Ravens are No. 2. There will be 11 Pro Bowl defend- ers starting, 6 for the Ravens (Pryce, Lewis, Scott, Suggs, Reed and Rolle) and 5 for the Steelers (Smith, Hampton, Farrior, Harrison and Polamalu). Pittsburgh is 1st against the run, allowing 73 yards per game. Baltimore is 3rd (77 ypg). The Steelers are also 1st versus the pass (168.9), but the Ravens aren’t far behind at 2nd (176.4). Ray Lewis described the game perfectly: “Ravens/Steelers? This is a man’s game.” Should be special. SHOWDOWN! That’s what this Sunday’s game between the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers is. These 2 teams fight- ing for the AFC North title will play at M&T Bank Stadium at 4:15 p.m. ET. (The game was originally scheduled for 1 p.m., but was “flexed” to the later start by the NFL so more fans around the coun- try could see this battle.) Both teams are hot right now: The Ravens have won 3 in a row and 7 of their last 8; the Steelers have 4 straight victories and have won 5 of their last 6. The Ravens have beaten the Steelers 5 consecutive games at M&T Bank Stadium, including 2 in overtime (2005 and 2003) and in the 2007 season finale (27-21) after Pittsburgh had already clinched the AFC North. The Ravens, 9-4, stopped the visiting Redskins, 24-10, last Sunday at M&T Bank Stadium. S Ed Reed was once again a dif- ference-maker, stealing 2 INTs and recovering a fumble that he returned 22 yards for a TD. The Steelers, now 10-3 and owning a 1-game lead over Baltimore in the division, came from behind to beat the Cowboys, 20-13, in Pittsburgh last Sunday. In the 1st meeting this season between these 2 rivals, host Pittsburgh stopped the Ravens, 23-20 in overtime, on Monday, 9/29. It was Joe Flacco’s 1st road game, and the rookie respond- ed with a 16-of-31 for 192-yard performance that included a TD pass and no INTs. Baltimore took a 13-3 halftime lead, but the Steelers responded with 2 TDs in 15 seconds in the 3rd quarter. The 1st came when QB Ben Roethlisberger hit WR Santonio Holmes for a 38-yard score. On the next play from scrimmage, Flacco fumbled and OLB LaMarr Woodley scooped the ball and trotted 7 yards for the TD. Flacco led a late 4th-quarter drive (Le’Ron M c Clain 2-yard TD) to tie the game at 20 in regulation. But, Jeff Reed’s 46-yard FG won the game in the extra period. After hosting the Steelers, the Ravens play the following Saturday, 12/20, at the Dallas Cowboys. This will be the last regular season game at Texas Stadium. The Ravens close out 2008 with a home game on 12/28 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. “From the first time we met as a team last April, we have talked about lifting each other to higher levels. It is about team here, and the credit goes to the players. How does the offense help make the defense better? By keeping the ball, not turning it over and scor- ing points. How does the defense help the offense? They do it by getting the ball back for them, by getting three-and-outs, by stop- ping teams from scoring. And special teams? They give us the field position – long fields for the other team’s offense and short fields for us. It all works hand-in-hand, shoulder-to-shoulder, side- by-side, rising together.” G/T David Hale (ankle) and DT Lamar Divens (shoulder) missed the Redskins’ game because of injuries. WR/RS Yamon Figurs (knee), RB Ray Rice (lower leg) and RB Willis M c Gahee (mild con- cussion/shoulder stinger) left last Sunday’s game and did not return. Baltimore leads the NFL with 16 players on Injured Reserve, including Pro Bowl CB Chris McAlister (knee), SS Dawan Landry (shoulder/neck) and NT Kelly Gregg (knee) – all defensive starters. Also gone is DT Dwan Edwards (shoulder/neck), who started 13 games in ’07 for the Ravens. Others on the list include QB Kyle Boller (shoulder), starting RG MarshalYanda (knee), big- play WR Demetrius Willams (ankle) and TE Quinn Sypniewski (knee), who started 9 games a year ago. S Ed Reed was spectacular in the Ravens’ 24-10 win over the Redskins at M&T Bank Stadium last Sunday. Reed stopped Washington’s game-opening drive with an INT and the Ravens’ offense responded with a TD when FB Le’Ron M c Clain ran 8 yards for the score. Later in the 1st quarter, Reed caused a fumble from RB Clinton Portis, picked up the ball and raced 22 yards for anoth- er TD. Baltimore extended its lead to 17-0 in the 3rd quarter on a 32-yard Matt Stover FG. The Redskins closed the gap to 17-10 on a 43-yard Shaun Suisham FG and a QB Jason Campbell TD toss to WR Antwaan Randle El (5 yards). However, the Ravens conclud- ed the scoring with a QB Joe Flacco to WR Derrick Mason 28-yard TD with 3:35 left in the game. What’s your favorite thing about the game of football? “Justthe whole atmosphere. It’s a fun game, and a lot of us have beenplaying it since we could run. You’re doing something that’s sofun, and then there’s everything else that ties in with that – thestadium with 70,000 fans yelling and the fact that you get to goout there and hit another person legally. It all feels good. It’s alsoabout a group of men coming together for one common goal. It’svery fun.”

When did you start playing? “I was eight and played PopWarner. I was too big to play with the little kids, so I had to moveup. I was eight playing with the 10-year-olds.”

What made you want to focus on Sickle Cell Anemia withyour charity work? “With the economy so bad right now, I justwanted to give back to a charity, and I wanted to actually see theresults. I wanted to give back to something that I feel is important.Sickle cell, you don’t really hear too much about it, so that’s whyI chose that.”

You recently had a pretty big birthday bash, which helpedraise money for Sickle Cell. What went on at that party? “It wasreally fun. It was launching my LLC, Team Sizzle Worldwide. It’s anentertainment company. It’s also a movie production company. I’mgetting into movies, making films. I want to make films that are notjust the typical film that a young African-American, 26-year-oldfilmmaker would make. I want to tell good stories that people canpop in five years from now and say, ‘This is a really good movie,’and watch it over and over.”

Does the production side or the writing appeal to you most?“I do the writing, and I do the production – all of it, right now. Notso much acting. I’ve co-starred and done cameos, but I will wait tobreak into acting.”

What are your top three favorite films? “Definitely the ‘Ocean’s’movies, ‘Finding Forrester’ and ‘The Usual Suspects.’ You mademe narrow it down to three, but I’ve got a whole bunch of them.”

What’s your favorite part of the holiday season? “Christmas. The whole family is coming together. Even the stupid little argu-ments that you get to have, you’ve just got to enjoy the wholeexperience because you never know how many family membersare going to make it to the next Christmas. I just love Christmasbecause it’s the biggest family holiday of the year.”

Is there something about the Christmas season that youcould do without? “The shopping. It’s just a hassle. Your favoritestuff, people already got.”

Are you a procrastinator with your Christmas shopping? “Bigtime. I’ll be doing most of my shopping on December 23.”

What other nicknames have you had besides “Sizzle”? “Mydad used to call me ‘Tubs.’ I know I’m not going to hear the end ofthat. He also used to call us ‘One-two.’ There are five of us kids, and ‘One-two’ means let’s go. Even when there was just one of us,he’d say, ‘One-two, let’s go.’”

What’s the best concert you’ve ever attended? “Beyonce rightthere at First Mariner Arena. I’m a big fan. Anybody who knows meknows that. I had this alternate fantasy that we used to date backin high school. I’ve got the whole story drawn up in my mind howwe used to date and then we broke up because I went to collegeand she went to pursue her music career. Then she met Jay-Z,and Jay-Z called me up and said, ‘I’d like to marry her,’ and I’m like,‘Hey, she chose you. I give you all my blessing.’ Just a little funthing.”

Perhaps a movie might come out of this story? “No! It’s all ingood fun. I just love her. I’m a big fan of hers. I think she’s gor-geous. I think she’s beautiful.”

CBS’ BILL COWHER ON THE RIVALRY BETWEEN THERAVENS AND THE STEELERS: “It’s about two hard-hittingteams that take pride in how they play the game of foot-ball…It’s called a rivalry. And I think that’s what you havebetween Baltimore and Pittsburgh. I agree with Shannon[Sharpe]. The bottom line is you want to send a message. There are certain players that represent their teams. HinesWard represents what the Pittsburgh Steelers are about andhow they play. Ray Lewis represents the Baltimore Ravensand how they play. These are the guys that you want to senda message to on that given Sunday.”STEELERS HEAD COACH MIKE TOMLIN ON IF THEBIGGEST RIVALRY THE STEELERS HAVE IS WITH THERAVENS: “Well, you know we’ve got some big rivalries inthis division. We think the Cleveland one is pretty big, too,but I’d be hard-pressed to pick one over the other. It’s thepeople involved [who make the rivalry]. That’s a dynamicgroup over there, led by some strong-willed people. I believethat we have the same here, and I think it creates for an inter-esting matchup.”HINESWARD ON IF THE RAVENS ARE THE STEELERS’BIGGEST RIVAL: “Yes. There’s no question about it. I mean, for the past couple of years it’s either been Baltimore orPittsburgh winning the division, and it’s just been that natu-ral respect for one another. But there’s no love lost between[the teams]. The rivalry itself is just based off of the way weplay against each other. It’s always been a physical game, andregardless of records or what not, we know going into thegame it’s always going to be a tough one.”JOHN HARBAUGH ON JASON BROWN TALKING ABOUTTHE CLOSENESS OF THE TEAM: “I know they get togeth-er a lot. I know that the O-line, the quarterbacks, the defen-sive guys get together. Wives, they do some bowling-typestuff, or just go out to dinner. As a coach, you feel like that’sa good sign because you’ve got guys that like one another. And if they like one another, it’s more important to them tonot let each other down if they have respect for one another.I think we have that with our team.”TROY SMITH ON HOW MUCH MORE THE OFFENSE CANOPEN UP: “The sky is the limit. We haven’t even touched thetip of the iceberg yet. There are so many different things thatwe can still get better at. We are young. Very young. [Thereisn’t] a glass ceiling on top of this team, so we can do noth-ing but get better.”THE SPORTING NEWS VINNIE IYER’S POWER POLLON THE RAVENS: “Not only do running backs have to con-tend with 345 pounds of Haloti Ngata, but they must face aton of intensity in Ray Lewis. Ouch.”MARQUES DOUGLAS ON THE COLD: “It brings out thatlittle kid in you. You’re going to be cold. They’re going to becold, but at the same time, you block it out for three hours.”

CBS’ SHANNON SHARPE ON THE RAVENS AND STEELERS:

“THERE IS A LOT OF DISLIKE BETWEEN THE RAVENS AND THE STEELERS…OK,HATRED, BETWEEN THESE TWO TEAMS. THIS IS THE HATFIELDS AND MCCOYS. WHATYOU TRY TO DO IS, YOU TRY TO IMPOSE YOUR WILL ON ONE TEAM, THEN THEY TRY TOIMPOSE THEIR WILL ON YOU, BECAUSE YOU WANT TO SEND A MESSAGE. THIS IS ALLABOUT MENTAL. BECAUSE BOTH TEAMS…ALL TEAMS IN THE NFL ARE PHYSICALLYGIFTED, BUT MENTALLY YOU WANT TO SAY, ‘WE’RE TOUGH TODAY.’”

SI.COM’S JIM TROTTER ON THE RAVENS THIS SEA-SON: “Baltimore has taken on the personality of its first-yearcoach, John Harbaugh, who believes that no challenge is toogreat. Despite losing perennial Pro Bowl left tackle JonathanOgden to retirement in the offseason and opening the yearwith a rookie quarterback and an aging defense, he refused toapproach the season as a rebuilding year.”REX RYAN ON HOW THE RAVENS’ DEFENSE HAS SHUTTEAMS OUT, ESPECIALLY IN THE FOURTH QUARTER:“That’s a trend I would definitely want to see continue. That’d be great. It’s just a team thing. Our team is playingwell. The offense is controlling the football, able to move theball with some consistency. And then our defense, it’s usual-ly a good thing if we can get ahead in the fourth quarter, thenwe’re a tough team to come back on.”JOHN HARBAUGH ON IF HE GETS THE IMPRESSIONTHAT THE STEELERS GAME HAS MORE WEIGHT ON ITTHAN OTHERS: “No. Everybody can make out of any gamewhat they want to make out of it. It might be interesting forsome people or some fans more than other fans, but nonethe-less every single [game] counts the same. It’s a win or it’s aloss depending on how you play.”RAY LEWIS ON THE PROGRESSION OF RAVENS DTHALOTI NGATA: “[It’s] the same way I gauged it from DayOne. He’s a phenomenon. He’s playing the game at a very, very high level. I’ve been around football a long time, but tosee that guy’s gifts athletically and what he does to destroyoffenses, it’s really special – definitely when you’re playingbehind him.”DERRICK MASON ON IF HE IS PLEASED WITH WHATTHE RAVENS’ OFFENSE HAS BEEN ABLE TO DO THISSEASON: “Yeah, I am. We’ve achieved, I think, what we setout to achieve for ourselves. Obviously, we didn’t [limit]some of the turnovers earlier in the season, but I think as awhole, the biggest thing is our cohesiveness and our attentionto detail. I think the main thing is that we’ve played hard, theway that coach Cam [Cameron] and coach [John] Harbaughwanted us to play.”TODD HEAP ON GETTING A 24-10 WIN VS. THEREDSKINS IN PRIME TIME: “We haven’t had huge suc-cesses in these games. So to come out and beat a team in arivalry-type atmosphere against the Redskins - it’s big for us.Hopefully, we can use this as momentum to get us throughthe rest of the year.”ED REED ON IF THE STEELERS GAME WILL BE MOREEMOTIONAL: “No…emotional, I don’t know about that. That is a good team coming in here, and once we start to lookat the tape, we’ll see what we got, and what we are going upagainst.”ESPN’S TOM JACKSON ON ED REED: “Ed Reed is thebest big-play safety in possibly the history of the NFL.”

(The Ravens entered the postseason as a Wild Card in 2000 on their way to winning Super Bowl XXXV.) Among theSteelers’ impressive victories this season are wins at New England (33-10 on 11/30) and at Washington (23-6 on 11/3.) MikeTomlin fields a hard-nosed team that brings tremendous physicality and toughness to every game. On the offense it starts withQB Ben Roethlisberger, one of the NFL’s best QBs – and probably the best at making plays after escaping pass rushers. “Youthink you have him, and he shakes it off and completes a pass down field,” Rex Ryan said. When “Big Ben” looks for help in thepassing game, often he finds 4-time Pro Bowl WR Hines Ward. WR Santonio Holmes, a 1st-round choice, is also a big threat.Behind an O-line that features Pro Bowl LT Marvel Smith, RB Willie Parker, another Pro Bowler, runs among the league’s elite. There are 5 Pro Bowl players starting for the Pittsburgh defense: Aaron Smith and Casey Hampton on the D-line, James Farriorand James Harrison at LB and the omnipresent S Troy Polamalu in the secondary. OLB LaMarr Woodley, the 2007 2nd-roundpick from Michigan, is 2nd on the Steelers with 11.5 sacks. The Steelers have lost 5 straight at M&T Bank Stadium, but 2 of thosehave come in overtime (16-13 in 2005 and 13-10 in 2003.) Prior to last season’s 27-21 loss in Baltimore, the Steelers had alreadyclinched a spot in the playoffs. Pittsburgh’s last win at M&T Bank Stadium came in 2002 (31-18).

“You have to take chances in life to be successful. You have tobe willing to do things that the masses wouldn't do, or I don'tthink that you're ever going to separate yourself from the mass-es. Is it a little bit more of a perceived chance? Yeah, if you did-n't spend the last 15 hours with John Harbaugh. But the time wespent with him gave me a comfort level that we've hired the rightguy. So, a lot of things went into a lot of candidates, but the bot-tom line is I feel good about our choice, and I like the fact thatJohn gets to build his legend right here."- Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti on John Harbaugh (1/19/08)

Ravens Recap—Tuesday 12/2 As a part of the NFL and J.C. Penney Co. Inc. “Take a Player to School” program, Ravens TE Todd Heap

tagged along with Piney Ridge Elementary School 3rd-grader Zach Owings.

Ravens Players Host 4th Annual Holiday Helpers Several Ravens and Orioles players supported QB Kyle Boller, WR Derrick Mason and CB Samari Rolle at their 4th Annual Holiday Helpers event. Over 50 children were paired with a Ravens or Orioles player or

cheerleader as their celebrity shopper.

Heap spent time with the Owings family in their home before the school day began.

When Heap and the Owings family arrived at school, they were greeted by

Zach’s enthusiastic classmates. Zach’s physical education class got the opportunity to race the NFL Pro Bowler.

The Oriole Bird and Ravens mascot Poe were dressed in their holiday gear.

Orioles pitcher Chris Ray gave his jersey to his shop-

per at the end of the evening.

QB Joe Flacco met with the youth before the shopping began.

UMD mascot Testudo joined in on the shopping spree.

RB Ray Rice was pulled down the aisle by his shopper.

The entire Ravens cheerleading squad at-tended the event.

Cheerleader cards quickly became a hot commodity in the break room. In his fourth year hosting the event, Rolle partnered with

a patient from Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital.

HEAD COACH JOHN HARBAUGH: MONDAY TRANSCRIPT

Opening statement: “Thanks for coming. We’ve had a chance to study, and the guys have been in and watched tape and been through the game. Obviously, it was a great win against a very good football team – a team that’s got aspirations for the playoffs and had a lot to play for, and our guys responded well. [There were] a lot of little things in the game, when you watch it, too many to mention, I guess, to go through guy by guy. But, a lot of the unglamorous work was done by our team – run defense, pass protection, run blocking, wide receivers blocking the run, defensive backs tackling, and all the stuff that guys normally don’t get noticed for, they did. And that’s what you need to do to win football games. Coverage in special teams was excellent. [There was] a lot of good blocking in the return game. So, just a lot of little things that make us proud of a tough victory in December.” Do you attribute RB Willis McGahee’s play in last night’s game to lack of execution or rustiness or something else? “Your premise is that he didn’t play well? I don’t see it that way. Willis hammered it up in there. He had the one pitch thing, the wind took the thing and moved it about two feet, so he did the best he could with it. He’s going to be fine. He ran hard and pass protected and was OK.” How is McGahee today after his slight concussion and stinger in the game last night? “He’s OK. He had a little stinger – he had a little tingling and stuff – but he’s going to be fine.” How is RB Ray Rice today? “Ray has got a contusion in his lower leg. We don’t think it’s anything more than that, and we’ll see how he does.” Is he day-to-day? “He looks OK. Day-to-day. Like all of us. That’s a great point. We’re all day-to-day. That’s pretty good.” Is it hard for the team not to get a little more amped up for the game against Pittsburgh since it is a divisional game and because of the game’s playoff implications? “You say more amped up? You’re saying that we weren’t as amped up as we could be for every other game? It’s kind of derisive towards the other games.” But isn’t it comparable to, say, Ohio State versus Michigan rivalry to your family? “More or less, it’s irrelevant. It really is. It’s the next one up. It’s really important. Derrick Mason did a great job of explaining it last night, and I really agree with him. Do [the games] become more important as they go? Absolutely, because the more games you win and the deeper you get into the season, they do become more important. The fact that it’s a division rival, it’s the two top teams in the division. It’s pretty appropriate that the two best teams in the division will be playing for the division championship, really not just this week but for the next three weeks. So in that sense, OK. It’s exciting to be a part of it and our players have earned it. And our fans are excited to be a part of it and they’ve earned it. They did a great job [last night]. Our fans did a great job last night. You guys all know they did. That place was loud. It was rocking, and we expect it to be even louder and more rocking this next game.” Has FB Le’Ron McClain proven to you that he can be the team’s starting running back every week? “Le’Ron is our guy every week. Ray [Rice] is our guy every week, and Willis [McGahee] is our guy every week. That’s how we’ve done it; that’s how we’ve done it every week. You guys want us to name a starter and say, ‘He’s our No. 1 back.’ We just don’t do it that way – not right now. We’ve got three guys right now. They are our guys and we believe in them. And the great thing is those guys believe in each other. Those guys have confidence in each other and they pull for each other, too. “ What explanation did you get from officials regarding Redskins QB Jason Campbell’s fumble being negated because officials ruled that his forward progress had been stopped? “When they rule it dead, when they determine that they’ve blown the whistle because forward progress has been stopped, then there’s no challenge about possession. So basically, he’s down by forward progress. He’s down by the whistle at that point, so you can’t challenge that.” Is that a rule you would like to see addressed at the end of the season? “Well, no, because once they make that determination, it’s a judgment call. So they’ve made it, they’ve blown the whistle. It’s over at that point.” Do you just try to rack up the wins and see where you are at the end of the season, or is being the division champs something that would give you more incentive because it offers better playoff positioning? “Yeah, all of the above, I think, is true. Plus, the fact that we want to be division champs. We want to be champions. That’s something every team in the division definitely plays for, so we’re not backing down from the fact that that’s our goal. The Steelers stand between us and the division championship, and they’re next up on the schedule. So all those reasons are good reasons.” What can you tell us about the Steelers based on your first meeting? What did you learn about them? “They’re good. The Steelers are good. They’re tough. They’re resilient. They play hard. They’re No. 1 in the division at this point. They’ve got a quarterback that went to a great college.” (Laughter) Can you talk about Cam Cameron’s play-calling, particularly the fourth-and-one pass to TE Todd Heap? “Those are great calls when they work, right? We’d have a different set of questions here if that thing didn’t work, you know? But one thing about Cam Cameron, we’ve talked about this before, he builds his offense on fundamental soundness – attention to detail, protecting the football, being physical, all those things. But he’s creative, and he’s gutsy. We were talking to the defense back there right before the call was made, and it was fourth-and-one-plus, maybe. So we’re right around plus-40 territory, and I went back to the defense just to let them know, ‘Hey, we’re going for this thing.’ They kind of looked at me and [said], ‘Punt them down in there!’ And I said, ‘We’re going for this thing, and you get them stopped if it doesn’t work.’ Then it was, ‘Wait until you see this call.’ So then they all jumped off the bench, and they were watching. They couldn’t believe it, either. And Todd [Heap] did a great job of executing it, as did Joe [Flacco]. So that’s Cam Cameron at his best.” The way that play was designed, was Heap really the only option? If he wasn’t open, what would Flacco have done? “He’d have probably had to find a way to get the first down on his own, I guess. That’s the main option on that. That’s a drawn-up deal.”

Who got the best of the collision between Flacco and Redskins LB London Fletcher? Do you say anything to Flacco about sliding and limiting his exposure to big hits like that? “We’d rather he slide. We’d rather he not put himself in too many of those situations. I mean, what a competitor. He’s trying to find a way to get the first down. That’s tough sledding against a linebacker like London Fletcher.” Talk about Rex Ryan using defensive backs in the pass rush. “Well, the biggest thing about that, and what Rex does such a great job of, in terms of scheme is, anybody on the field can be coming from anywhere at anytime through any gap. And that makes the offensive scheme have to account for all those possibilities. So, you can’t just diagram it up and say, ‘We’re going to account for the four down linemen and the Mike in this protection, and the two backs have these two outside linebackers plus.’ You don’t know, who is the Mike? Who are the two outside linebackers? Who are the four down linemen? Rex makes it really difficult to define that for the pass protection scheme. Basically, they have to rule it up in just a more base manner and block area. That’s part of Rex’s brilliance, the way he schemes it up.” Coach Jim Zorn described it as a “circus look.” What do you think about that? “Circuses, I’m sure, are very well organized, and very detailed and very precise. That’s what Rex’s defense is – hard to decipher, no question about it. And that’s the beauty of it.” Can the players look forward to the team’s position with the three remaining games, or do you prefer them to take it week-to-week? “If they… If a player wants to look at it and say, ‘OK, this is where we stand; these might be the tiebreakers,’ it’s not something we’re going to talk about as a team because it’s not really pertinent to what we have to get done. We have to win, just like everybody else in the playoffs. If they want to get to where they want to get, they have to win. That’s what you get to this point for. What have we done? We’ve earned the right to play one more meaningful game in December. That’s all we’ve done. But that’s a lot, and that’s something to be proud of. And here we go. Let’s go play this game. Let’s get ready to play it.” What makes S Jim Leonhard a good candidate for blitzes? “I would say Jim is a candidate just like all our other guys. Jim is a really good athlete. He can run, he can jump. I think he had a batted ball in the game. He’s athletic. He gets there quickly. But I think all of our guys do that well.” Leonhard was brought in for special teams and was in a backup role, then he stepped in for Dawan Landry. How special of a player is he? “He’s been a starter for a lot of his career in Buffalo. I think we felt like he could be a starter if that situation came up. But all those guys who are backup players… The reality of it is all those guys, you [the media] want to label them a ‘special teams player,’ you want to label them a ‘backup.’ Labels don’t matter, they don’t mean anything, because they’re all football players and they’ve all got to step in and fulfill a role. We had Daren Stone out there playing on our defense, blitzing and then dropping out into coverage. So whatever his label is, the label I think that we’d like to have for our guys is they’re football players and that they play like Ravens. That’s enough for us.”
