International Youth Day

KL University

On the event of International Youth Day 2015 on 12/08/2015, NSS

Volunteers in KLU formed a human chain in the form of a ribbon and read out the

pledge to create awareness on HIV/AIDS and Problems due to Alcoholism in the

campus.

Self Defense Training to Girl Volunteer

KL University

Self Defense training was given to girl volunteers of KLU on the eve of

Independence Day celebrated on 15/08/2015. Students from Karate Club of KLU

gave demonstration of various ways to encounter dangers when women are

attacked.

Swachh Bharat and Plantation Drive

Vaddeswaram

Swachh Bharat and Plantation Drive are conducted in village of

Vaddeswaram, Guntur Dt. on 30/08/2015. Around 120 Volunteers and Faculty

Incharges participated in the programme. Students visited around 200 Households

and handed over the plants and explained the importance of Cleanliness and

Afforest ration. Volunteers visited the shops and explained them how to maintain

cleanliness in their surroundings.

Blood Grouping Camp

KL University

This camp was organized on 01/09/2015. Blood grouping is done for

Freshmen Year students of KL University and Faculty Members. We collected this

data so as to use it whenever there is an emergency. Department of Bio-

Technology and KLU NSS Cell Jointly organized this activity. Students of Bio-

Tech have done the grouping for around 2500 Students. Department NSS Incharge

Mr Siva Reddy, Asst Prof, BT has taken responsibility to conduct this event.

Blood Donation Camp

This camp was organized on 15/09/2015 by KLU NSS Cell and Department

of Bio-Technology. Lions Blood Bank came forward for organizing this event.

Around 50 Volunteers and Faculty In charges participated in the programme.

There was immense response for this activity with more than 300 students from

KLU have opted donated blood.

NSS Day – NSS State Awards

Vijayawada

NSS Programme officers Dr Subhakara Raju and Mr K Sripath Roy along

with few NSS Volunteers attended the NSS State Awards organized at NTR Health

World Heart Day

KL University

On the eve of World Heart Day i.e. 29/09/2015 KLU NSS Cell along with

Department of ECE Organized a Seminar on General Health Awareness to all the

university Faculty. Dr Raghavendra MBBS have taken the seminar.

Gandhi Jayanthi – Swachh Bharat & Plantation Drive 02-10-2015

NSS Cell of KLU has organized plantation of trees in Vaddeswaram Village.

Management of KL University has donated 100 Tree Guards for the village. On the

eve of Gandhi Jayanthi, which is also 1st Anniversary of Swachh Bharat

Programme NSS Cell of KLU planned the installation of Tree guards and Swachh

Bharat Programme. Dr Anand Kumar, Principal, College of Engineering, Dr

Subhakara Raju, and NSS Programme Officer participated in the event. Around

120 Student Volunteers participated in this event and made it a grand success. NSS

Volunteers went to each household in the village and gave importance of

cleanliness of the surroundings. Village President Mrs Malleswari, Secretart Mr

Amaresh and other Administrators were part of this event.

Foundation Ceremony of Amaravathi Capital City

Uddandarayunipalem

KLU NSS Cell participated in the crowd management of Foundation

Ceremony of Amaravathi Capital city on the eve of Vijaya Dashami on 22nd

October. Foundation was laid by Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief

Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu. Around 100 Volunteers participated in the

event and helped the crowd to get access to food and other supplies at the venue.

Blood Donation Camp

NSS Cell organized a blood donation camp in association with Red Cross

Society, West Godavari. 200 Units of blood was donated during the event.

Secretary of Red Cross society Dr Rajendra prasad addressed the gathering and

congratulated the volunteers for taking up this activity.

Self Defense Training for Girl Volunteers

KL University

NSS Cell has taken up self Defense training techniques for girl volunteers

with the help of Marital Arts Club, KLU University. The club members have

trained the volunteers to encounter any dangers they come across in the society.

World AIDS Day in Tadepalli

The N.S.S Cell of KL University organized World AIDS Day Camp. This

Programme was organized by MBA KLUBS on 01/12/2015. World AIDS Day

programme initiated from Tadepalli Petrol Bunk to Manipal Haspital by rally 250

Students were participated in camp. Volunteers Walk to create awareness on

HIV/AIDS. Dr. R. Subhakar Raju, NSS Programme Officer, Co-Ordinators, MBA

faculty Staff, and Volunteers have participated in this event.

Tadepalli

Swachh Bharat Campaign was done in streets of Tadepalli and informed the

shops to maintain cleanliness by proper utilization of dustbins. This activity was

World Immunization Day

Revendrapadu

KLU-NSS Cell conducted World Immunization Day camp on 9/12/2015.

World Immunization Day camp inaugurated by Revendrapadu president K. Sridhar

babu. NSS event conducted CSE Department. NSS Volunteers distributed 1000

Phamplets in Revendrapadu village of Duggirala Mandal. In this occasion Dr.

R.Subhakar Raju NSS Programme Officer, NSS Co-Ordinators and 30 NSS

Volunteers have participated.

Chennai Flood Victims Relief Campaign

KL University

Chennai had experienced devastating calamity with rains & floods in

December; the rain intensified again creating more flooding and rendined

homeless. An estimated 200+ people have died, and over 200,000 have been

shelter less. KLU has extend helping hand to the flood affected people, by sending

Rs. 1,00,000/- worth rice and commodities. In this regard NSS Cell started fund

collection program. All the faculty, non-teaching staff and Students have

contributed their part of Rs. 1,00,000/- (one lakh rupees) . Rice, Doll, Chili powder

and Salt is purchased from collected money. A team of NSS Volenteers took the

groceries to chennai and distributed them in the affected areas. This is inaugurated

by Vice Chancellor Dr. L.S.S.Reddy, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dr. AVS Prasad,

Students Affairs Dean Dr. Habibulla Khan, NSS Officers Dr. R. Subhakar Raju, K.

Sripath Roy, All Department NSS Incharges and Volunteers have participated.

Health Awareness Programme

Pedavadlapudi and Revendrapadu

As a part of Social Responsibility our KLU-NSS Cell EEE department

conducted Health Awareness progrmme in Pedavadlapudi and Revendrapadu

Villages on 11-12-15. Around 25 student volunteers have participated in the

program. The Head master of Revendrapadu high school initiated the program; we

explained importance of maintaining good health and how to be healthier through

our food intake and from our surroundings to 6th, 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th, standard

students. Later we moved to Pedavadlapudi village and in primary school we gave

various tips and suggestions to be a healthy person.

Traffic Rules Awareness Drive

KLU-NSS cell & Transport jointly organized by “Traffic Rules

Awareness programme in Peacock seminar hall at KL University. In this

programme chief guests Mr. GC Raja Ratnam, Dy Transport Commissioner,

Guntur, Mr. N. Siva Nageswara Rao, Motor Vehicle Inspector, Mangalagiri. Mr.

GC Raja Ratnam discusses the traffic Road Accidents, usage of helmets and

seatbelts. Mr. N. Siva Nageswara Rao speaks to the traffic rolls and regulation. In

this programme Dr. AVS Prasad Pro-Vice Chancellor, NSS Pragramme Officers

Dr. R. Subhakar Raju, Mr. Sripath Roy, co-ordinators and NSS volunteers and

students participated.

KLU NSS cell conducted National Youth Day Celebrations on 12/1/2016

on the eve of Swami Vivekananda birth anniversary. Essay writing competition

conducted on the topic “Youth Role in Digital India”. 258 Students participated in

World Cancer Day

KL University

World cancer day Campaign is conducted in K L University, Green Fields,

Vaddeswaram, Guntur Dt. on 04/02/2016. Around 60 Volunteers and Faculty

Incharges participated in the programme and 400 pamphlets distributed in all class

rooms.

Day0 - 17/2/2016 – Announcements about Special Camp

Announcements were made in the village through public addressing system and to

the press regarding the 7 day camp to be held in the village.

Day 1 - Survey in Revendrapadu Village Dt:18-02-2016

Camp started with survey to know the status of the livelihood of the

villagers. The survey was conducted in around 800 households and data about the

literacy, food habits, healthcare, and hygiene were collected. The survey report

showed that drainage was the major problem in the village which is left unattended

causing health problems. The survey questionnaire is as follows.

Day 2 - Swachh Bharat

Revendrapadu

NSS Volunteers conducted swachh Bharat by cleaning the streets

in main centers near bus stop, village center, food stalls. They created

awareness in all the shops to maintain dustbins and proper hygiene. Also

the volunteers visited various households to maintain neatness in their

surroundings and usage of dustbins.

Donation to Yuvataram Foundation

Vaddeswaram

KLU NSS Cell volunteers from EEE Department collected funds from

students and faculty and donated them in form of Motor Pump, Fans, Books, Pens

Slates, Mats to Yuvataram Foundation, an organization which shelters the

homeless in the village of vaddeswaram on 19/3/2016.

Day 3 – Vanam Manam

Revendrapadu

Plantation activity where 500 Saplings were planted and distributed to

various households was conducted. Sarpanch Mrs Arunakumari, Mr Kasamaneni

Sridhar, MPDO Duggirala Mr Veeranjaneyulu, Secretary Mrs Alakananda have

inaugurated the event by planting trees near panchayat office.

Day 4- Pulse Polio Vaccination

NSS Volunteers campaigned in the village from the data taken from PHC,

Revendrapadu and ensured that children are vaccinated. The Polio vaccination

programme was conducted in village ZPHS School.

Distribution of Food and Groceries

Vaddeswaram

NSS Volunteers collected an amount of 16000Rs and bought various groceries.

These were distributed in Yuvataram Foundations Orphanage in Vaddeswaram

Village on 21/2/2016.

Day on 5 - Awareness Sanitation and Water Harvesting Dt:22/2/2016

NSS Volunteers went to the villagers and created awareness on Sanitation

due to drainage flow in their households which is acquired from the survey done.

Villagers were given training on how to create pot holes to let drain water and the

tips to have mosquito free surroundings. Also Bleaching powder was sprayed on

the open drain systems near the households.

Day 6 - Career Guidance to High School Students Dt: 23/2/2016

Faculty and NSS Volunteers of KL University have addressed the students

of 9th and 10th Class in ZPHS, Revendrapadu about the career choices they have

after schooling. Also pamphlets containing the information about scholarships was

distributed to the students. At the end of the event Pens were distributed to 10th

Class students.

Day-7 - Awareness of Government Schemes to Villagers Dt:23/2/2016

As a last day activity NSS Volunteers have created awareness on various

government schemes they can avail to the villagers. House to house campaign and

also a public addressing system pulled by an auto were used to create the

awareness in villagers.

End Note:

The camp was a sucess and the volunteers were able to bring change in the villagers with regard

to the hyegine in their surroundings, which was identified as a major problem from the survey done.

Day0 - 14/3/2016 – Announcements about Special Camp

Day 1 - Survey in Vaddeswaram Dt:15/3/2016

Day 2- Career Guidance to Pass outs Dt:16/3/2016

NSS Volunteers of KL University have addressed the students of 9th and 10th

Class in ZPHS, Vaddeswaram about the career choices they have after schooling.

This was conducted on the eve of Farewell Day.

Day 3- Dental Camp Dt:17/3/2016

Dental camp was organized in association with Dr Sudha Nagwswara Rao

Dental College, Vijayawada. Around 250 Villagers had checkup done and

medicines, scaling was done for free of cost. 10 Dentists and Interns have

participated in the camp.

Day 4- Medical Camp Dt: 18/3/2016

Medical Camp was conducted with a team of 4 doctors from Urban Health

Care Center, Siddartha College, Vijayawada. Total of 182 Villagers have

participated in the camp and health checkup was done. Medicines were distributed

for free of cost. This event was inaugurated by Dr Habibulla Khan, Dean Student

Affairs KLU and Mr Mallikarjuna Rao, Vaddeswaram.

Day 5- Swachh Bharat Dt:19/3/2016

NSS Volunteers conducted swachh Bharat by cleaning the streets in main

21/03/2016. Around 188 Volunteers and Faculty Incharges participated in the

programme. Students visited around 200 Households and handed over the plants

and explained the importance of Cleanliness and Afforest ration. Volunteers visited

the shops and explained them how to maintain cleanliness in their surroundings.

Day 7- Awareness on Marketing for Self Help Groups – Dwakra Groups

Team of Volunteers of NSS conducted the usage of technology to dwakra

self help groups in the village of vaddeswaram to maintain their livelihood. The

insights on importance and the trends in the recent days were given to the dwakra

team.

"Buckingham Canal Cleaning Project"

K L University NSS Cell has decided to undertake cleaning of the canal

adjacent to our campus premises, “The Buckingham Canal” as part of Swachh

Bharat program. Hon’ble Minister for Irrigation & Water Resources, Govt.of A.P.

Sri.Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao has kindly accepted to be the Chief Guest for

the inauguration of this Nobel program. The program was planned to inaugurate on

1st April and conduct the drive with strength of 2000 Students. But due to inflow of

water which was released by Department it had to be postponed.

Rice Challenge

Aastha Club of KLU University in coordination with NSS Cell conducted a

Rice Challenge to collect Rice Bags from the students and faculty of the

University. The initiative took place on 6th April. Collection points were setup in

various locations of the university and the collected rice was distributed to various

organizations.

NSS Annual Meeting

Appreciation program for the volunteers of NSS Cell was conducted on 16th

April, 2016. Dr Habibulla Khan, Dean Student Affairs gave a message to the

volunteers. Annual Report of events in University is presented by Mr Sripath Roy,

NSS PC to all the volunteers and staff.

NSS State conference for NSS Programme Coordinators: Date:26-04-2016

NSS State conference for NSS Programme Coordinators of Andhra Pradesh

and Telangana was conducted in the Office of Commissioner, Youth Affairs

Ministry, Hyderabad. The proceedings were initiated by Mr Gokul Krishnan,

Regional Director, NSS. The discussions were conducted by Director NSS, Mr

Ravi Kanth Gupta,

Secretary of Ministry of Youth Affairs and Vice President of Nehru Yuva

Kendram. The progress review was conducted by Mr Ramachandra, State NSS

Cell Liaison officer. Hon'ble Secretary has given salient decisions taken up by the

Govt of India. Mr Sripath Roy, NSS Programme Coordinator has attended this

meeting.
