Cetex Quarterly Review
Cetex Petrochemicals Ltd has successfully
completed the first quarter of 2012-2013,
inspite of the global economic slowdown in
US and Europe, and its cascading effect in
Asia.
Cetex overcame the challenges, achieving
Rs 32.5 crores sales and Rs 7.7 crores
turnover in exports. Some of the extrinsic
factors that influenced our financial
performance include the record hike of
price of our raw material Butene in April,
and the steep fall in international MEK
prices due to an unexpected dip in
Naphtha prices.
On a positive note, we hope to revive our
margin and achieve record sales in the next
quarter.

niche areas such as safety audits, fire and
flammability studies, chemical reaction hazard
analysis, electrostatic hazard analysis, safety relief
system design and safety management system.
Similarly, our specialized energy audits caters to
specific industry requirements such as steam
distribution and condensate recovery, power
distribution, boiler efficiency improvements, energy
efficient drives and combustion efficiency.
Additionally, our specialized training courses for
engineering graduates, in its third year now, is part of
CPL‟s initiative to mould engineers to find real-world
solutions for industrial bottle-necks. In line with this
view, the core module focuses on helping students
realize the underlying workings of petrochemical
industries through practical field work.
R&D
In order to expand the scope of its R &D division, we
have initiated strategic interaction with IITM faculty- to
improve our productivity and norms control, and
enhance the value of our byproducts.
Product Search
CPL aims to introduce products with wide-range of
industrial applications in the near future, with the
commissioning of technology feasibility studies for
Propylene based products, Methyl Iso Butyl Ketone
and Highly Reactive PIB this year.
Project Update
CPL is now moving forward with our plant
expansion activities. At present, work is on
the way with our consultants for both
residual engineering and project
management. A proposal for a 2 MW Bio-
Mass based co-generation plant to meet the
energy needs is also being finalized.

Management Virtue
Once Birbal and Akbar started on an early
morning stroll when they met a man who was
considered an evil man and meeting him was
certainly inauspicious for Akbar. The emperor
immediately offered,” Execute this man as by
seeing his face my day has been ruined.”
Birbal unsuccessfully attempted to convince
the emperor for forgiving the man and save
his life. Akbar, vehemently said, “No, he has
to be executed as I have seen his face in the
morning.”
Finally Birbal said, “Imagine Sir, the poor
man‟s fate. You know whose face he saw to
prove man‟s face he saw to have this harsh
punishment today.”
Of course, the man was there left free as
Akbar realized his folly.

Investment in gas based power generation is the future of the petrochemical industry. The burgeoning
energy demands of the dynamic segment underlines the need for cost-effective fuel with low gestation
period.Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) has the potential to change the quantum of our energy savings,
bolstered by its significant advantages over coal-based power plants.
Of course, zero inventories, easy handling, to pivotal cost savings are some of the key factors that make
it an ideal candidate for an energy-efficient transportation fuel. It invariably holds the key to a
sustainable economy.
