Design your Kiosk Application with the user in mind The user application is one of the most important pieces of the kiosk puzzle as the interface is the component with which the user interacts. Its development is dependent upon the purpose of the kiosk, as well as kiosk industry best practices. It should be short, simple, and intuitive as typical kiosks require the user to stand during use; the user will not tolerate an application that isn’t easy to navigate. Experienced kiosk developers can custom-develop a kiosk application specific to your needs, as well as help you to uncover the user interface issues related only to kiosks. For example, a kiosk relies on its applications to attract users to interact with the kiosk. During idle time, the kiosk application should rotate through an attract loop, telling users how to use the kiosk, what its purpose is, and what benefit the user will gain from the interaction. This attract loop can either be programmed into the application or provided by the kiosk system software. Utilizing this feature within kiosk system software can offer additional protection by clearing all cookies and cache from the previous user as soon as the attract loop begins again, which leads to the next point. Use off-the-shelf Kiosk System Software to secure your kiosk Many other security-related kiosk issues are also resolved by the kiosk system software. Kiosk software runs the application in a “kiosk-mode”, which deters users from maliciously attacking the kiosk. Kiosk software does this by wrapping around the application, allowing users access only to the application. This prevents access to the desktop, file system and URLs not applicable to the function of the kiosk. If the kiosk includes a keyboard, the kiosk software also disables all problematic specialty keys such as ctrl+alt+del. About ADSI (Analytical Design Solutions, Inc.)ADSI, incorporated in 1991, is an IT consulting company specializing in database, kiosk and web application development. In addition to our experience in developing custom kiosk applications specific to your needs, we have another advantage over most other developers: we can also provide you with the kiosk system software to secure your PC from malicious and unintentional attacks alike. We can do this because we developed it.

Our KioWare Kiosk Software was developed after completing our first kiosk application back in 2001. We recognized a need in the industry for a product that focused solely on securing the kiosk application, and have since expanded to offer system reporting, remote monitoring, device integration and the ability to create custom toolbar skins.

We have more than 20 years of application software development experience with over ten of those years focusing specifically on kiosk software development. We use this experience to create applications that can readily work within our KioWare Kiosk Software, allowing you to easily make any changes even after the application is developed and deployed. Integrating your custom-developed application with KioWare Kiosk Software is a natural fit as it also cuts down on time and development costs. After all, why reinvent the wheel?

Do you need a kiosk application developed? Call us at +1 717-843-4790 or 877-843-4790, or email us at [email protected].
