IJPS Trip to Louvre Museum

The Louvre Abu Dhabi is an art and civilization museum, located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The museum was inaugurated on 8 November 2017 by the French President Emmanuel Macron and United Arab Emirates Vice president Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. IJPS arranged a trip to Louvre Museum, on Thursday, 25th of April, 2019 for grades 5 to 9. Museum visits had never been among our most exciting childhood memories, but Louvre Abu Dhabi has changed the mindset. Artifacts of beauty from all different civilizations are placed together creating echoes and continuing legacy of one man: the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

When is Ramadan: Ramadan is traditionally marked by the sighting of the crescent moon on the ninth month of Hijri / Islamic Calendar. This year, it is most likely to fall on Monday, May 6, 2019. However, as mentioned earlier, it can only be confirmed after the Maghrib prayer of a previous day. What is Ramadan all about? Ramadan is regarded as the best month of the year for Muslims as it was the month in which the Quran was revealed to the prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on the night of Laylat Al Qadr. “The month of Ramadan (is that) in which was revealed the Quran, a guidance for the people and the clear proof for guidance and criterion. So whoever sights (The new moon of) the month, let him fast it, and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and doesn't intend for you hardship and wants for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that (to) which he has guided you: and perhaps you will be grateful.”

Surah Al-Baqarah 2:185 The annual observance of Ramadan is considered as one of the ‘Five Pillars of Islam’ . What Muslims do in Ramadan

Muslims observe fasting during the whole month. Adult Muslims are required to fast from dawn to dusk every day throughout Ramadan. In addition to abstaining from eating, drinking, and smoking, Muslims also refrain from sinful speech and behaviour. Muslims pray Taraweeh every night for 30 days, after Isha prayers. Ramadan is a period for Muslims to rehearse self-control, patience, and compassion for those less privileged Basic Ramadan etiquette During Ramadan, Muslim countries practice the following etiquettes (even for the non-Muslims)

No eating, drinking, smoking in the public during fasting hours

No engagement in any aggressive behavior.

No music in public. Not wearing inappropriate clothing

No swearing and abusing.

UAE INSPECTION FRAMEWORK Teachers need a variety of professional development skills along with knowledge of their subject matter and experience in order to be an effective teacher. Same practice continues in IJPS where Professional development is of highest importance. From 7th – 11th April, training inside school was at its full swing where Support and intervention strategies in context of Attainment/Progress/ Learning skills/ Personal development/ Curriculum /G&T /Differentiated strategies were the centermost priorities. Training initiated by Miss Shaama/ Rabia/Espiranza and Miss Crystal to update individual’s knowledge of a subject.

TEACHER TRAINING IJPS accentuate on integrating increasingly multicultural classrooms to update teacher’s skills, attitudes and approaches in light of the development of new teaching techniques and objectives, new circumstances and new educational research. School also encourages individuals to apply changes made to curricula or other aspects of teaching practice. During the trainings that continued for 1 week, teachers were trained to apply new strategies concerning the curriculum and other aspects of teaching practice. Miss Dalia initiated the on-going training practice followed by Miss Rabia, Crystal, Espiranza and Miss Shaama to name few.

TEAM AND LEADERSHIP Strategic school building leadership is important because education in the 21st century is a new frontier and IJPS recognizes the challenges. Therefore UAE school inspection Framework is given wide importance and counting on it when it comes to Attainment, progress and learning skills of students. Workshops are headed mostly by the aspiring school principal and teachers of each department take full responsibility in training each other so that the teachers are able to indicate participation in multiple activities.
