Tuesday Session 1 Session 2 Session 3 English Talk Time Challenge: Colour Treasure Hunt Tell your child that they are going on a treasure hunt to find colours in your house. Start with the colour green. Give your child a basket and tell them to go around the house looking for anything that is green. Talk about the treasures you have found. E.g. ‘That is a green apple!’ ‘This is a green leaf.’ ‘Look at the green cup.’ Ask your child to say the sentences after you. Put everything back and start again with another colour. Writing: Use the sentence stem ‘I am …’ to write 2 or more sentences. E.g. ‘I am … (put name). I am a boy/girl. I am 6.’ Add a picture.

REMEMBER

Mathematics 2D Shape Posters:

Make some big 2D shape posters. Make one big circle, triangle, square and rectangle. Look for 2D shapes in magazines. Cut them out and glue them to the shape poster they match.

CAPA What Other Things Twinkle Like a Star? Look at the pictures of words. Then say them out loud and clap their rhythm to decide how many sounds in each word. To begin, say and clap the rhythm of some names and decide the number of claps in each word.

Can you think of anything else that twinkles like a star? Pick your favourite thing and sing the 'Twinkle, twinkle little____' song about it! For example, ''Twinkle, twinkle little cat, how I wonder what you are .....'. You could record your song and upload it to dojo.

Alpha Breaths Butterfly Breath As you breathe in spread your arms like beautiful butterfly wings. As you breathe out flap them gently. Do 3 or more times.

Wednesday

Session 1 Session 2 Session 3 English Reading: Find a familiar picture book and use the pictures to retell the story to a parent or carer. Talk about what happens on each page. Phonics: s a t p i n Do the blending activity on the next page and match the picture to the word. Writing Copy and write 3 sentences from the book ‘A Tin’. Add some drawings.

Mathematics Guess My Number: Write numbers 1 to 10 on paper, or use cards to show how many you want to use. In the picture this student chose to use numbers 1 to 8.

The student asks someone at home to choose a secret number within the given range. That person is the ‘secret holder’. The student can try to guess their secret number in the fewest number of guesses possible, or, they must try to guess the number with only 3 guesses. After every guess, the 'secret holder’ tells the student whether the number is greater or less than their guess. Make sure the student understand that greater means bigger than and less than means smaller.

PD Healthy Habits Discuss how important it is to be safe at home - near heaters and power points, near the stove in the kitchen, and on slippery floors in the bathroom.

Explain why each place is safe or unsafe and how we need to be very careful and use healthy habits to stay safe. Use sentences with the word because to talk about safe and unsafe environments. E.g. 'I don't play with matches because it isn't safe.' ‘I don’t touch the stove because I will get burnt. Make a poster or take photos about how to stay safe at home.

Session 1 Session 2 Session 3 English Rhyming Words Write some words that rhyme with tin. Remember rhyming words have the same ending sound. In ‘tin’ the ‘in’ is the ending sound. Try some of these letter sounds in front of ‘in’ to make some rhyming words. Write some and read them.

Syllable Walk Walk around your home and find things that have 2 syllables, 3 syllables and 4 syllables. Say the words and clap the syllables as you walk around. Did you find anything that has 5 syllables?

Mathematics Counting forwards and backwards Use your fingers and count forwards to 10 and backwards from 10 to 0. Get 10 small things and a container. You could get counters or cotton balls or buttons or pegs. Count forwards as you put 10 things inside the container 1 at a time. Now count backwards as you take the objects out of the container 1 at a time. Number Poster Practice writing all the numbers from 0 to 10 down your page (not side by side). Next to each number do a drawing to show how many. E.g. next to 5 you could draw 5 stars, next to 10 you could draw 10 pieces of fruit. Draw them small so you can fit them next to the number.

History Study the picture on the next page. What do you think is happening in the photograph? How many people can you see? Who do you think is in the photograph? Where do you think they are? When do you think this photograph was taken? How is this birthday celebration of the past different to a birthday celebration today? Draw a picture of a birthday celebration you went to (it could be your own) and discuss the similarities and differences to the birthday celebration in the photo.

Alpha Breaths Dolphin Breath Breathe in as you lift your arms up high. Breathe out as you imagine diving into the ocean. Do 3 or more times.

Friday

Session 1 Session 2 Session 3 English Sight Words Practice writing these words 3 times each. am I is a the Point to them and read them. Now turn your paper over so you cannot see the words. Can you remember how to write 2 or more without looking? Remember you can visualize how each word looks in your mind with your eyes closed. Try and write some down on a new piece of paper. It’s ok to make mistakes. Try and write 3 from memory. Read them too Reading Listen to a story and then tell an adult what happened in the beginning, middle and end of the story.

Mathematics Addition You will need a dice and a pencils or texta. Roll the dice and count how many dots. Draw the dice pattern and write the number under your dice picture. Roll the dice again and count how many dots. Draw the dice pattern in a different colour and write the number. Count how many dots there are altogether. Write a number sentence. E.g. 2 and 6 is 8.

Closed Shapes Use the resource on next page called closed shapes and do the activity.

Play

Cubby House: Your job is to design and create a cubby house that will fit in a room inside your house. Check with your family about the best place to make this and some materials you are allowed to use. Take your favourite toys inside your cubby house and play. You can read a story to a soft toy or your parent.

Alpha Breaths Elevator Breath As you breathe in, imagine your breath going all the way up to the top floor of your belly. As you breathe out, imagine it going all the way down to the bottom. You can even count floors as you breathe. Do 3 times.

Closed Shapes In this lesson you will be exploring closed shapes. Do you know what a closed shape is? Point to the shapes and lines below.

These are examples of closed shapes and open lines. Point to a closed shape (the circle, pentagon, arrow or triangle).

This is a closed shape. The line around the outside joins so there are no gaps.

Point to an open line. This is an open line. The ends of the line do not join up. An open line can be curved or straight.

Look at the examples again. Point to the closed shapes.

Point to each shape and identify which are closed and which are open.
