A Proposed Management Development
Program for SABIC Corporation
August 30, 2005
INTRODUCTIONThe proposal enclosed has been developed based on the meeting with Mr. Mohammed Al Bathi (Senior Vice President for Human Resources) and his two assistants, the study of the documentation that contains SABIC competency model, and deliberation of CIM concerned committee . Primarily it targets the middle management category of SABIC management and recently promoted managers to top management positions. The program mixes the concepts with application.

Shifting the emphasis from training to learning.

Logistics I. Prior to the launching of the program:
a. Three (3) teams from the College comprises of representatives in Management, Marketing, and Finance to visit 3 – 4 SABIC Affiliates each and meet with Executives in-charge to learn more about SABIC culture and inquire more of its fourteen competencies before finalizing the relevant training materials (see Appendix A). These visits must be concluded three months prior to the start of the program.
b. Once the list of participants finalized (should not exceed 25 individuals), a meeting with their immediate supervisors should take place before the start of the program.
c. It is highly recommended that such program to be held in a resort area such as Jubail Intercontinental Hotel, Half-moon Holiday Inn Hotel, or Sunset Beach facility.
d. Each applicant must fill-up the form in Appendix-B.
II. During the implementation of the program:
a. Everybody should observe his assigned role to ensure successful implementation of the program. These roles are spelled out in this presentation.
b. For session 2, 3, and 4, the following Faculty are involved:
Dr. Fazal Seyyed; Dr. Eid S. Al-Shammari Dr. Alhassan Abdul-Muhmin; and Dr. Mustafa Achoui
Participants shall be grouped into team of 5 members, report to one of the Faculty above prior to session 3 and up to the end of the program.

This includes the course materials, faculty fees, luncheon, team visits, and certificates. The accommodation of the participants are not included.
