Muriithi MISSION To provide holistic, preventive and curative medical services to all with special concern to the poor and disadvantaged in the spirit of proclamation of Christs healing ministry VISION A leading Health Provider Facility in Kenya and beyond MEASURABLE RESULT Average number of monthly deliveries between 1 st October 2010 and 31 st March 2011 increased from 45 to 70 To promote infant and maternal health MDG No. 4 and 5 Mothers are the pillars of families - You catch the mother, you get all Most suitable project to harmonise hospital departments PRE LDP SITUATION ANALYSIS Average of 45 deliveries per month Maternity bed occupancy at 38% Unutilized newborn facilities Multi-tasking of staff working in maternity Well equipped labour room Trained and qualified personnel Equipped theatre for caesarian sections Well documented permanent registers (ANC, Maternity) ObstaclesRoot Causes Indifference with CommunityLack of awareness High staff turnoverPoor terms and conditions of employment Lack of departmental meetingsPoor management Highly subsized delivery charges in public health facilities Improved service delivery in public health facilities How does Kiriaini Mission Hospital achieve an average of 70 deliveries per month in view of the underlying obstacles? Sensitizing the management on:- Team building through regular staff meetings Review of staff terms and conditions Clear job description and orientation guidelines Focus on community Public awareness programmes through local FM radio stations and church gatherings Community mobilization through neiboring health facilities and opinion leaders Advocacy for enrollment with NHIF Administration and management Staff Clients Community Neighboring Health facilities NHIF Management ADDITIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS Establishment of:- A gynaecological clinic in the hospital Newborn unit (Nursery) hence no referrals On going CME for newborn management Satelitte Clinic in Muranga Town Others:- Recruitment of a sonographer Positive change of attitude Improved work climate and corporate image Increase in patients turn out in all departments WAY FORWARD Improve and sustain the number of deliveries Upgrade the laboratory department with modern equipment and increase efficiency NEXT MEASURABLE RESULT Reduced waiting time for specialised laboratory investigations from average of two and a half hours to thirty minutes between 1/05/2011 to 31/10/2011.
