The Time Warp Trio:

The book is about three friends (Fred, Sam, and Joe) who get a strange present from an Uncle and travel back in time to a fantasy version of the medieval days. The story is narrated by Joe in first-person narrative. The story begins with the three boys, in the woods, about to be attacked by an angry knight wearing black armor. The next chapter begins with how Fred, Sam, and Joe ended up in such a bind. It was Joe’s birthday and he received a birthday present from his Uncle Joe, also know as Joe the Magnificent, who is a traveling magician. The present is a strange book, called The Book, and it has a very dark, ornate cover. When the boys open the book they are surrounded by a pale green mist and find themselves teleported back into time. During their adventure within this strange kingdom the three friends must battle a smelly, fat, gigantic giant named Bleob, a fiery-breathing dragon named Smaug, and of course the Black Knight! They meet legendary characters such as Merlin the Wizard, Queen Guenevere, King Arthur, and Sir Lancelot. Throughout the story the friends are trying to figure out a way to get back to their kitchen and their own time period. Will they be able to get back home? Read the book and find out!

Jon ScieszkaJon Scieszka (SHEH-ska) was born September 8, 1954 in Flint, Michigan and is an American author of children literature, best known for his collaborations with illustrator Lane Smith. He is also a nationally recognized reading advocate, and the founder of Guys Read; a web-based literacy program for boys whose mission is "to help boys become self-motivated, lifelong readers.“In 2008 was named the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature by the Librarian of Congress. His Time Warp Trio series, which teaches kids history, has been adapted into a television show.
