AmCham Denmark’s Analytical Instruments Committee is pleased to announce the 18th annual Executive Seminars in Analytical Chemistry: ESAC 2018. ESAC brings together manufacturers, leading scientific researchers, progressive vendors and cutting-edge technology within the field of analytical instruments. Experiences, methods, results and the latest developments will be presented within four core areas: Life Science / Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Food / Environmental and Clinical / Forensic applications. Microplastic is everywhere – in our water, air, soil, and food. It is an emergent issue threatening human and en- vironmental health. Little is known on the occurrence and fate of microplastic, partly because the issue is new and partly because microplastic is rather difficult to analyze for. In this emerging research field, AAU has established a strong laboratory for detecting microplastic, including ac- quiring two Agilent Cary’s 620/670 FTIR Imaging systems with 128 pixel FPA’s. This presentation will address how we use FTIR imaging to detect microplastic down to the a few micrometers in size. Jes Vollertsen is Professor of Environmental Engineering and leads the section of Water and Environment at Aal- borg University, Denmark. He has primarily worked with biological, chemical and physical processes in polluted ur- ban and rural aquatic systems. He leads a research group on microplastic consisting of 5 full-time microplastic re- searchers and affiliated students and lab technicians. The main focus of the microplastic research is on developing and improving analytical methods for its quantification in environmental matrixes. He has authored many scientific publications, here of 95 published in Web of Science listed publications. Wednesday, April 11, 2018 - Scandic Copenhagen GUEST EXHIBITOR REGISTRATION: To register, visit www.esac.dk by April 4. Participation is free of charge (Continental breakfast, lunch, coffee & soft drinks will be provided) No cancellations after: April 4 (thereafter, cancellations & ‘no shows’ will be invoiced for DKK 500 (ex.
