SUNDAY20TH JUNE

AUSTRALIA’S MOST FAMOUS CLUB EVER!
2 #NPLNSW
Australia’s most famous football club ...
The Club that has had the most Socceroos, National team players, and Socceroo Captains, of any other Club, in the nation - ever.
APIA is officially, the highest ranked National Premier League 1 Club, in the Country.
The 1987, Championship National League, all conquering, winning APIA squad, all of which today, are legends of the game, and remain the Invincibles, of Australian Football history, a feat that is unlikely to be surpassed, in our lifetime.
A 33-year extraordinary record, that remains intact until this day with the longest unbeaten streak, in a National Competition, proper.
The Club that has produced Australia’s, greatest ever footballer, Joe Marston, the very first Australian to play in a FA Cup Final, the first Australian to play professionally in the top tier, being the English Premier League.
The A-League, Grand Final, Player Of The Match, is awarded and named after, in honour of Joe Marston, annually.
The Club that has had the most players signed, scouted, and recruited, from any National Premier League Club, in Australia - in essence APIA Leichhardt Tigers, has produced the most players to be acquired and signed into the A-League, since the A-League’s memorable, inception.
First-ever Club, in 2019 / 2020 to be the Number 1 Club, in all sections: Men’s National Premier League 1, Women and Girls Premier League 1, Boys Youth League, and Skills Acquisition Program. This feat is unlikely to be ever repeated, and again, we humbly suggest, in our lifetime.
We are heading towards A-League status, and there is no doubt, that the Club, will establish ourselves, and raise to the very top, and the pinnacle of Australian Football, and eventually cement itself, and be ingrained and entrenched, in the highest Football competition in our World-famous Country - Australia’s A-League Football Competition.
Lambert Park, has for the past 66 years, been a facility, for everyone.

It has not been, and has never been, and will never be, for an elite few. It has been made available to all and sundry, as we, the Club, are a community leader, so we must lead, and ensure that Boys and Girls, from three years of age, up to Under 18s, at community grassroots level, Elite Boys and Girls, Elite Women and Men, wishing and desire, to play or participate in the World Game, have been given complete access to this facility, right up until today, this is what this Club, is all about.
Lambert Park in 2014, underwent an extraordinary, $3.5m upgrade, $2.2m, was kindly funded by the NSW Government and Clubs NSW.
The Club and private benefactors, and other sources, in cash, contra, and in-kind, contributed a further $1.4m.
The Clubs’ importance, history, tradition, heritage, and widespread community benefits, in providing a sporting environment, for young Australians’, and the youth of the Inner West, and further afield, was acknowledged by the record funding, that was granted to a community, Football Club in Australia.
APIA Leichhardt Tigers Football Club, is held in such high esteem, so much admired, cherished and loved, such a community pillar, and fabric of our society, such a significant focus, for thousands of peoples’ daily lives, the Club’s administrators, when they meet newly registered players, whether they are Juniors or Seniors, their parents, their grandparents, their relatives, their supporters and friends, the respect shown towards, all our Club Directors, Convenors, Coaches, Managers and support staff, all are genuinely, sincerely, and deeply shocked, by all of this.
This respect and admiration, is solely contributed, to the Club’s brand, the name, the Club culture, the history, and, of course, the game itself. It is amazing, and simply staggering, to understand and comprehend, the importance of the Club, within our society.
THE INNER WEST OF SYDNEY COMMUNITY PEOPLE’S CLUB.

A Message from APIA’S Head Coach - Paul Dee
An important clash this week against Rockdale, who are in the Top 5, and one of the teams vying for finals football.
Rockdale are always a challenging opponent, and despite some mixed recent form, I would expect nothing different this weekend. With well-known players all across the park, Rockdale play a positive brand of possession-based football and will be looking to attack in numbers whilst concentrating on staying compact in defence and be tough for us to break down.
Despite the recent loss of Kyle Cimenti to A-League Club Macarthur FC, Rockdale have bolstered their squad with Jordon Figon returning so have lost no potency in attack.
Rockdale are, however, coming off a challenging week with a clash against competition leaders in Blacktown, followed by a tough away game at Mt Druitt in the FFA Cup qualification match.
Our squad, unfortunately, is coming off a disappointing 2-1 away loss to Manly United. Despite being competitive throughout that match, and both teams pushing hard for the victory, we conceded a goal in the last minute of the game, courtesy of a well-executed free kick from Manly.
That result leaves us currently just outside the coveted Top 5 position, and as a squad we will remain focussed on our performances every match to give ourselves the best opportunity to break back in and play finals football.
In squad news this week, we are hoping that impacts felt from the recent list of injuries eases a little, and we have more players available for selection again with the likes of Paul Galimi, Themba Muata-Marlow and Sean Symons potentially making a return.
Ensuring all players get through the week of training and pass assessments prior to match day will be critical and, ideally, the coaching staff have some selection headaches to consider before the final line up for Rockdale is announced.
Considering the current congestion on the competition ladder around the base of the top 5, we have the opportunity to draw level with Rockdale on points if we secure victory. That opportunity is definitely something that the squad is aware of and a key driver of motivation for planning and game plan execution this week.

APIA Leichhardt will be desperate to keep their top five hopes alive with a win against Rockdale Ilinden at Lambert Park on Sunday.APIA was stunned by a late goal in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Manly United last week which put a major dent in the finals aspirations. Now three points behind fifth-placed Sydney Olympic, the Paul Dee coached APIA know the pressure is on with so few games left.APIA historically has an incredible record against Rockdale but the tide started to turn last season with Ilinden winning the last three clashes between these two sides.Josh Symons has led by example since returning from suspension at the back while the likes of talented youngsters Will Mutch and Matthieu Cordier have been a revelation for the squad. The elusive Peter Kekeris is someone that needs to be guarded closely while Blake Powell has slowly started to hit the back of the net at the right time.Looking to stop APIA, and also re-ignite their season, is a Rockdale side that comes into this game after they slumped to a 4-2 defeat to Blacktown City.It has been hard going for Ilinden for the past five weeks. They have lost their last three games and are without a win since round 11 which has been out of sorts for Steve Zoric’s men.Zoric is desperate to kick his team back into gear after
a mid-season stall which continues to get worse and worse as the weeks progress.Alec Urosevski is the focal point of Rockdale’s attack and he will need to conjure up some magic to guide his side to a much-needed win while the flair and trickery of Japanese import Tomoki Wada will need to be at its very best in undoing a solid APIA back-line.The visitors will be weary that a midweek FFA Cup Round 7 fixture could play a role in this huge. This game is one of the fixtures of the round and is set to be a thrilling contest you won’t want to miss.

Manly United 2 – APIA Leichhardt 1 at Cromer Park
A last-gasp header from young gun Jordan Devries snatched all three points for Manly United in a hotly-contested 2-1 victory over fellow finals aspirants APIA Leichhardt at Cromer Park on Friday night.
The young attacker’s late heroics ensured Paul Dee’s return to Cromer Park was not a positive one and prevented APIA from climbing into the top five for the first time this season.
In a tit-for-tat battle, the sides were level at the interval as Blake Powell’s fourth goal of the season cancelled out Luca Kmet’s opener.
Rockdale Ilinden 2 – Blacktown City 4 at Rockdale Ilinden Sports Centre
A Travis Major hat trick has helped Blacktown City stretch their lead at the top of the ladder with a 4-2 win against reigning premiers Rockdale Ilinden at Rockdale Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday.
Blacktown’s star striker couldn’t be stopped after opening his account from the penalty spot before netting twice more after the interval.
It was City’s day with the visitors opening the scoring after only three minutes before Major found his scoring touch ten minutes from the interval.
Rockdale’s Zac Sfiligoi was able to keep Rockdale in the contest early when he scored a 10th minute equaliser, however by the time Gauthier scored the home side’s second in the 86th minute the match was already lost.
The result cement’s Blacktown’s position on top of the competition ladder for another week, while Rockdale fall further behind in their premiership defence.

THE ANNUAL VIAREGGIO COPPA CARNEVALE WORLD YOUTH TOURNAMENT
APIA has been a participant in this prestigious World Class Tournament for nearly two decades rubbing shoulders with the likes of the mighty Juventus, A C Milan (the two most successful Clubs in this Tournament with nine titles each), as well as Manchester United and Inter Milan, to name a few.
The Viareggio Tournament, officially named the Viareggio Cup World Football Tournament Coppa Carnevale, is a youth association football tournament held annually in Viareggio, Italy and its surrounding areas. Established in 1949, the Torneo di Viareggio is considered one of the most important youth football tournaments in the world.
It coincides with the Carnival of Viareggio, starting on the third Monday of Carneval. The tournament runs for a fortnight, and finishes on the last Monday of the Carnival. For this reason, it is also known as the Coppa Carnevale (Carnival Cup).
