Friday, 26 th July 2018 Dear Parents/Guardians Kiss ‘N’ Ride Program The safety of our students is of paramount importance to us. Therefore, we ask for your support in the implementation of the new Kiss 'N' Ride program which will begin on the 30 th July, 2018. The Kiss and Ride lane (the lane directly beside the sidewalk in front of our school) is solely to be used by parents/caregivers who are dropping- off/picking-up students in a timely fashion (1 to 2 minutes). The Canterbury Bankstown Council is very vigilant about this because a student was knocked down by a car at a local school in the area. There is also an increase in school numbers and the expected growth next year and beyond. There have also been issues with cars parked across driveways in surroundings streets, causing complaints from residents. The Kiss 'N' Ride program is intended for students in Years 1 to 6 If you have a child in Kindergarten, it is the responsibility of the older sibling to collect the Kindergarten child. If there is no older sibling you cannot use the Kiss ‘N’ Ride system, as they will need to be collected by a parent from the teacher in the school hall. The Kiss 'N' Ride program is intended for those wishing to quickly drop off & pick up children. If you need to park and collect your child/children, you will need to park away from this area. As of the 30 th July 2018, this area will be closed off. For this program to work successfully, the following rules will be implemented. Please follow all requests from the supervising staff members who will be assisting your child/children in and out of your vehicle during operating hours. Please respect the following rules: Kiss 'N' Ride operates every morning between 8:00am and 8:30am Kiss 'N' Ride operates every afternoon between 3:20pm and 3:45pm Cars will follow in a single file through the drop zone You are only allowed to stand in this zone for 1 to 2 minutes Have your child/children enter & exit your car on the curb side of the road Your child should have their school case on their lap to enable them to exit the car as quickly as possible on the sidewalk side Drivers should move as far as possible into the zone before stopping to allow students to enter or exit the car Do NOT leave your car parked or unattended (as you could obtain a fine) The teacher on duty will deliver your child to your car in the afternoon. Please be patient. We appreciate your support with this initiative. Thank you in advance for assisting to keep all our students safe.
