KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION January 20 – 29, 2014 is Kindergarten registration week. It is important that your child is registered as soon as possible. Please call and make an appointment to register your child with Mrs. Wright at 705-324-3702. If you know of someone who has a child who will be attending JK in September, please share this information with them. FESTIVE DINNER
On the last day of school before the break, Dec 19, students and staff were treated to a delicious traditional turkey dinner. A huge thank you to Parent Council who organized this event,
to Home Hardware for donating money to buy the food, to Cambridge United Church for the use of its kitchen to cook the food, and to parents and volunteers who donated
their time to prepare and/or serve the meal. Activities like this help to bring us all closer together as part of the KAPS community and your support is appreciated.
HOLIDAY STORE Before the break, staff, students, and volunteers worked hard to organize and run our annual holiday store. It was so rewarding to see students smiling while shopping and wrapping gifts for the special people in their lives. Please accept a sincere thank you to those who donated their time to ensure that our kids were able to shop and experience the joy of giving. Your assistance was invaluable. HOLIDAY GATHERING
Our Holiday Gathering saw a record number of people in attendance! Thank you to parents, guardians, family and friends who attended our annual Holiday Gathering. Our afternoon began in classes with a slice of pizza and a craft that was created as a memento of our time together. We then moved to the gym where we were treated to songs, dances, and drama from our classes and to an amazing light show put on by Hallett’s Light Show. Thank you so much to Parent Council and Mark Hallett for your generosity with your time and skills in making this happen.
2014-15 School Calendar Feedback At the end of our newsletter is a copy of the 2014-15 Proposed School Year Calendar for Elementary Schools. The Proposed dates are also posted on the TLDSB website. Please take a look and provide us with suggestions and comments. Comments may be sent directly to [email protected]
GYMNASTICS Miss Hainer’s 3/4 class participated in a series of gymnastic lessons at the Lindsay Gymnastic Club. Thanks to JumpStart for supporting this opportunity for our kids, and to Miss Hainer for taking the time to apply for the grant, and to organize these lessons.

SAFE ARRIVAL At King Albert, we are committed to ensuring the safety of your child. Safe arrival programs enhance a safe and supportive learning environment, and allow us to account for any unexplained failure to arrive at school. We need your help to ensure that this program is successful. If your child is going to be absent, please ensure that you have notified the school prior to the start of the school day. In case of inclement weather, please continue to contact the school if your child will be absent. Also, please ensure that we have up-to-date phone numbers and emergency contact information. If an absence is unexplained, and we cannot reach you, police may be called to ensure safety. Thank you for your support in keeping our students safe.
