Owls Home Learning Any work should be completed in children’s homework books or on lined paper. Year 6 already have SATs books they can use to help with their revision. Year 5 children have tasks to complete from the learning grid. Additionally, the work below adds more detail linked to English and Maths. All the below are suggestions to support you with your child’s learning during this time and should be used as you see fit. Please do not feel that every area has to be covered although I would encourage children to keep continuing with their learning during any period of closure. The key focus is learning homophones and this week we have looked at words ending in ‘ence’. English The children can write a short story of their choice. They should focus on this applying their understanding of story writing from earlier in the year, remembering non-negotiables and ‘wow’ me with their imaginative ideas, word choice and organisational skills. The following websites might help for ideas. The Literacy Shed https://www.literacyshed.com/home.html - lots of different sheds for discussion and writing ideas. Pobble 365 http://www.pobble365.com/ - a daily picture as a stimulus for discussion and writing. Grammar and Punctuation For Year 6 this is your main focus in English. Children will be set activities which they should attempt and then review. Spag.com www.spag.com Maths We are currently learning about area (rectangles and triangles), perimeter and volume. We would then move onto angles in triangles, 3-D shapes, circles (radius) and co-ordinates. We follow White Rose Planning and the link is below. You need to look at the Spring term planning for Y5/6 which will give you an overview and also some resources you can access for home learning.
