We just came off some really warm temps not too long ago and now it's looking a bit more like winter is approaching outside. In fact its lightly snowing right now (but thankfully melting immediately) I wouldnt mind those warmer temperatures back, although Id never complain about a nice gentle snow on Christmas Day. It has certainly been an historic year. We are so incredibly grateful that we have been able to have face to face school for the whole year so far for the majority of our students, with little spread of COVID within our school or our activities. We know there are many things during this pandemic we cannot control, so we greatly appreciate your efforts at home to continue to follow the guidance so we have a better chance of keeping our most vulnerable as safe as possible, our hospital serving our residents, keep our kids in school face to face, and keep our activities going strong. We especially appreciate your support of keeping students learning if they are impacted by a quarantine, exposure, or testing positive themselves. For any student who is home, but not symptomatic, we expect that they are logged in daily following their normal class schedule. We know for most of you may be at work while they are home during the day and we understand. But your encouragement and support of them staying in tune with their learning makes the transition back to school so much easier. If you have any issues during the quarantine, please dont hesitate to reach out to the specific teacher or myself right away so we can problem solve. We have received so many notes so far that encourage us, that for those students who take full advantage of the ability to attend live class remotely at their normal class time, how much more learning they retain. We are now entering into my favorite Church season (though I completely recognize Lent and Easter are more important) of Advent. This quiet season of anticipation of great joy mirrors the natural ebb and flow of the seasons at this time. Things begin to quiet, the days grow shorter, and we all huddle in a bit more. Waiting. Anticipating. Such a beautiful time to reflect and cherish our faith and our families. We continue to work hard at school to keep adapting our teaching to not only meet the needs of our students today, but also with the changing realities of this school year in particular. We are discussing more what rigor looks like in the 2020 school year, and how we keep students engaged and growing academically, spiritually? How do we continue to also develop skills and tendencies to become successful adults? We are grateful at this time to count all of you as members of our Kuemper family and we hope you have a truly blessed Advent! Spreading Christmas Joy KHS has a tradition of giving to the needy this season. For several reasons this year adopting a family for Christmas is not going to work. But even though we won't be buying presents for families this year we can still be present to others who because of age or health are isolated and lonely. The Theology department decided to reach out to the people in nursing homes, assisted living and shut ins. All Theology students will be making and sending a card to a resident. All are invited to also join in this effort. It could be making decorations for their door or room. You could film a short presentation, carol or greeting on YouTube for a site that they could watch on their tablets. It doesnt have to be much to let them know you care, they love to hear good local news and would love our prayers for them - a spiritual bouquet. Let Deacon Tim Murphy know if you would like to help in anyway. Send any questions or if you would like to help to [email protected].

From the Principal’s Desk . . . We just came off some really warm temps not too long ago and now it's looking a bit more like winter is approaching outside. In fact its lightly snowing right now (but thankfully melting immediately) I wouldn’t mind those warmer temperatures back, although I’d never complain about a nice gentle snow on Christmas Day. Large Group Speech

Large Group Speech - Speech will be held this year, but like most activities during this pandemic, it will be different. Students will be able to perform in small groups and there will be district and state contests. The contests can be done virtually or at a location with judges in a small venue of no more than 5 schools present. We appreciate your continued support and are anxious to get rehearsals started. We expect Kuemper groups to be successful! -Mrs. Glass and Mrs. Gute

Mission Honduras

Raffle drawing

The decision has been made to carry over the Mission Honduras raffle money into the TFJO account. Father Behm, surrounded by the Father Kuemper Grotto drew three winning raffle tickets. The tumbler was full of over 200 raffle tickets. Normally these ticket sales would be over 500-600 tickets, but since we had to "pull the plug" on Mission Honduras sales were lighter than normal. Third place goes to Rita Anderson. 2nd place goes to Ken Nees

First place and a $500 winner was Mr. Mark Kloser. Mr. Kloser was to have gone into Honduras and Mr Kloser sold

a good share of raffle tickets. Mr. Kloser has graciously decided to give back his winnings. That is around 3,000

meals that Mark has personally given back to the people of Honduras through the TFJO packing event yet to be

realized. Spring 2021 GOD willing!
