Killdeer – Halliday Cooperative Education Agreement Recent discussions and action by the Killdeer School Board and the Halliday School Board has resulted in continuation of a Cooperative Joint Education Agreement for the 2018 – 2019 school year. The agreement must be approved by the Depart-ment of Public Instruction (DPI) to be finalized. Upon final approval by DPI the Killdeer District will provide pK-12 grade classes for its resident students and educate all 7-12 grade students from Halliday. Halliday will continue to provide grades K-6 for its resident students. Each District will maintain its own board and be responsible for its own fiscal management. Both Boards agreed that this relationship will best serve the educational needs of their students and provide a good “economy of scale” to allow for sound fiscal practices in each District.

HOSA Blood Drive
There was a spectacular turn-out at the recent Killdeer Community Blood Drive held on Friday, March 9th from
1:00pm to 6:00pm. The Killdeer HOSA group recruited 47 community heroes and of that number 36 were eligible
to donate, which provided the hospitals and clinics with 45 products. A tremendous effort was put forth by our
future medical professionals and leaders of tomorrow! So much in fact that there were 28 new first time donors
and for us at United Blood Services welcoming that many new donors to our team of heroes is a huge win. Look
for upcoming opportunities to donate in the community at www.bloodhero.com. Find the hero in you. Give blood
3 times a year.

Elementary Student Council We are now winding down to the end for our elementary student council. Last month, we had a healthy snack
sale. Thanks to all who contributed to it. We raised $307.00!!! There was a wide variety of goods and they sold
out real quick.
The student council donated money to purchase Dr. Seuss hats for all elementary students for Read across Ameri-
ca. It was so cute to see everyone reading with their hats on.
Our last meeting will be a little get together to celebrate the end of the year and all the accomplishments we have
achieved this year. They are a good group of students and worked very hard for the council.
Thanks for all your help with fund raising. It’s a great school family to work for.
Denice Sayler, Elementary Student Council

These students are the face of the future of health care in our state and county. HOSA is the largest organization to serve students who plan to pursue a healthcare career. HOSA’s two-fold mission is to promote career opportunities in the healthcare industry and to enhance the delivery of quality healthcare to all people. The current and projected shortage of healthcare professionals in North Dakota is creating a critical demand for an increased healthcare workforce. The North Dakota HOSA program prepares students to graduate with the skills necessary to make them career and college ready for degrees in much needed professions in the healthcare field. Because of the large number of national participants, the Killdeer HOSA chapter will be required to raise approximately $12,000.00 for the trip. If any company or individual is interested in helping these “future health care professionals” please contact Cherie Roshau, HOSA advisor at the Killdeer Public School.

Mrs. Boepple’s Book Bag
It’s BOGO Book Fair time!!! We had a successful Winter Book Fair in December (achieving $6,300 in sales). So now, we have
earned the option to conduct a BOGO or “Buy One, Get One” FREE book fair. If you buy one item, you get another item of equal or
lesser value free—basically, two for the price of one. Can’t beat a deal like that!
Killdeer Elementary BOGO Book Fair will be held from Monday, April 30 to Friday, May 4, in the Elementary Library. We will open
at 8:30 a.m. on Monday, and on Friday, we will end the Fair at 1:00 p.m. We will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Tues.,
Wed., and Thurs. There will be NO library classes Monday-Friday. In addition, we will be open during public library times: Monday,
7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Tuesday 3:15 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Thursday, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Keep in mind that items will sell out

I want to thank all patrons who have helped promote literacy and supported our library by purchasing books at book fairs and magazine
subscriptions during the fall magazine sales. By following your examples, your children understand the importance of reading.
