In Castlecomer with Chubby Brennan
Across the Dysart to a new fi eld of dreamsWATERLOGGING led to a change of venue for the Kilken-ny County ‘A’ Cross Country Championships. An inspection of the regular course at Joe
O’Shea’s in Dysart deemed the course ‘unplayable’ and it was farmer Liam Farrell who came to the rescue with land at his Damerstown farm.
It was red alert as the Gardai were informed of a pedestrian
Those were the days: St Pat’s United, Clogh, soccer teampassage from the parking area at Dysart along the N78 to the replacement race fi eld.
The course was laid out by Marty and Richard Connolly, assisted by John Cahalan. Garda Dunphy was assisted by a traffi c management team of Jim Carroll, Nicky and Majella Deevy, Damien O’Dornan, Marty Connolly, John Cahalan, Sean Malone, Enda Glennon and Denis Buggy.
Course offi cials were Mary Clarke, Sinead Connolly, Kath-leen Hurley and Donal Carroll. Local athletes were managed by Mary Buggy, Sinead Cahalan and Patrick Clarke, while the multi-tasking Margaret Dillon, club coach and County Board offi cial, was involved at all levels throughout a hectic three days.
Consensus as the event fi nished was that the seed of triumph had blossomed.
Doggedness and deter-mination were the defi ning characteristics of the input of some 50 local youngsters who competed in races from U9 to U17. Joey Ryan and Chris Kealy epitomised bravery when they recovered from falls at U9 to fi nish with a generous coating of mud.
Many U9s have another year in this grade. Molly O’Dornan led home a nine-strong team of girls, with Amelie Bolger,
Ana Ryan, Aoife O’Sullivan, Ella Tynan, Amy Ring, Ella Nolan, Leah Brennan and Grace Healy.
U9 gold was won by cross novice John Kenny. James Kenny, Oisin Conroy, Michael Brennan, Joey Ryan, Cian Holo-han, and Chris Kealy completed the ‘Comer contingent.
U11 boys team won bronze. Will Fox led to home in sixth, followed by Jack Murphy, Sean O’Dornan, John Kevin Malone, Kevin Holland, Cathal O’Reilly, Louis Feehan, Tommy Coogan, Liam Doyle and Ciaran Meagher.
U11 girls were fourth. Katie Clarke was seventh, followed by Shannon Conry, Sarah Brophy, Molly Ryan, Aoibhinn Brophy and Caoimhe O’Reilly.
U12 girls competed at U13. Aoife Cahalan, Ellen Buggy and Niamh Morrissey performed well. Illness sidelined Kate Ring and Sinead Healy. U13 boys won bronze. Conor Clarke led home in fi fth, followed by Killian Hogan, James Buggy, Nicky Connolly, Adam Jacob, Kevin Conry, Cathal Holland, Charles Feehan and Declan Buggy.
In a boys ‘U15, Sean Buggy led to within 500m of the end, where he was overtaken. He won silver. Injury ruled out Ross Connolly. Lauren Dermody fi nished seventh in U17.
The next two months will feature Leinster Championships
and County ‘B’ Championships.

I HOPE that I am talking to some people who have great focus and who instinctively keep their eyes on their objectives! The sub law of objective has three ingredients.
Firstly, worry not as to how exactly you will manifest what you want. The one universal intelligence has countless ways of bringing things about much more easily than you could come up with. A useful phrase to keep your objective clear and the means to get there unlimited is to say ‘Thank you for taking care of all my bills’, ‘thank you for my healing’, thank you for ... fi ll in the space with whatever vast altruistic wish or vast personal item you want!
Secondly, keeping your thoughts on your objectives means not letting them go back to past successes or
failures. This is it, right now; you are a grown up, in your most powerful position so far to carve out the life you want. Don’t victimize yourself by saying you can’t, never could, never will be able to or they won’t let me!
The third aspect of objective is as an opposite to subjective. When you’re subjective, you’re saying I need this and that, I am this and that, I want this and that...but, in reality you are not that small. When you’re objective, you’re saying ‘As a participator in this massive intelligent energy fi eld, I choose this and I choose that. This is the key to conscious creations that will reliably benefi t you and everyone else.
