Dear Parents, this August we explored about fruitsespecially apples. The children learned about the differenttypes of apples and apple products. The young learnersexplored the taste and texture of red and green apples.As the theme was fruits, the dramatic corner was madeinto a fruit stall for the children to explore fruits and buyfruits. For Numeracy, length and weight was learned andchildren measured standardized and non-standardizedobjects..
In October, the last trimester of the year, children willbe discovering about animals. They would be learningabout Animal and Young and their Habitats.

BRAIN TRAINING ACTIVITIES
Brain training is an important learning tool in our school and the children learn braintraining techniques and hone their memory skills through play. Through memory skillgames, children learn to memorize the placement of fruits, recall it and position themaccurately.

Children while reading the story ofApple Blossom, were engaged inlearning about fruits. The younglearners learned about the names ofthe fruits and tried reading themphonetically.After reading the story of AppleBlossom, the children drew picturesof the fruits and wrote sentencesdescribing the fruits.

In Show and Tell, the children spokeabout fruits and its characteristics. Itwas observed that they love fruits andwere well informed that it is packed withvitamins.

The children recited poems during theliteracy lesson to improve theirpronunciation, diction and self-confidence.“ Little Cabin in the Woods” was recitedwith actions and expressions.

九月，我们的阅读故事是《小黑羊》：羊妈妈带着一群小羊，到山上去吃草。中午天气热，它带它们到树下乘凉。它告诉小羊：“只可以在附近玩，不要走远。”小黑羊不听话，趁妈妈没留意，偷偷溜走，它越跑越快，离开妈妈越来越远。它想：山上有这么多好玩的地方，妈妈为什么不让我们来玩？太阳下山了，天越来越黑，小黑羊很害怕，它想回家，可是它不认得路，便哭了起来。“小黑小黑，你在哪里？”“啊~是妈妈，妈妈来找我了！”小黑羊立刻跑过去，抱住妈妈，放声大哭。妈妈说：“别哭了，我们回家吧1”这个在故事告诉我们：出去玩的时候，一定要注意安全，不能到处乱跑。对了对了，这个月我们还有丰富多彩的中秋节活动呢，在做灯笼，泡茶，吃月饼等一系列的活动中，大家玩得都好开心呀！

Our story is, "Little Black Sheep". Mothersheep brings her flock of lambs, to themountains to eat grass. As it was hot thelamb was brought to the shade. Mumwarned the lambs to graze near and not gofar. The black sheep strayed furtherfrom the flock and went missing. The lambbecame worried but fortunately, her mumfound her.Her mum advised her to be safe at alltimes.
The school marked Moon cake festivalwith lantern making, drinking tea session,and eating moon cakes.

NUMERACY
The children learned aboutmeasurements by making playdoh.They measured spoonful of flour,salt, water and oil with a dash ofcolouring and mixed them uptogether and made playdoh.

Measurements of objects were also a topic thatwas covered this month. Non-standardizedmeasurements of using footsteps to measuredistances, cotton buds, strings were also used tomeasure objects.The children measured each other using theheight chart and recorded it in their workbook.

The children are playing catch and throw the ball. By throwing and catchingthe balls, their hand eye coordination improves and they have bettermuscle coordination. The children were enjoying themselves playingindoors.

The K1 and K2 children went to Kindsville Gallery on 7th September 2018. This trip is inconjunction with Kindness on Board project where the children learned to becourteous and kind to the transport staffs and to have a safe trip in buses and MRTtrains.

Apple Recipe for Waldorf Salad
4 Cups shredded iceberg lettuce, optional2 red apples, diced1 Tablespoon lemon juice¼ Cup grapes, halved½ Cup walnuts, chopped2 stalks celery, sliced½ Cup Plain yogurt, optional1. If using lettuce shred and place in bowl.2. Set aside. Have adult dice apples. 3. Pour lemon juice over apples so they won't turn brown. 4. Add grapes, walnuts and celery to apples and stir together. 5.Stir yogurt over top and mix together. Serve as is or mixed with lettuce.
